Hi, no problems at all 👍 only thing I'd suggest is to replace the inpond filter with a power filter, copes better with heavier fish load. I now use the Blagdon Cleanpond Machine 7000, it's very efficient and incredibly easy to maintain, I run it with a Blagdon Amphibious IQ pump. Check out my most recent video of this pond 😊

Hi, the pond comes with basket pockets that attach to the frame of the pond. Adding additional pockets is possible, that's what I did

Hi, I use regular white filter floss to clean them and as long as you do this regularly and keep on top of it, they’ll stay nice and clean 😊👍

Hi, with just a few Comets and Shubunkins in it, They have over-wintered without any issues, even when we had very thick ice a couple of years back. If you have fancies I’d probably house them in a shed or indoors in the winter months. Maybe they’d be fine if you live in the south of the UK but not up here in Scotland 😬😂 I absolutely love this pond and would recommend it to anyone 👍

The only thing I’d recommend you change is to replace the in pond filter with the Blagdon Clean Pond Machine filter, much better filtration and much easier maintenance. You can still use the fountain pump and led night light, just house it in a basket filled with pebbles 👍

Hi, I just use some white filter floss, much cheaper than the pads that Blagdon sell specifically for this. If you clean very often you’ll keep them nice and clear 😊

Hi, thanks very much for your nice comments 😊 I’d personally highly recommend this pond, absolutely love it and it was pretty straight forward to assemble, much easier than digging a large hole in the ground lol The Grand Octagon is a good sized pond and is bigger than the videos make it look. I’ve just uploaded a short video of the pond with my 13 year old daughter sitting by it, hopefully this will give you a good idea of its size. Thanks again 🙏

Hi Richard, thank you for your message and also for your nice words about my pond. I would buy another Blagdon Affinity pond in a heartbeat, absolutely love this pond 😊 The only thing I would do differently is replace the all in 1 internal filter with the Blagdon Clean Pond Machine filter. I’ve since done that and it’s so much better and easier to maintain. The water quality is incredible now. Those wooden ponds with the large glass windows are nice but, like you, I think they’re too expensive and the glass would be a nightmare to keep clean all the time. Let me know what you end up opting for. Thanks again 🙏

@@johnsaquaticlife ok thanks for replying, do you find with it being raised that you can’t enjoy it as much when your sitting if that makes sense as opposed to an in ground pond. I’ve got a very small in ground pond at the moment but would like to have something larger for the fish as their growing, it’ll probably be when I move house and a raised pond would be less expensive and less work to build.

@@Becks-fi6xl Yes, I do agree that it’s a bit less enjoyable being a metre tall and you can only really watch it whilst standing/leaning over it. It can be placed half in the ground and maybe that’s what I should have done. If you decide to go for a raised pond, get one that’s just 60 cm high so you’ll be able to sit comfortably and watch your fish to your hearts content 👍😊

Hi, these are fantastic ponds and I highly recommend them. With the stock 5in1 filter with built in UVC that comes with the Grand Octagon it runs at 15 watts, 10 watts for the pump and 5 for the UVC, this works out at approximately £20-£25 per year. I removed the 5in1 but kept the pump for the fountain and replaced the filter with a Blagdon Clean Pond Machine 7000. My wattage use in this pond is now - fountain pump = 10w, UVC = 9w and Blagdon Amphibious IQ pump (pressure filter pump) set at 15w, so costing approx £45 per year. Hope that helps

Hi, thanks 🙏. I used 1” grey pvc piping with elbows and straight connectors, I already had a Blagdon netting so just used it and attached it using black cable ties. Unfortunately, I have seagulls who like to sit on the netting and poo in the pond, fouling the water, so I’m building a roof over it with netting used like curtains to stop them getting in. Hopefully that’ll work. Cheers
