Plaid Vest using Couture Handstitching Techniques
Made a Plaid Vest to go with my Plaid Slacks.
Plaid Slacks: ua-cam.com/video/aAU3VjoXing/v-deo.html
Pattern: McCalls 8962 Mens Shirt & Vest (vintage); graded down two sizes; missing instructions.
Materials:
- 100% Italian plaid wool; 100% polyester plaid (lining); cotton poly blend navy satin (pockets); 100% polyester black thread (main); 100% cotton ecru thread (tacks); 100% polyester light blue thread (basting); Hawaiian shell buttons.
Goals:
- Practice couture techniques.
- 100% hand sewn
- Practice pattern matching.
- Wearable two set piece.
Process:
- washed, pressed all fabric. Starched lining fabric.
- single layer cut out all pieces.
- pattern matched double pieces.
- tailor tacked all markings including sewing line.
- assembled darts and pockets.
- assembled body.
- assembled and bagged lining.
- buttonholes and buttons.
- clean up, wash, press.
Learnings:
- Upped my hand stitch skills.
- Upped my hand stitch buttonhole skills (I kinda prefer them now to machine stitched!)
- Upped my eye for pattern matching.
Overall thoughts:
- Handstitching isn't as tedious as it seems. And has advantages to machine stitching such as fine tuning of pattern matching. You can get super precise.
- This is a truly unique item. None other has, has had, or will ever exist in the universe.
- I like hand stitching buttonholes. Who knew? haha.

Saddleback Hacked Jeans
Переглядів 139Місяць тому
Saddleback Hacked Jeans Pattern: I was inspired by 1970s vintage 'dittos' which were known for their saddleback. I looked at jodhpurs and equestrian wear. Too old-timey and too sporty. So I decided to hack a good fitting jeans pattern. I took Burda 8466 Mens' Pants. Joined the back yoke to the back pant, then took the back center leg line and curved it to the point of the original back yoke. Th...

Simplicity 8151 1940s Vintage Apron
Переглядів 493 місяці тому
Sometimes you need an apron. And if it's vintage, even better! Visiting relatively simple sewing projects is a good way to keep basic skills sharp even after years of sewing. This pattern uses pressed raw edges on pretty much all the hems which makes the hems sharp and tidy. I plan on making more aprons from this pattern. Perhaps in a print? I like a print.

BLESS YOU
What a shame the music is louder than your voice so struggled. I’m sewing this hoodie now and the button hole on my machine won’t zigzag so looking at your photo going to leave it off. Best wishes from Portugal
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for this tutorial. The inner wheel on my machine does not turn alone, it seems to be too tight and moves with the outer wheel. Do you by any chance know how to fix this?
Love your haul. I just discovered the store today and went there and got lots of goodies. :)
How crazy can’t hear because of the music
My friend, what size should I print this file in Can you help me?
Awesome tutorial :))))
Loved this series. So good. Thank you for sharing.
No instructions?
So helpful thank you ❤
Show!❤
Jajajaja 😂😂 me encantó el final
🤍
Sehr schön, aber mit Maßangaben wäre es hilfreich nachzumachen. Und wenn , fann bitte in Centimeter ( cm). Dankeschön
please could you do a detailed tutorial explaining how to set up the fly (too many pieces of fabric??) and the waistband properly. Thanks
Here's at least the fly-front part. How to sew a Fly-front Zipper ua-cam.com/video/Bsy_OQCl87A/v-deo.html And yes, the right fly front is only cut 1, the left fly front has options (interfacing, lining, or single layer even). Your choice depending on weight of fabric and structure/stability. I plan to do more of these trousers. So I'll keep a tutorial aspect in mind for the future. Probably a few videos covering the process start to finish.
とても楽しいポーチですよね、それぞれの寸法がわかりません、教えていただけますか。宜しくお願いします。
The final garment is astonishing, would love to see a full detailed tutorial
Thanks! I'm planning on making more of this style (or slightly altered) so I'll keep a tutorial in mind. Thanks again.
Congratulations! It was so cool to see this process and I'm so excited about your new channel!
