    Nicely painted...but there was no “painting” going on in this video. Maybe adjust the title?

    hi could you tell me what stains paints and so on and so forth you used also how did you make the bases

  • @DJSlimzilla

    Do you make the bases yourself? If so could you give a quick rundown or your process, maybe a video if ya like. Thank you.

    I've been skimming your videos trying to find your process for making the bases; materials, paints etcetera. They're very impressive.

    Did you use an airbrush? This is such a superb and very precise paint job I guess an airbrush must have been used for some of it. If you said so in the video then apologies but it's very quiet to my deaf ears.

    • @threesquarewheels
      @threesquarewheels 4 роки тому

      Jon A thank for the comment. No these are all painted by hand using a 0 or 00 brush. The detail is too small to use an airbrush.

      @jona826 4 роки тому

      @@threesquarewheels I thought maybe an airbrush and masking tape might have been used. You must have a very steady hand!

    Nice work in general but why grey on the hull. Normally the black would be down to the point where the copper sheath coats the keel and that part of the hull. I don't know if the Spanish and French had started doing this but in the second half of the 1700's the RN had a huge speed advantage over its rivals because of that copper sheathing. It stopped sea life growing on the wooden hull, made deguassing easier made the ships faster.

    • @threesquarewheels
      @threesquarewheels 4 роки тому

      Slaanesh1000 yeah you're probably right. Once I add the sea texture on the base you hardly see it anyway. I just wanted a contrast from the black upper hull and I didn't want to paint the hull a copper colour or (green after its developed a patina) as that would look funny at this small scale.

      The rigging is cotton thread supplied with the models but the rat lines are brass etched from "navy models and books"

      Skip VABeach no. I am mainly using Vallejo paints. I do use a GW contrast paint (Skeleton horde) as a final wash for the model

    There is an older gentleman who I've seen a number of times playing the violin on the subway in New York City, this animation could easily have been made for him! Excellent animation, sets and story. The first time I watched this video, I didn't even stop to think about how difficult it must have been to create it, GREAT WORK! I'll be adding this to my favorites. :) SMA Cheers!
