"Lucid Nights" is an immersive, one-hour ambient music journey that unfolds in three distinct parts, each contributing to a seamless, cohesive experience. Set in the contemplative and moody D minor key, the piece creates a rich sonic landscape that mirrors the atmospheric depth of a futuristic city at night, brought to life by cyberpunk AI-generated imagery.
Part 1 begins with deep, evolving pads that set a tranquil yet mysterious tone. Gentle, pulsing sequences slowly emerge, adding texture and movement, much like the flickering lights and shadows of a cityscape illuminated by neon signs. The soundscape is expansive, drawing the listener into a vast, otherworldly environment, where the AI imagery depicts towering skyscrapers and glowing city streets.
Part 2 introduces more pronounced melodic elements, with lead synths weaving through the layers of sound. These melodies are haunting and introspective, evoking the sensation of wandering through rain-slicked streets under the glow of holographic billboards. Missed the live stream but enjoying at work right now. I like that you shared your workflow and studio setup. How do you like the night sky and big sky? I am looking to get a Push 3 eventually for Ableton workflow, and have a MicroFreak (my only hardware synth, i also have Serum), would you recommend the Arturia KeyStep 37 to pair with it for all the sequencing control it provides?
@kendallsmith9199 - Thank you for the comment! No worries about missing the stream, and I'm glad you're able to enjoy it now while working. I was working during the stream too, so I wasn't on the chat. If you see the AI images, it usually means I'm not available or I've stepped away for a moment. I always have something playing while I work, and I'll stream it if I think it's interesting. Anyway, between the two sky boxes, I really like the Nightsky. You can do so much with both boxes, but I find the Nightsky is a great addition to my Hydrasynth patches. I use the Bigsky only for guitar-based work, mainly with the Cloud and Plate settings. Check out @PerryFrank's channel-he's a master at ambient guitar and has some great videos on Strymon gear. My studio is, and will likely continue to be, a work in progress for a while. After 3 years, I've found a combination of components that fit my style and needs. I love playing with new gear and seeing how things work from device to device. I also want a control room type feel instead of using a mouse and keyboard to manage Ableton. That's why all the MIDI devices you see are coded to control different knobs and faders that I use most often. The Push 3 was a big step in that direction. I use it as a primary control surface, but I also play instruments with it, depending on the track and what I'm doing. I'm not sure what others think, but I love Novation's gear-they've become a key component in controlling my track lanes, faders, and send FX. I also use the Launchpad Pro if I'm playing an instrument with the Push 3. As for the Keystep 37, I love it! It's a great price. I buy all my stuff used on Reverb.com from known stores selling items in "Like New" or "Excellent" condition. There are stores that gladly sell store models for 20-30% off. Most of my studio was built over the last 3 years at anywhere from 30-50% of the new pricing. Anyway, the Keystep 37 is awesome, in my opinion. I use it for sequencing and also as a place to quickly start a new clip for a pad or lead part. The Novation SL49 in my studio is used when I need more registers to work with, instead of latching a part, changing octaves, and then resuming playing. I did this for a long time with the Keystep 37 but needed a new keyboard once I felt the need to play many things at once. My setup is a little complex, but I imagine it's simple compared to some of the big channels out there. It's also just how I like to do things. I enjoy learning a variety of gear and taking advantage of their differences. Wow - that was long! Hope that helps. Keep playing and hope to see you around my channel in the future! :)

I'm planning to start releasing videos showing how I build tracks and even possibly do some livestreams. For now, I generally begin tracks with a theme that is on my mind and then I diagram the parts and structure. I typically start with pads to set the tone then figure out the right place for sequences and lead parts. After that, I'll add sound FX for textures. Thats the general idea. For now, I've been focusing on one hour pieces.
