Day 87 | A Lazy Trail Day & An Update From The Future | Pacific Crest Trail Thru Huke
Today I walked about 20 miles. Waking up early to beat the heat! Including an afternoon nap and movie and ending the day a wee bit early. Hiking with U-turn has been wonderful!

Переглядів 1,8 тис.19 годин тому
A couple days spent in Burney going to church, eating lots of food and resting up my feet! Made it back on trail and have been mentally preparing for ending my hike.

Переглядів 1,6 тис.14 днів тому
Walked 8.4 miles to old station and got a hitch into Burney from a sweet lady working at the RV park. Got some breakfast and new insoles. A look around town and staying at a church is just lovely.
Day 81 | hard day in the heat & thoughts on hiking labels
Переглядів 2,1 тис.14 днів тому
Today was a tough day. The plan was roughly 30 miles today but ended up only going 23. My feet are killing me so thinking about getting a hitch from old station to rest in burney for a couple days. A pretty day in the burn zones and a relatively flat day too!
Day 80 | HALFWAY point and SUNRISE | Pacific Crest Trail Thru Hike
Переглядів 1 тис.14 днів тому
Made it halfway today! Woke up to a beautiful sunrise and made it to old station by 10am. Hitched a ride into Burney and ate some delicious food. I bought new insoles for my shoes and a well needed rest!
Day 79 | my legs hurt and sunsets! | Pacific Crest Trail Thru Hike
Переглядів 1,1 тис.14 днів тому
Woke up feeling how tired my legs are. Today was a hard day either way inclines and little water. At one point (not really featured in the video) I was out of water for 6 miles. It was a close call as I have not been worried about water in the Sierra. Well, now I need to be more diligent about where water is! Thanks for hanging with me!
Day 78 | Awesome TA & The Brutal Climb out of Belden | Pacific Crest Trail Thru Hike
Переглядів 1,1 тис.14 днів тому
We were picked up by a trail angel named Kelsey. She is such a joy and treated us to breakfast and coffee! It was a hot day and a 3k descent and 4.8k ascent! Huge up hill at the end of the day making it a tough day! On the bright side got a burger at belden today!
Day 77 | Town Day in Quincy & Gear reviews

Переглядів 1,4 тис.21 день тому
Today I felt like it was a good idea to do 30 miles. Indeed will not do this again lol. It was tough to say the least! Roadrunner is a good sport and goes after the crazy with me! Had a good coffee on a picnic table….big deal! And off we go.
Day 73 | Sierra City and Tramily Shenanigans | Pacific Crest Trail Thru Hike
Переглядів 1,6 тис.21 день тому
Roadrunner and I decided to go into town for a burger because it was only 1.5 miles off trail. It was a delightful time! And we still hiked a full day! Our legs are getting strong! Somewhere showed up to have breakfast with us! Our trail family is delightful!

I don’t know why, but I found it so funny when you said you hadn’t been to church in 800 miles or so. Normally when people say they haven’t been to church in awhile, they’ll say something like eight months ago or eight years ago but yours is 800 miles ago. That’s funny stuff.😂

That heat is rough, of be night hiking and missing all the incredible sights 😂 The mountains are blue for the same reason the sky is blue, the blue wavelengths that are part of the visible segment of the electromagnetic spectrum are more easily scattered than the other wavelengths. The distant mountains are blue because there is more blue light wavelength scattered between your observation point and the mountains than what is scattered between you and your hand or the next switchback. That's a simplistic explanation. Wait until you see what happens with wildfire smoke-the light turns orange and amber depending on the amount of smoke, the color shift is really amazing! Good to see you closing your final trail miles for the year, I hope you're back next year to complete another state or two.

I didn’t get to see the wildfire smoke but I’ve seen some pictures and videos! Absolutely wild!! & thanks for the science lesson! I need it lol! I tried night hiking and I saw too many animals I did not want to see so I stopped. In Missouri we don’t have scary animals so night hiking is no big deal….

At least you cooled down in the hot weather. Your feet appreciate it also. When it’s hot and sunny be careful in the shade. Rattle snakes seek shelter from the sun also

I love sarcasm!! Your feet hurt so take a zero and don't do as many miles to stay with travel, my opinion only. Pray about it
