I have slapsticked for this piece for 3 years and each year I one up myself from the last and since it was my last year I felt that a fight scene to pass it on would be the best
Wow! What an amazing video! I got a real good laugh out of this one. It really looked like he punched him! It must have been wild to see this in person. The audience must have been like, "wow! I was not expect that! What a plot twist!" I'm so excited for next year's video!
One of my favorite anecdotes about this song comes from an experience a family friend had. She was the director of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera/Orchestra (couldn’t remember which title they went by). She was asked if there’s anything that she could do when she announced her resignation, and she said she wanted to play the slapstick for Sleigh Ride during the Christmas Concert. They gladly obliged.
During this song my friend who was playing the slapstick had one of those horse heads on stick, had it between his legs, ran across the stage all while doing his part. Literally no one was expecting it
My high school band dropped the cymbal at the end and it just fell flat with no rolling sound, so our director made us drop it again. Also, for each of the slaps, we had a block to use for it, but people started doing different things to it. Like me and my friend would high five, one of the trumps, slammed a magazine on the floor, etc.
My band made a giant slapstick for the percussion. They needed 2 people to use it lol.

I love the horse bit where the trumpet neighs. It also would’ve been embarrassing to fight over the snapstick in front of atleast 300-700 people😂😂
