Anyone looking into this now, a laser engraver,3w, off Amazon is about $150. Wainlux k10 or similar. So much easier and quicker.
That's a good tip for short, it does cut time on the alignment. Not a chance I could've used that on the 14 footer I just finished
Yes I have not built a rod that long. I am sure the flex could throw it off.
Just use the glare line from your room lighting makes a straight line all way down rod sections , works good for me
Hi Great tip on using the laser alignment tool. Is that tool from CRB at mudhole? Thanks
Thanks. Yes it is. I use it on every build. I love it.
@@maroonedfishingcompany1262 Thanks...I will order mine soon. keep them great content coming
THX!
Hope this helped
You mentioned most (all) blanks aren't straight (none I have ever seen are straight). If you attach the laser then there is no way it will shine directly down the blank to the tip top without being obstructed by a guide, right? Also, how did you know to put the guides on that particular axis of the blank? Thanks!
I knew to put the guides on that access because I found the spine of the blank prior to building it. I was building a spinning rod so I placed the guides on the inside axis. You can find some short videos on how to spine a rod on UA-cam. Perhaps it will be my next video. 😃 The way I have had success getting distance on my casting is not playing the bend in the rod but building the guides straight so that the laser shoots down the middle of each one even if they are off the bend a little bit. Hopefully that makes sense. I don’t worry about the bend I just keep the guide straight all the way down that axis. I hope that helps and if you have any further questions I can shoot you an email
@@maroonedfishingcompany1262 interesting idea on building them all slightly off... or trying to keep the laser visible the entire way down. So you found the spine? Yes, I am familiar with these techniques, but I am curious as to why you build on the spine.
@@edmundr4134 the spine is the natural seam of the carbon fiber when the rod is built and it naturally bends that way, so it offers the most flexibility and strength along that axis. I’m not gonna lie, some of the higher end blanks I have a hard time finding it, but some are super obvious.
Do you adjust them after your wrap the thread on?
Yes
Slight adjustments are possible
Very nice man! I like it! Richard from Kansas;)
Thank you sir! Appreciate the kind words
Pretty slick ,brother!!!
Thanks! Fish on!
@6:00 guides 4 and 6 look off. Is that the camera angle?
Did you have the lazer mounted to the reel seat?
Yes. It comes with feet like a reel that you can attach to the reel seat you are using.
Thanks for the product review and explanation. I was thinking of getting this laser alignment tool and after seeing your video I'm definitely wanting it! Good stuff.
Ya I use it all the time. I still use my eye as a final test but it gets them where they need to be.
A freaking laser beam. 🤣😂🤣😂
