    Tariffs are used by every country regularly. It's a leverage tool to induce compromise in trade. The U.S. has been screwed over by many countries over decades, especially China. They flood our market with their goods, while banning our products in their markets. Do your research. Another liberal narrative that is wrong.

    Europe went bankrupt after ww2 by paying for the war they just got out of. Since they had to use all their gold to pay for the war, they ran out of their gold backed currency. They were forced to drop the gold standard and peg their currency to usd. The USA was pretty much the only country that was still on the gold standard and still had their currency worth something. So by pegging it to the usd, Europe’s currency was still on the gold standard, though indirectly. This changed in 1971 when America drop the gold standard. America realized that it couldn’t afford to be on the gold standard and have welfare at the same time, so America chose welfare. That’s when the gap between pay and productivity started.

    Governments imposing tarifs is worse than raising taxes. All tarifs do is raise prices for consumers (which is the initial intention to keep that country's products competitive) but feeds the government money up front, before any sales even occur. Then, you and I have to pay more for those taxed items, before we mark them up and try to make a profit. If there's not enough "meat on the bones" we make less, put still pay more in taxes on the sale price, as it was inflated artificially to begin with. Government makes even more money as a result. Because we made less, we have to sell more to make up for this loss. We then seek out cheaper products and end up flooding the market with bad quality items and the only winner is the government. No tarifs means better pricing and competition. If we cannot produce products of equal or better quality than other countries for the same price, we don't deserve to be in business. Many North American made products are much higher quality than cheap Mexico or China products, so they demand a higher price anyway. But charging a tarif and increasing the cost means the savings will not make it affordable when sourcing the cheaper products. Then there's the anger the taxed country has against the taxer. Canada being taxed 25% just "because" means you are spitting in your neighbour's face and we might just decide to keep our oil and tree products or sell elsewhere. China is doing this now. Tax me? I'll make YOU pay. We should have tax free trade worldwide, let us compete on par and as equals. If we can't or won't learn to adapt, we'll go the way of the Dodo bird. Ultimately it's the consumers that pay, so they should be the ones to decide what they pay in taxes and tarifs, not the government.

    • @enoughrope1638
      @enoughrope1638 Місяць тому

      In a world of free trade the one country applying tariffs does indeed suffer, but we don't live in that world. We live in a world where the US has amongst the lowest tariffs, and by far the lowest of any developed major economy. The result is that almost all manufacturing is heavily incentivized by this market manipulation to produce those goods in other countries and export to the US where it will see little mark up and they are discouraged from producing anything in the US. The consumer benefits a small amount however the worker suffers greatly as the value of labor in the US plummets.

    • @timfarry7071
      @timfarry7071 Місяць тому

      @@enoughrope1638 If a country is truly able to survive without outside help, then it can impose high tarifs to do what you suggest - to be self sufficient and not rely on imports. But the US doesn't have every resource it needs. China, on the other hand, does have most of the resources today's markets need, and the infrastructure to make products. That is why China will become the new world superpower after the US, which studies have already shown is currently happening today. It is not something we can stop or fix. It is reality. If the US wanted to remain in power, 20 years ago it should have begun making factories and infrastructure to be self sufficient and not rely on the cheap imports, but that is exactly what it did, because people are lazy. Why do something difficult when the easy path is right in front of you? That's human nature. But you can relax, China isn't controlled by greedy corporations, it's ruled by the Communist Party, who, believe it or not, does actually act for the greater good of its people. So even though they will become the new world leaders, you won't see the kind of greed that we see here in the West. Money and power corrupts.

This is why inequality has been rising. You're absolutely wrong - wealth inequality has nothing to do with intelligence inequality, it's actually the opposite. Catching and recognizing the pattern of wealth inequality is a sign of intelligence, and your first step towards breaking the cycle and towards wealth - that's the point of the video.

      @thearkintel The system favors those who are smart enough to understand it. The poors are incapable of doing so because of their low IQ. Govt is taxing everyone to death and spending trillions in deficit to please the poors is what's eroding the value of income and favoring assets instead. The poors are too dumb and too greedy to connect these dots, and keep voting for the same policies. That's why they are stuck in the cycle of misery of their own making.

    The fun part is that people get gentrified out of San Francisco, then they move to Sacramento. The Sacramento natives now get gentrified, and now they move out of state. They move to Texas or nevada, then they push out the locals from there; creating a messed up shockwave. I think ppl are gonna start moving to middle of nowhere towns. Lets not forget that the current admin just let any moron walk across the border, and thats gonna boost the demand of housing, keeping housing prices high. I think the powers that be are hellbent on keeping the housing market propped up because if houses actually became affordable, us poors would actually be able to prosper but that would mean the property tax would be lower too and were already running deficits.

In a supply controlled market, as demand goes up, prices are going up. This is why housing is becoming unaffordable across the U.S.

    Giving “free” down payment assistance will just drive up costs. Why? Cuz now you’ll have millions more of Americans with money that didnt before. The one issue i see that no one is addressing is we’re currently only building giant McMansions and apartments. We’re not building your classic 3 bedroom smaller “starter” home. Part of this problem could be solved with changing the down payment requirement for building a new home. I believe it’s 20% down if you wanna build…..but only 3-5% if you wanna buy. If we want costs to come down we need to give buyers some leverage. Make it so first time home buyers can BUILD a house at 3-5% down with the stipulation they live in it for a minimum of 10-15yrs. The house plans can even be limited to just a handful of designed. All Americans want is simple 3 bedroom houses with a garage, yard, and 2 bath. Nothing crazy…..thats why starter homes never lost their value even during the 08 crash. Yes, thats right. Starter homes were still in high demand back in 08.

    jobs may have recovered but the employment rate has yet to reach Trump's 61% high.

      Government data show employment grew more while Joe Biden was president than under Donald Trump, and that most employment went to U.S.-born workers.

    Be realistic because anything else is just FAKE,,,,, ,joining the EU took a while to build up momentum before we saw any benefits from doing so as 1993 was a long time age, Now we are no longer a part of the EU any positive effect of doing so will also require a similar quantity of momentum...! As this is largely known to be the case by economists and government, I would suggest that its highly unlikely that the decision will be reversed any time soon.! which makes such arguments and conversations at this stage totally pointless......!

      Agreed, but there are a lot of valuable lessons to be learnt for the other countries from the decisions made through Brexit - the reason why we made this video.

    Why is the UK pound going up?

    • @thearkintel
      @thearkintel 4 місяці тому

      The recent rise in the UK pound sterling is likely due to the Interest Rate Differentials. The Bank of England has maintained a relatively higher interest rate compared to other major central banks, especially the Federal Reserve. This makes it more attractive for investors to hold British pounds, as they can earn a higher return on their investments. It's important to note that currency exchange rates can fluctuate rapidly due to a variety of factors.
