CAR CAMPING in the LAKE DISTRICT
A short film documenting my recent car camping trip in the Lake District National Park. this was my first time sleeping in my new car but not my first time in this beautiful part of the Lakes.
I'm sure most of you can guess straight away where I am, and of course there is many signs to deter people from camping here, but on a cold mid week evening in November, staying stealthy and on my own it felt acceptable. Of course in peak summer with huge crowds of people I wouldn't recommend doing this.
if you enjoyed this content please leave a comment and consider subscribing to my Chanel, I'm still in the very early days of my film making journey and keen to keep progressing.

Solo Hiking the Tour Du Mont Blanc
Переглядів 4644 місяці тому
This is a short film documenting my 6 day solo hike on the Tour Du Mont Blanc trail in France, Switzerland, and Italy. This was my first time in all 3 countries and first time hiking in mainland Europe. I had no plan, no accommodation booked, just a map and some light weight camping gear.. Winging It! (It's worth noting I have years of experience hiking and wild camping and at no point was risk...
A solo hike on Helvellyn | Lake District
Переглядів 985 місяців тому
A solo hike on Helvellyn in the Lake District. The purpose of the hike was to test some new kit for my trip to the Alps next week, and spend some time in the fells alone. I had planned to wild camp but a mixture of "uninspiring" weather and very busy camping spots drove me to calling it off and driving home instead. fortunately I am lucky enough to call the Lake District home, therefore it was ...
Just Get There: A Te Araroa Trail Film
Переглядів 8 тис.6 місяців тому
A short film documenting my own experience of hiking across the length of New Zealand on the Te Araroa Trail, a 3000km walking trail from Cape Reinga to Bluff. 6th November 2023 to 22nd February 2024 This was my first ever thru hike, I have done tons of hiking and wild camping but never anything as crazy as this! I absolutely loved it. The country, the people, the views, the camping, the epics,...
Wastwater is a beautiful location. Lovely relaxing video!
Loved your video!
Thank you very much!
After having a period of withdrawal from my 2 month NZ camper adventure, I came across your video. Man, you hit me with the feels brother... I can only imagine how you must have felt at the end of it, looking back. What an adventure, and what a way of documenting it. Who cares if it's not technically perfect filmwise. Your video was pure and raw, showing us your emotions, both the good and bad. No fake 'instagram bs', it was a very authentic experience and I loved watching every minute of it. Brought back so many memories from this amazing country! Well done mate! 😁💪🏻
wow what a comment, thank you so much!! Ive made a few films since and I always kick my self at some of the mistakes I made editing this one, I'm glad you appreciate it the way it is! NZ is just the best!
Hey fella. I was born in Bramley, Yorkshire over 50 years ago. I enjoyed hearing the accent I woule be speaking with now if my parents hadn't emigrated to New Zealand when I was three. I don't know if you noticed, but your Yorkie accent softened really fast, and you definitely picked up some kiwi twang before you even left the North Island. Anyhow, excellent video - I'm a tramper and enjoyed seeing you walk some of the South Island trails I have been on with the Moa Hunters. Kia Kaha,.
ahh ive deffo mastered the kiwi accent since coming home, and go to work in red bands lol, I can't wait to return to the South Island! Glad you enjoyed the film!
Great video mate… the views looked spectacular. Keep doing what your doing mate. Scouse x
Just watched this mate after a tough day at work, I’ve got to say your video has lifted my spirits. After a year of not really getting the foot miles in… you’ve also given me a burst of inspiration to start clicking the miles up again. Keep doing what you’re doing mate… you should be extremely proud of yourself. I’m proud to know you and to call you a good friend. Beers are on me when you’re next home. Pm me when you’re coming over mate. Much love, Scouse. X
Thank you mate, glad you enjoyed it, get your self back out on them hills!
Great filming as usual Charlie ❤
Thank you Julia xx
Well done mate. Great video too. Outstanding in all respects
Thank you for watching!!
Outstanding achievement mate! Iǘe tramped (hiked) all over NZ as a kiwi but always in awe of you special breed who traverse the entire length of the country. Must be such a mad rush of experiences and feelings and you captured yours wonderfully. Thanks for this, a heart warming tale of one manś adventure, the friends he made along the way, and a glorious walk DONE!! On ya brother!
Thank You so much! its almost a year since I started walking from Cape Reinga, such can epic adventure it was!
Dude ur video makes me feel alive. Thxs.
Awesome! Get out there mate! 🙌🏻
Well put together this film, top quality production and editing. I’ve watched quite a number of hiking documentaries and this is definitely up there with the best in terms of professionalism. Well done for completing the thru hike very inspiring, great achievement 🙏

Amazing Charlie 👏 keep enjoying what you do best ❤️
Thank You Julia! x
Hi Charlie. During a time when many people are deciding to just walk the South Island of Te Araroa, your film gives the most compelling reason to walk the North Island too. In the Maori language it’s called manaakitanga, generosity, hospitality, and caring for visitors. You find it everywhere in Aotearoa/New Zealand, but on the North Island of Te Araroa you’re passing through a much more populated landscape, where 75% of us live.
Thank you! Yes I’m so glad I walked the North Island, most of my best memories of NZ came from the north island! The people were all incredible! Everyone should hike it!
Another great film Charlie, hope you enjoyed your 🍺 xx
What went wrong with your Tarptent?
It fell to pieces after doing the north island, I wanted something stronger for the south.
Can I ask what kind of shoes you wore and where you replaced them? Thank you and great video
I wore Inov8 roclite 275s. 3 pairs… bought 1 pair in Welly (yes the first pair lasted the full north!) and then the next pair in Queenstown) Bivouac are the only store that supply them In nz I think!
at 13:30 I was going for "Who would cross the Bridge of Death must answer me these questions three, ere the other side he see" I'm setting off in October from the UK, no plan apart from setting off with 3-4 days food.
Good luck mate! It’s an epic adventure!
Such a sick video bro 🙌
Thank you mate I appreciate it 🙌🏻
Amazing video! What an adventure! My dream is to hike the TA someday before I get too old 🤣. Love your video style and going to continue following you and cheering you on!
Thank you for watching! Im glad you like my style… I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing, I guess I was just my self haha!
This looks sick! Can’t wait to fly over from Tassie and have a crack. What were the road sections like on north island? I’ve been hit by a car before on a run so kind of worried 😅
Deffo worth it mate!! Ahh yeah some of the roads are A) dangerous B) boringggg. I hitched here and there and so did many others, the official notes even suggest hitching on some of the really bad ones. said that some of the roads are dead quiet and some pass through some epic little towns… I guess it’s up to you what you walk!
@@charliekeedy thank you!
Thanks for sharing your journey. Lovely memories for you.
Thanks for watching!
Well done mate ❤️
Thank you mate!!
You're an inspiration Charlie!
Thanks for watching :)
You're an inspiration Charlie! ✨️ I've loved following your stories every step of the way, and am so proud of you and your ability to dig deep and embrace the "suck" when you need to. All while admiring the beauty of life and being greatful for it. I miss you so so much! Can't wait for a day when we can reunite and share our stories ❤
I Miss you too mate! Thanks for all of the support!!
Awesome Charlie! So fun watching your journey ahaha the thick accent and swearing really makes this video! 😂 also did you change tent?
Thank you! I should probably tone down my language but I really can't help it! I did...the dcf ultralight dream fell apart near wellington so I swapped it out for a mighty macpac microlight and never looked back!
cool vid. its along walk. good on ya. why did you change tents?
Thank you! I the dcf tent was falling apart after the north island and I didn’t want to risk it on the South Island knowing I’d be doing long stints in the mountains. I played it safe and picked up a macpac microlight in wellington… loved it! Managed to sell it for about the same price at the end too!
What brand was your first tent. I used a Zpacks duplex which is great but single skin has its quirks. Did you prefer the macpac?
Hey! My first tent was the tarp tent protrail li. Also single skin and although ultra light I wasn’t a fan of it. I quite enjoyed my macpac!
Hi Charlie, thanks for sharing your great film and showing the emotional highs and lows of the trail. Very inspirational! It looks like you changed your tent half way through, can I ask why? Thanks Sarah
Thank You for watching! Yes I started with a Tarptent Protrail Li (single skin dcf tent). It was quite small, terrible for condensation, and by wellington was falling to pieces! Worried it wasn’t going to survive the South Island with out some major repairs I decided to swap it for a Macpac Microlight! 1kg heavier but I felt safe and sound for the rest of my trip and could pitch anywhere with confidence! All part of the fun!
@@charliekeedy thanks Charlie for the helpful information!
