Kayaking to Goat Island's secret WWI military fort!
Kayaking // Goat Island 17.1
Day trip kayaking from LaConner to Goat Island in the beautiful Puget Sound! Technically in Skagit Bay, Goat Island is home to Fort Whitman, built in the early 1900's, it was part of the "Harbor Defense of Puget Sound" which includes the more well know Fort Casey. It's a great paddle as long as you pay attention to the tides.

Kayaking // Diablo Lake 18.1 Day trip kayaking Diablo Lake in the North Cascades in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, in my Wilderness Systems 145 kayak. There's a brief review of the campsite Buster Brown which is boat in only camping. Overall its a great kayaking lake with a couple great stops for camping.

Its gorgeous there, a pristine example of the beauty of WA. I do slightly disagree, I believe Blanca lake is prettier. Just now noticed theyre both Spanish names for some reason though🤔

I'm not a big soda drinker, but it was a cold morning and it was mixed with just a little anti-freeze to warm you up from the inside.

Do you know If you can access lake Diablo from the campground entry point with your own kayak- even if you’re not camping there?

Yes, you can park at the Colonial Creek Campground parking lot and use the boat launch or launch from the breach without a problem even if you're not camping. It's an amazing paddle... just be sure to time your paddle right, that afternoon wind will give you a workout coming back.

Hey Wanderlust, its a nice little hidden find not too many people know about. There's unofficial campsite on the south end with a huge gathering area and about 10 tent sites that overlook Skagit Bay. Definitely worth checking out. Big fan of your channel by the way!

footage 5.13 (ramp on right side from you) is this ross lake ferry landing , are you alowed to go past that all the way to the dam? th

You cant paddle all the way to the damn, but if you get off that dock at 5:13 you can hike up to the damn or there's a phone there and you can call a guy to bring his flatbed down and portage you and your kayak over to Ross Lake for I think $20... not too sure if that's seasonal or not.

Thanks! I use an Olympus Tough TG-870 and a imitation gopro. The Olympus is a little older but still the best kayaking camera in my opinion. The newer versions don't have the view screen that flips so you can see yourself as you film. It really helps making sure everything is in frame.
