2nd London Festival of Bulgarian Culture - Trailer
0:08 0:09 the orchestra drowned the voices . Unbalanced.
Full body chills!
Wassail, Wassail, all over the town, Our bread it is white and ale it is brown; Our bowl it is made of the green maple tree; In the Wassail bowl we'll drink unto thee. Here's a health to the ox and to his right eye, Pray God send our master a good Christmas pie, A good Christmas pie as e'er I did see. In the Wassail bowl we'll drink unto thee. Here's a health to the ox and to his right horn, Pray God send our master a good crop of corn, A good crop of corn as e'er I did see, In the Wassail bowl we'll drink unto thee. Here's a health to the ox and to his long tail, Pray God send our master a good cask of ale, A good cask of ale as e'er I did see, In the Wassail bowl we'll drink unto thee. Come, butler, come fill us a bowl of the best; Then I pray that your soul in heaven may rest; But if you do bring us a bowl of the small, May the Devil take butler, bowl and all! Then here's to the maid in the lily white smock, Who tripp'd to the door and slipp'd back the lock; Who tripp'd to the door and pull'd back the pin, For to let these jolly Wassailers walk in.
There came three men from out the West Their victory to try, And they have taken a solemn oath John Barleycorn should die. Refrain: Sing right follol the diddle all the dee Right folleero dee. They took a plough and ploughed him in Laid clods upon his head And they have taken a solemn oath John Barleycorn is dead. So then he lay for three long weeks Till the dew from heaven did fall, John Barleycorn sprang up again And that surprised them all. There he remained till midsummer And looked both pale and wan, For all he had a spikey beard To shew he was a man. But soon came men with their sharp scythes And chopped him to the knee They rolled and tied him by the waist And served him barbarously. We'll tip white wine into a glass And scarlet into a can John Barleycorn and his brown bowl Shall prove the better man.
❤
Thanks:) luved it
What orchestra? What choir?
Proud to be Bulgarian
Ancient and modern. Spellbinding.
Just recently found this, gotta say, pretty metal. But in all seriousness loved them intervals
Their teacher is bulgarian, the choir is english people only...listen to the original when bulgarian choir sing that...ua-cam.com/video/hVqrW-fPOQ0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=antoniasorriso greetings from Bulgaria! :)
Wonderfully played! I remember Philip from Stellenbosch and Cape Town... Took violin lessons from his father Pierre and played ensemble works with Oliver, his clarinet-brother...
See if you can work out which is the really irritating singer in the front row. That would have ruined the concert for me.
What do you mean?
It’s part of the piece other recordings have the same yelp
If can't get enough of this beautiful traditional song, please check out our version. Our goal is to preserve century-old songs from Eastern Europe by reinventing them for contemporary audiences. ua-cam.com/video/DqVpIbmq24k/v-deo.html
the interesting thing is that these people are not Bulgarian only the teacher. good job
WHAT DO YOU MEAN MATE???? More than 90% are Bulgarians
More oi this
*It's very nice work, Check our channel when you have few minutes ! :)*
Magical and chilling...!!! Greetings from a Greek Thracian in London!
now we need some nice BEAT from this shit cuz its fucking amazing
ikr, I'll try my best to make something dope outta this
I'm late to this but listen to the Ghost in the Shell Soundtrack (the anime version) they were influenced by this type of singing and that has amazing beats in it.
ill keep waiting for this.
i'm singing this in my choir class right..
Xena: Warrior Princess theme song.
Actually its Bulgarian folk love song.
damnnnnnnnnnnnn
very driving & energetic!
Absolutely superb! I just love this little Vaughan Williams tune, this variation is up there at the very top for me. Good enough to grace my classical collection, such a shame it's not available as a download. Fantastic performance by everyone involved.
+leito1177 Respect for people like you
Gorgeous.
The composer of that song is Petar Liondev.
beautiful stuff!...I'm not of Bulgarian descent, and don't understand the words, but music transcends all of that, and this gets me right inside. thank you for uploading and I'll have to make a promise to myself to get to see you guys perform. x
"A kaval (peasant flute) is playing, mother, Up-down, mother, up-down, mother. Kaval is playing, mother, Up-down, mother, outside the village. I'll go there, mother, to see it, To see it, mother, to hear it. If it is played by a fellow villager I'll love him from dawn to noon. If it is played by a stranger1 I'll love him for my entire life. " Not Bulgarian either but I've never heard anything quite like this music, even though I'm from Eastern Europe. There's a minor 2nd interval in the main melody, can't begin to explain how unusual and awesome that is haha.
Many thanks for sharing this!
Thanks very much for sharing this! I hope there is more from this concert!
This is Vladigerov's own orchestration. It is true that he originally composed the cycle for piano solo, but such a master of orchestration as Vladigerov wouldn't orchestrate it if he didn't mean it :) So I'm not quite sure what do you mean...
The concert was titled Bulgarian and British Symphonic Folk Songs. You could read more about it here, if you wish: lfbc.eu/A5portrait_Nov03.pdf (This is a PDF with the concert programme, containing the programme notes. You'd have to copy the link in your browser window, and it's about 26MB download.).
It was greatly organized festival! BRAVO!
WOW!
Very interesting indeed!
