You can see and hear what appears to be a hydraulic feller buncher working there, although it might be an excavator. These horses are just pulling out the firewood and tops as far as I can tell with a few smaller sawlogs. Not sure the whole picture. Nice to see anyhow. I do much the same thing.

Well that's common sense that the common pencil pusher will be more cooler as they are in the comfort of a building with A/C compared to us workers that have to sit outside in the fucking heat working at a stupid donations trailer, Nice to see that our manager decided to show us the almost the identically same stupid video like it is gonna protect us in the heat of the trailer how about powering our trailers with generatorless trailers with air conditioner you pricks

Not sure what you are cutting, but we used to haul a heck of a lot more than that in one load with Queen a Percheron, I used to stand on the logs, and I did not even need the reins She obeyed voice commands perfectly, her only flaw was when she heard the Tree hook make contact with the choke chain, she would want to go, had to keep our fingers out of there LOL.

Trees are a renewable resource. If you just let them grow they get old, die and fall over. Better to go in, manage the forest for sustained yield and practice good stewardship. Besides, without cutting trees we'd have no toilet paper.....

That's a great team of horses, big srong healthy well cared for animals. Well matched teams love to work together and are a pleasure to work with. I used to do this when I was a kid many yrs ago. Horses are not big fans of chainsaws all that noise irritates them a bit they prefer the sound of little bells, chains ringing and pleasant talking to them. All they want is to be fed, watered and loved along with a good brushing. They're great noble animals I love them.

'Cutting trees' is fine if done in a sustainable way that allows the forest to regenerate naturally, there has been lots of excellent research in this area that has produced some excellent methods and strategies. Horse logging is one of these low impact strategies that allow us to tap a superb resource (timber for construction, fuel, biogas) in a reponsible yet productive way.

Have you ever been to a Horse Pull? These work horses are insane to PULL!!!!! It's their mission in life! All they want to do do is work, pull. If they don't have the work, they get a little crazy! They get bored. A work horse with no work is an entity you have no idea how to deal with!!!!

  • @TheBrendadale

The personality of a work horse is something to marvel at! They're SO HUGE, and they're SO STRONG, but they're such pussycats! My boys, Ted and Tom, (Belgians) were such sucky boys. I'm brushing and loving Tom, and Ted would push him away so HE could have some lovin' and attention! Our Percheron team, Jake and Joe, never stood a chance to get all my attentions after we got Ted and Tom! But, Jake and Joe did get lots of lovin' too! These big guys just need so much lovin'!

Horses aren't naturally browsers! I was amazed to see this pair eating leaves! And you can just see the two of them, browsing, waiting for the next log to haul out of the bush. They're loving their job! At the farm where I work, we got a team of ex-logging horses to pull the wagon for public rides. These horses NEED to work!!! When they're bored, they break down the fences and run the farm! Electric Fences...they love them! They push their chests into the wire and get off on the jolts!!!

I think the practice of having blinders on the bridle was so horses wouldn't be freaked out by automobiles at the time cars were becoming popular. I'm not 100% sure on that. Logging horses have to see where they're going, so blinders aren't used. I drive teams at the farm where I work (sleigh rides for the public), we don't use blinders. Our teams are ex-logging horses, I think they'd freak if they couldn't have full vision! Blinders are old fashioned and not necessary any longer.

I think it's because they need to see where they are going with all the trees and stuff on the ground.

Kyla is a smokin' hottie, she's not fat; she just looks like a real woman. While I don't a lot of what passes for pop country these days, I like the song and its message. I'd take this curvy cowgirl over lot of the anorexic girls they have in the fashion mags and men's magazines, she's beautiful!

I believe this video should be used to encourage normal sized women to love themselves as they are. Society and the fashion designers should be ashamed of the rediculious and sick fad of sickly-bony girls. How many young women have died or became sick for life because of wanting to be looked at as beautiful?
