Autumn Leaves Jazz Cover

Advent is here and to celebrate the changing of the seasons, Caleb, a couple of his talented friends, and I recorded a cover of "Autumn Leaves." Caleb orchestrated and produced the whole thing. I'm honestly constantly amazed at how many instruments he is able to play / direct! "Autumn Leaves" is a popular jazz standard composed by Joseph Kosma in 1945 with original lyrics by Jacques Prévert in ...

CLEANING + PRAYER (5 prayers for intentional cleaning)
Переглядів 6432 роки тому
Cleaning is *not* one of my favorite activities. Dishes? Yes. Making the bed? Okay, fine. Cleaning toilets? Ewh. But cleaning is one of those jobs tasked to me as a homemaker, so I do it without complaining (mostly)! One thing that sweetens my daily chores is incorporating intentional prayer into my cleaning times. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Saint Paul urges us to pray unceasingly ([16] Always re...

My Catholic Conversion Story (how was I convinced to make the switch from Anglican to Catholic?)
Переглядів 29 тис.2 роки тому
Honestly, I put off this video for a while. My conversion to Catholicism was actually incredibly difficult for me (mostly because of the jump from an Anglican tradition that felt quite pious to a Catholic Church that seemed confused and-as practiced in certain parishes-irreverent). 🟣 For videos on traditional Catholic prayers, married life, and homemaking, SUBSCRIBE to this channel, & follow al...
O Come, Emmanuel | HYMN FOR THE FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
Переглядів 9232 роки тому
Merry Advent! “O Come, Emmanuel” is a classic hymn sung by millions of Catholic families throughout the season of Advent. Each verse of this hymn refers to Christ by various Old Testament titles, thus exemplifying Christ as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. In addition to its anticipation of Christ’s birth, the hymn can also be interpreted to refer to the Second Coming. 🟣 For videos on...
For All the Saints | ALL SAINTS DAY HYMN
Переглядів 4992 роки тому
Happy All Saints Day!🎺 What a triumphant and hopeful hymn and solemnity to begin November-the month the Catholic Church dedicates to the Holy Souls in purgatory. Those souls in purgatory cannot pray for themselves, so they rely on the rest of the Body of Christ (the faithful on earth and saints already in heaven!) to pray for them to get them cleansed and into heaven faster! I talk about purgat...
11. It Is Well With My Soul | HYMN TO CELEBRATE POPE SAINT JOHN PAUL II
Переглядів 1592 роки тому
Pope Saint John Paul II, a man alive during many of our lives, is an incredible example of forgiveness. After being shot in the chest and critically wounded, Pope Saint JPII was (some say miraculously) healed and forgave his would-be assassin of his life sentence to prison. The lyrics of “It Is Well With My Soul” were written by Horatio Spafford after the tragic loss of his four daughters in th...
Nunc Dimittis (Latin & English) | CHANT FOR THE FEAST OF SAINT LUKE
Переглядів 1,4 тис.2 роки тому
This is my favorite prayer to say before bed. The Nunc Dimittis, also known as the Canticle of Simeon, quotes holy Simeon when he encounters the infant Jesus at the Presentation in the Temple. It is recorded in Luke 2:29-32. The Nunc Dimittis is traditionally chanted as part of Night Prayers (Compline) in the Liturgy of the Hours. It's especially appropriate for the feast of Saint Luke on Octob...

Animal lovers rejoice! Today is the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron of animals, merchants, and the founder of the Franciscan Order. "All Creatures of Our God and King" is an adaptation of Saint Francis of Assisi's "Canticle of the Sun." That hymn in praise of God for creation was composed in 1224. It is believed to be the first piece of literature written down in the Italian language. ...
Guardian Angel From Heaven So Bright | FEAST OF THE GUARDIAN ANGELS HYMN
Переглядів 6 тис.2 роки тому
Just a couple days after celebrating the Archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, we turn to the celebration of those angels a little more personal to us: our guardian angels! There’s not much known about who wrote this hymn. Similarly, most Catholics aren’t 100% sure how guardian angels ‘work.’ Psalm 90:11 says: “For he hath given his angels charge over thee; to keep thee in all thy ways.” Pi...

This triumphant hymn was written by Saint Rabanus Maurus (776-856 A.D.). He was a schoolmaster, abbot, archbishop, and a lifelong scholar of Scripture. It's said to be an incredible hymn for receiving the Holy Spirit's graces! As Archbishop of Mainz, he was a powerful...

I like the idea of praying the Angelus at Lauds, Sext & Compline (sunrise, noon & 9pm) I don't always get to it, but it's nice to also pray the Rosary at Terce (9a) and do some Bible Study/Lectio Divina at None (3p)...sometimes those two get overlooked because of the daily tasks that must be accomplished, but when possible it's an ideal practice, and if you really have time the readings of the Divine Office are good at the appointed times too...this level of pseudo-monastic rigor as a layperson can really keep you grounded in ways very similar and even deeper than the Muslim Call to Prayer is...I even have the different hours set on my phone with church bell alarms.

Im a High Church Anglican considering catholicism and I have to be honest, most Roman Catholic Churches could learn a thing or two about a reverent liturgy from the Anglicans. I live in Phoenix so there are a million catholic churches, I could not believe how so many of them have praise and worship "bands" - I cannot take that seriously.

    Welcome to the family of Christ. Ave Christus Rex 🇻🇦❤. ★It's just my suggestion Sister plz don't use Re-Baptized bcz Re-Baptism is a heresy in Catholic Church. Just telling you to know.😅 There maybe another word which is okay to use bcz some people will believe we can have baptism more that once. Which is a misuse of a Sacrament in Catholic Theology. ★{According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), baptism is a sacrament that imprints an indelible spiritual mark on the soul, signifying a person's permanent belonging to Christ. This spiritual mark is irreversible and cannot be erased by any sin. As a result, baptism is given once for all and cannot be repeated (CCC 1272, 1280). The teaching that re-baptism is impermissible aligns with the Church's understanding of the sacrament's unique and enduring effect.}

Protestant response. Just a minor clarification from a Protestant perspective. One is converted to the Lord Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. One converts to this or that denomination or church. The two are not the same. Blessings!

You mentioned College Station so I assume you are a TAMU Aggie and you went to St. Mary's. My son is an Aggie and attended there as well as the church in Bryan. I'm so happy you had that experience. My story is much like yours as I grew up in the Presbyterian faith as well. I was fortunate to marry a Catholic but it was 25 years before I became Catholic myself. Our children were raised in the Catholic faith and over many years and continually attending Mass with my family that I finally became Catholic myself.

Well, I guess it’s a ‘two-way spiritual street.’ I was born and raised a Catholic but when I became an adult who could reason for myself, I converted to Protestant. I have realized many Catholic teachings are either man-made or simply UNBIBLICAL! If you really want to know some of the reasons then leave me a comment. For those who have converted or are converting to Catholics, I hope you really know what you get yourself into! The linked video below is a shocking example why I have not regretted converting to Protestant. You can verify the information in that video for yourself on the internet. Remind you, the Catholic Church has been claiming their Pope is the Vicar of Christ and INFALLIBLE! For me, I HAVE ALWAYS DOUBTED THAT HE IS! ua-cam.com/video/EvjXuLXO24Q/v-deo.htmlsi=ixFNKoqpuAg8_DKH

Excellent conversion story. I left the Catholic Church soon after turning 18 years old because I guess that’s what 18-year-olds do when they’re given their independence lol. Leaving the Catholic Church may have seemed fun at the time, but it led me into some very corrupt habits. Decades later, I decided to get back into Christianity, but this time I wanted to find the real church - one that followed the teachings like the earliest Christians would have been. But much to my surprise after lots of reading and research I ended up going back to the Catholic Church- lol. Surprise surprise. I’m very lucky because there is a church nearby that does a Latin mass on Sundays, which I attend every week.. and two or three times a week I go to a NO daily mass at the church closest to my house; But I have to avoid the Sunday mass at this church, because the music is terrible. I would go to the Latin mass further down the road every day if I could but it’s just too much of a drive for me, so I just go once a week and I make it on Sunday because of the massive reverence of the TLM.

I don't know if you still monitor comments. But if you were a High Church Anglican you should look for an Ordinariate Catholic parish. I'm a cradle Catholic who was very unenthused with the Church during COVID. Ordinariate service is VERY reverant and high Church. Short of Latin Mass I couldn't imagine myself going anywhere else.
