      I feel more confident with those knots as I have been using them forever. I would recommend experimenting with all types of knots to find out what you feel works for your particular system. There are some great articles out there that go into depth about break strength on knots that is also super helpful. But for me, I know that these are solid and wont fail me on the water.

    How do I fly fish with a regular rod?

    • @Drifthook
      @Drifthook Рік тому

      Hi AngryJT, the easiest way is to tie on a dry fly or nymph to your line and then about 2 to 3 feet up the line add a bobber. You can then cast the bobber and fly at the same time. You can use a lot of the rig setups in our videos, but have the bobber above all of them. Hope this helps.

    I'm new to fly fishing after been coarse fishing all my life, I only recently got a 5weight Rod, some flies dries, wets and nymphs,but I am not sold on indicators especially in low water,I think they scare every trout around,I'm going this evening to try nymph fish I ain't got indicators I might miss a couple of bites,but Ive little faith in this indicators although I do see lot of people using them,maybe in deeper water you might get away with them but not in 2 or 3 foot of water,it's just imo but what I would know as I only taking it up now.

    • @Drifthook
      @Drifthook Рік тому

      Hi Ray, if you are fishing in 2 to 3 feet of water, especially clear water you might want to try a Dorsey indicator or a yarn indicator. They land softly on the water but still give you a visual clue when drifting the nymphs. I have also fished with sighter material that is just a bright section of line that you can place in your rig as a visual cue for strikes. Good luck out there and we hope you catch the big one!

    Hello. Thank you always for the good videos. I have a question. I'd like to hear what you think about the standard of tippets in the beginner's video about the idea of fluoroflex tippets sinking into water. Also, in the above video, do you recommend connecting the fluoroflex tippet to the mono reader? I'm learning a lot from your videos.

    • @Drifthook
      @Drifthook 2 роки тому

      Hello Choii, when dry fly fishing, I typically like to stick to monofilament as it will ride higher on the water's surface. With that being said, I have fished flouroflex as well when I did not have any mono available, and the difference is barely noticeable if you have a larger fly. You will see your dry fly sinking with smaller flys but sometimes this is not a bad thing as it acts like a crippler or emerging pattern just below the water surface. Feel free to experiment with both to see what you prefer. Thanks for watching the video and let me know if you have any other questions.

    • @drifthookflyfishingllc.4187
      @drifthookflyfishingllc.4187 2 роки тому

      Hello Sahil, without seeing the actual hook up and fighting the fish it is tough to tell. But try these couple of ideas next time you are out there and see if it helps. 1. After you set the hook make sure you have a tight line and no slack between the rod and the fish. 2. Instead of having the rod tip vertical while bringing it in, place the rod more at 3/4 upstream or even parallel upstream. The reason for this is your hook set might be more in the lower part of the fish's mouth and when you move the rod tip verticle it pops put the fly. Keep the rod angle at the same angle you hooked the fish. Let me know if that helps. Thanks again for watching the video.
