Calvinism was first articulated by Augustine (a Roman Catholic) in the 4th century. So, the Church did quite well for 300 years without this doctrine. Calvinism is a contrivance of man. The Biblical doctrine of salvation is best described by the “Corporate View of Election” or the “Provisionalist Salvation Doctrine”. Don’t look to be right; look to find truth.

Whosoever will scriptures do not imply or suggest that any person dead in trespasses and sins has the ability of themselves to come to Jesus. Jesus Himself said emphatically "NO MAN CAN COME to me EXCEPT the Father which hath sent me DRAW him." John 6:44 Salvation is of the LORD. Jonah 2:9. The clear teaching of holy scripture is found in John 1:12-13 and those ignorant of saving faith wrest this to their own destruction and damnation when they try to overturn the simply truth of God's word, namely that those who receive and believe in Jesus do so NOT by their natural will but by God's will. We live in a world full of a mountain of cares and concerns but this and other sermons from Spurgeon give me peace. New questions are not being asked. New concerns do not exist. The more I experience and understand the more I see This life as nothing more than a little bit of history repeating, which is comforting. There truly is nothing new Under the Sun. Eccl 12:3 - Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. If you understand this, You can go about your day in peace, and that's all you need to know.

When I witness in town tomorrow afternoon I’ll be telling folk what happens if they don’t truly repent. This is what is desperately missing in modern evangelicalism which merely aims to tickle ears instead of quickening souls.
