Ouch… this was incredibly painful to watch but 100% honest and true. Everything you said fully describes how I’m feeling and why I’m no longer playing or participating in the community I had so much fun with. I feel so disappointed and sad at this point… the game is just not what I thought it would become and maybe never will. I feels like an empty shell of something that could have been amazing. :(

It's easy to spend a lot cause everything is super expensive. I wish I could buy more stuff but with prices so high I have to space my purchases. And refrain from buying stuff. A lot

They keep hyping the Elder Woods and I sincerely hope it lives up to that hype because if its like the last quest it's gonna be a huge disappointment. And, I agree, the premium shop is WAY too expensive. I've spent a LOT of money but can't justify it anymore 😬. I've spent more than the cost of 2 or 3 premium, complete games. If they lowered the prices I think they'd make up that revenue in volume of sales 🤷‍♀️. And, at least add items to the guild stores!

I loved Palia very early on and quit the same patch they introduced the store pets. Once I saw that then I started learning other things about the studio, such as many of them being ex-Blizzard and ex-Riot devs with some quite decent financial backing to start off with. Was pretty easy to see they were using their past experiences with monetization to up the ante with the the FOMO and (frankly EXTREME) prices of the shop. Almost makes it more personally offensive that the prices are so high knowing that. Every patch after I quit only added more and more into the store, and I see now it's at a tipping point for the remaining players. I don't really have any solutions because I'm tired of companies nickle and diming me for an outfit the price of multiple games. Reminds me of a similar event when I backed TemTem on kickstarter. They started out developing the game and adding in areas, but they added in a shop as well while still in early access. I figured it would be to help them gain funds through development. No. The store became more and more robust, until it came time for launch and the store was the ONLY place you can get a mount skin, glowing dyes, and nearly all the clothes among other things. In an MMO?! At some patches it felt like the store was the only thing getting updated. Every good thing was locked behind the store or the battle pass. Supporting that on kickstarter singlehandedly burned me on supporting any other. Mind you, this was no free to play game like Palia. This was 40$ and I'd paid 60$ on kickstarter - just to get a vision of a game locked behind a paywall. I'm DONE with freemium games and I'm on to my indie era. The second I see a battle pass or store I'm out.

I played during both betas. I quit once it was fully released because people had such a disgustingly toxic, elitist attitude about the game, events, and those purple trees. Idk what it's like now but I can't imagine it _improved._ I also despise monetization in games, and remember things costing an absurd amount a year ago. For me, the game was meant to be a relaxing, open-world environment to wind down in rather than playing Skyrim, BG3, Elden Ring etc. I can understand how its current state never changing from the beta state would be boring & disappointing. I've turned to Ale & Tavern instead and get more joy out of that.

I agree with you 110% I have a love hate relationship with Palia. I have not spent a dime in the Premium Shop yet because it is too expensive. I would more likely spend money if out fits were a bit cheaper and companions were cheaper. I have been gaming for over 40 years and have played many types of games and realize FTP games need a way to pay their staff but this is by far the highest prices and are macro transactions not micro. I hope to see a change. I would also like to see some work on the characters themselves, I feel they still look rough in the facial area. I will still play Palia when there are updates but Plushie hunting isn't content to me. Nice video thank you!

Server instability? - I'm pretty sure you can guess my answer to that one... 👀 Are you frustrated with Palia? - I feel so seen with this question. LOL The level of disappointment I had after completing the main story line continuation was beyond frustrating. I have no words honestly but at the same time, I'm truly not surprised at this point. Everything at this point with Palia just feels so lazy and sloppy that it has taken out all the pure enjoyment I had with it which is a shame, honestly. Let's hope the Elderwoods next year helps bring back some of the fun it once had.

I think that some of us… alot of us were looking for a TOTK without all the monsters. A lot of us wanted/expected vast expanses to explore, time eating temples that require some skill and decent puzzle solving. More characters, more lore. Idk. I love Palia but I’ve come to the conclusion that they should have had at least all the content we currently have at the beta release. A lot of us binge content. We live in a binge society. A majority of people play for more hours than they will admit. As soon as anything drops we’re done with it in 5-10 minutes. To have people wait so long for what? 20-30 minutes of quest time? It’s like we’re begging and pleading for something to do. For the folks that live for grinding and decor. I don’t think they’re having these discussions. Their beef is typically bug related. I do understand that there were layoffs and they’re pretty much working with a skeleton crew as well as other business related complications that we probably won’t ever know about. I do give some leeway for that. As far as the premium shop. Either I’ll buy it or I wont. I’m sure someone is crunching the numbers over at the office. Maybe they will make a change to the shop at the elder woods update. Or sometime next year. Who knows? Either way all you can do is continue to file the complaints on their site and hope someone is working on it.

I agree with much you have said but I am fustrated at the crashing... always crashing... and yet I can play WoW, and other MMORPG's and such... I don't crash... I crash ALOT in this game... I have chedked settings and such. ... it's frustrating. I am patient I swear... but it's been getting to me... I love this game... I love this community... always inclusive... have hardly ever heard nothing negative. I love love the plushies... I do love the outfits but I agree they are expensive. I know they are working on it... and I am going to stick with it, but I do hope they work on this better.

Exactly - I can't buy those outfits from the shop! You think they're expensive in USD? try funding them in other currencies!! I've still yet to finish of the GALES sequence of quests... I might do it now that there are more quests. I've not been online (it seems) for months now...

I love this game, its such a nice chill thing and I can progress at my own pace. I love the characters, their little stories, etc. Cant wait for more to be released but I am still not even done with the main story that is released thusfar.

I remember touring this house before you uploaded it. And definitely been edited since but to know she done most of this on switch is amazing as I’m also a switch player, just shows what’s really possible.

Anylimez here. I couldn’t agree more. There were two things that got me playing Palia more than anything and both were my tours for your channel. I had a goal and to meet my goals I had to play a lot. When this new quest became available I felt like something was missing afterwards. What’s missing are elements in the game that give me more incentive to play. I just booked a job a few weeks ago and I wasn’t able to play during that period. I am actually surprised that even with the long break in playing, my drive to get back on the game has suddenly become very low. I do love Palia and will continue playing but if they could implement or improve in the ways you mentioned I think it would be a major draw for people.

I haven't spent a single penny on Palia, and refuse to do so until the game is "complete". I can't trust the devs will finish the game, and after completing the recent questline, I can't help but feel there's not enough content. I think the new area we're supposed to get will make or break the game, especially since every update has a bunch of unaffordable cosmetics and very little content. I feel kinda alienated by it tbh, especially when they seem to take little to no feedback seriously. They're pricing things as if the game has been completed, but it has not. Why not lower prices while they work on development, then sell higher-priced cosmetics when the game is "done"? For a free-to-play live service game, not giving players a reason to login every day and play is devastating. I don't even water my plants half the time and have started playing other games more often.

I completely agree with you. I stopped playing it because i got bored. I love the vibe of the game and what they have given us so far but it just feels like there isn’t any valuable progression.

I am rather frustrated with Palia. Namely that over the past year. Despite my best efforts to reach out to S6. They've been slowly removing housing/decorating glitches from the game. Making it a point to prioritize fixing them instead of game breaking bugs that are standing in the way of people actually enjoying the game. My one friend received a message from a support staffer that had one line that stuck out to me "I understand that it can be frustrating to deal with this but rest assured the team is working on giving you the Palia experience we're striving for." Note the Palia experience ~they~ are striving for, not the one we the players are asking for - the one they want. There's been an issue in the game where a shopping list of items count across all of your plots, my first report that I submitted to S6 was 9 months ago on this matter. My most recent one was a month ago, it still isn't on the known issue list. It's very clear that the "Palia experience they are striving for" doesn't include Glitch Artists like myself, yet they are oh to happy to take credit for having an amazing game... when we make it one. Without us making insane creations, Palia would have a very bare bones & boring decorating system. They say things like "let's get creative" - we say "we have been, in spite of you getting in our way."

I agree with your thoughts. I support the game with premium purchases. But...my main beef is the grind and how long it takes to earn coins. I 100% hate the prices going up at city hall and the library and plots. I don't want to quit the game but I think a break is coming soon.

I'm not gonna lie when I clicked on this vid, I expect to hear about how there's tons of game companies that could take Palia's concept and actually make it into a playable full game but it was mostly about complaining about things that everyone already says.

I love Palia , I do not mind the quest every now and then , I am not into combat games at all - as stated bellow Palia is stuck in a game loop , of gathering, decorating , and it does do my head in I won't lie ....... the decorating limitations need to be vastly improved IMO - in terms of being able too place items where we want them, without all this "glitching" and using 50 building blocks to get the look you want...... I will not put up fencing as its a Item killer , the edging for the flowers ugh another item killer 3000 items is not allot . Also storage is way too small ! I won't go on and on......... but yeah :)

I love palia and enjoy the story line. ive played since dec 2023 and yes i have completed all the quest. so i do get to the point of what do i do. Now with the length of the quest their kinda ehhh. But it being the prolog maybe they want them a little short and once we get pass that it would take longer (all my opinion). also im think with it still in beta they still have bugs like this and it helps them find out why or what is causing the problem. i would like since we are on our plots more we get things like farming (animals).

The outfits are definitely too expensive. I've wanted one of the drakes since they released, but my other main cozy game Dreamlight Valley recently released an expansion with baby dragons that are IMO cuter and come with the dlc. I do want a second outfit to mix and match my ideal outfit, but I'm waiting. Meanwhile, the daily gameplay loop needs work. Again with the comparison to DDV, even when I've finished all the update's content and am waiting again there's a lot to do each day. There's valley cleanup of spawnables, there's the new restaurant delivery service, there's the Daisy shop. None of that is decorating. None of that is grinding mats. I wonder sometimes if following DDV's example and putting a $30 price point on the game would allow us all to earn Palia coins in game and to have cheaper premium stuff.

Once the game is complete, the main storyline will be the entire prologue questline that has been stretched out for us over the last year. There are lots of other small side quests obviously, but the *main* quest from start to end is actually pretty beefy compared to a lot of other MMOs if you view it from the perspective of a brand new player. Totally with you on the rest!

I absolutely LOVE the bundles, idk why you dislike a part of the game that makes perfect sense but I'd STOP playing if they removed the bundles. I love that it encourages you to go for bugs and fish you wouldn't normally care to try and get. As for the seasonal update it doesn't LAUNCH fully until December 3rd so I really don't understand how you're claiming to be finished when it's not even available in game yet? And then complaining about optional purchases is crazy to me. It's a FREE game. They make all theur money from the shop. If you don't wanna or can't support then don't??? I've put over a hundred hours into the game and hasn't bought anything because at Christmas I'm getting myself a few outfits. 🤷

You absolutely nailed it imo. I was so excited for the “conclusion” of the prologue quest (scare quotes because what was concluded?) and it turned out to be about an hour of “run here, do trivial task, learn almost nothing.” And the new quest and fish plushies were the *only* new content in this patch that weren’t premium store offerings! It felt super phoned in and considering they’ve had months to create this quest I don’t think it bodes well for the depth of storytelling we can expect in the future. The sheer number of bugs and instability introduced with each new patch also show that they’re rushing (or skipping?) QA and frankly they’ll never have a game with wide appeal without better performance and more polish. I think the game really started to take a nosedive in quality when the layoffs happened earlier in the year. Typical C-suite / investor mentality, cut the workforce down to a skeleton crew and have more of them working on premium store items to make more money. But why should players pay out the nose for some outfits when the game has barely any content to make it worthwhile to play? They could build a lot more goodwill with their players and convert more players into paying ones if they would just fix the switch version, make the game more stable in general, and make the content more rewarding.

I 100% agree with a lot of what you said. First, the premium shop is WAY too pricey. I've spent my fair share of money in there, but it's always pre-planned to ensure I'm totally happy with what I got and feel like I got the most for the chunk of money I'm spending. I think that some of the sticker shock could be reduced by offering pieces of an outfit for fewer coins. For instance, I absolutely LOVE some of the newer outfits, except for the head pieces (looking at you, Lunar Devotee). I only want the dress portions. If they offered me a way to buy the pieces I want in say, one color swatch for a fraction of the coins, I'd be ecstatic. I think they'd also get a lot more transactions that way. It's a lot easier to justify for those who can't afford to spend a lot of money in the shop, if they can drop $5-10 and grab pieces they actually love. (Maybe I'm part of that weird group that looks at each individual piece when I'm buying an outfit to see what I would mix/match it with.) Second, I have delayed doing the main story quests for that reason. I don't want to blitz through the new content; AND the servers were borked so I couldn't do it even if I wanted to for a while. As a player, it's pretty frustrating to see how much goes into the premium shop and still have such significant playability issues. Obviously they have to make money, but what good is providing things to purchase if the player quits playing due to server instability, or the fact that they ran out of things to do besides decorate? I also completely agree with the repeatable quests idea. They could easily put a quest/task board in Kilima where NPCs can post jobs for players to do. "Reth has run out of [fish] and needs someone to bring him 5 of them", "Eshe's chef left and she would like to purchase a [random food]. She's willing to pay premium for a quality version", or "Jel is out of silk! He's begging someone to bring him 10 silk for his new project"... something like those would be great daily/weekly quests. Idk... just a thought. I don't have the time or inclination to go talk to every single NPC to try to find out their weekly wants, especially when sometimes they tell you what someone else wants instead of themselves. I think if they did a quest board they could drop the weekly wants and just have NPCs tell you what their favorite things are in conversation and leave it up to the player to decide to give them something or not. That's just my opinion though.

So I think it may be! It’s a first of its kind and I really hope it’s not the last! Cozy MMO, decorating, mini games, hanging with friends, it’s my first experience with all of that together! The problem is it always leaves us wanting more, and not in a fun way. I just keep hoping they bring more every patch but I really don’t know at this point 🥺

I am quite ok with the bundles since they are a bit harder goal to achieve in the game, and at the same time, it's a doable accomplishment. I don't fully understand why people complain so much about them after saying there is not much to do in the game, when the bundles take some time to finish. But i agree with everything else tho. I'm used to spend money in games, as i come from Riot games, and the skins there ARE expensive. BUT, i understand why people look at Premium shop in Palia like that, cuz they have the possibility to give us separate things of the same outfit, in a cheaper way. They were the ones who gave us the possibility to cross outfits in the costumization, so it is doable. The thing is, at the moment, there's some kind of culture around gacha games, and that changed transactions overall. Putting this alongside the repetitive gaming and the lack of content, it's very frustrating, as i was using Palia to get out of PvP games, and i feel like i have accomplished everything there is.

I have been feeling really frustrated with Palia as well. I agree with what you saying. I am maxed out on my plot decor so now I have to start over...remove things..or redecorate to incorporate new items. I'm working on my bundles and it's pretty much up to the game when I get the item. It's super frustrating. Since the new update..I can't add anything to the night sky temple my cursor doesn't work. So I'm wondering what's in store for Palia as well. I was surprised that the new story line was so short and easy. I was sad about that.

The core element being plot decor, there are real issues with that mechanic. Number one, with the introduction of building blocks the decor limit is far too low now. 3000 goes by in an instant. Also the home tour board has become a popularity contest based on the size of your discord followers, not the quality of your work. Glitching has become the main method of decorating instead of creative use of the materials they way they were intended to be used. All of these issues need to be addressed for the game to have a long run

Remember that palia is not complete. We’ve been waiting for more quests, but players who start now, the last act of the prologue will not be that disappointing.

I feel the same, Palia need something more as quest line or side quests, and yes the shop items are to much compare to other game shops. I play off and on now and when i log on after awhile it just seems the same nothing new , i check my farm chat with NPC's then log off. it's sad cause i like the game

The one time i tried to buy something from Palia, i couldn't. Contacted customer services and was told is an issue with the specific bank i'm my country. It feels extremely disappointing honestly, and it also feels like it would be an issue that could be solved on their part, because SOMEHOW, i'm able to buy from Steam, Battlenet, EA app, twitch, youtube, etc, for years! and never have an issue, but for Palia there IS an issue with the bank?? Anyway, Palia coins are also pointless, they would be better off just putting real amounts because then there wouldn't be any (kind of) predatory bundles. Personally i think people would be more inclined to purchase things if there wouldn't be any "leftover" coins. I agree with the quests, they don't feel rewarding, i haven't played much Palia since it released on steam which makes me really sad because i did really love the game, played it since closed beta and had so much fun. I also have it on switch and its so buggy and laggy that it again, makes me sad.

For Palia I am currently enjoying completing goals like getting all the plushies and collections like fish and bugs. Once those are all done though I do hope all the big new content is out because when I am out of goals I run out of reason to play. Decorating has been fun but I am not always in the mood for it. I hope the slowed down content means the new area and content will be big, new, and fulfilling when it does come.

I enjoy Palia but I have to take fairly long breaks sometimes when I'm feeling like things are stagnant or too repetitive. I do feel like quests are a little unfulfilling, like for the most part they're just to progress and you're not only not having to do much but you're not really being rewarded in a significant enough way to feel like "Yes! I finally finished x and got this thing I've been wanting for so long and now I can use it to do things more efficiently" or in combat or something to that effect. I also think they did themselves a bit of a disservice by having no combat whatsoever. Not even PvP but just PvE content would be great. I'm cool with no fall damage because I'm clumsy AF and will always find a way to fall off of things, but there being no real dungeons and no reason to carry food around other than a boost in skill XP, no risk whatsoever really (other than just gambling your life away on Zeki coins..), has turned off my friends from the game completely because to them there's nothing to do that is challenging. And I'd like some of that in a game where I can also have this level of customization to my housing plot and all the plushies and fun stuff that you don't normally get in games that are more challenging but also free to play. So I definitely think that Palia still needs a lot more work. When I saw the preview trailer of the patch and saw damage numbers pop up in the video, I won't lie that I got my hopes up a bit thinking they might have added some content that required you to improve your damage output thus requiring a bit more effort and armor and all that. And I get that was too much to expect from one patch, but seeing that it was only a visual effect from a skin on their shop.... That was really disappointing. The game scratches certain itches but not enough of others, so in this way I'd have to vote more toward "a stop on the way".

On my main account I have completed every accomplishment that there is in the game thus far and have maxed out gold but I love the game so much that I created a second account to have things to actually do in Palia in between updates (and to plushie trade with myself). Lol! I’ve had that second account 3 weeks and have already completed well over 75% of all available game accomplishments. It definitely gets repetitive and for someone maxed out there is little to no incentive to check in on the daily for things like loot piles etc because once you’ve gotten all the recipes or quests who wants to run across the map for ONE corn?!?! Everything you said is true and I 100% agree. Hopefully new things will continue to be added and the game will be around awhile because it truly is a great game. At the end of the day, Palia to me is a very chill place I can enter into to relax and unwind and I have met you & Ellee and a whole host of AMAZING new friends so all in all I couldn’t be happier! I love helping newer players and fellow committee members when I can. Nothing but love for you guys! ❤

I love palia, I don't play as often at the moment. I was also very surprised and disappointed that I finished the main quest within an hour. I had planned to space it out but each 'quest' within that main quest was so short it made no sense to me

Basic economics (correct me if I'm wrong) somewhat lower prices within minimal profit means more people will buy it and therefore due to the amount of people who've bought stuff they'd make almost the same if not more profit than currently

Well if this is all there is going to be, they need to fix decorating in this game... as it blows IMO. I don't want to have to look up YT glitches and take hours to place things where I want them. We also need more/better colorways of furniture. I come from The Sims and this is not acceptable. I have spent a LOT of money on outfits in this game ($500+) also but it's the same ole, same ole running around in a new outfit doing the same stuff. I once wrote a big rant in the comments here about the state of Palia and what were they doing with our money (lol) so I won't go into all of that again. But yeah, it's not hitting for me. The outfits are too high and it seems like it's a grift with not putting much work into the game. Shouldn't they have hired some people back now that they have big company money behind them? All I can say is the Elderwoods better be worth all this wait and lack of content.

The main problem with Palia is the primary game play loop itself. That game play loop being to go out into the world, collect resources, then return home and decorate. The problem with that right now is decorating your house is a lot of fun but the gathering the resources part is just grindy and boring. Other than Zekki's Underground there really isn't anywhere in Palia to go do anything... other than gather resources in the most basic way possible. There is no actual game to play. There's nothing to do out in the open world. The temples briefly give you something else to do, but it's not repeatable, and the only real reward you get for them is getting the ability to do the bundles, which is just gathering yet MORE resources in the most basic way possible. Resources I'd rather be spending on my house, not unlocking furnishing plans. All the temples do is give me the "opportunity" to divide my resources and force me to grind more. You are supposed to grind to get the ability to do something fun that you couldn't do before. Not do something fun to unlock the ability to grind out a chore. Who thought that was a good idea? In fact why were resources spent on the temples at all if they're not repeatable? Why weren't those resources put into the open world where it would actually help the game as a whole? I uninstalled Palia back in May. Early next year when the Elderwood zone comes out I'll give it another try. But the Elderwood needs to complete the game play loop that is missing right now. The open world and gathering resources needs to have variety and be fun. If it fails in that, then Palia as a whole fails. And there will be no second chances. They will have had a year and a half when Elderwood comes out. If they can't get one zone right in that amount of time then they're never going to.

Yes, the shop is too expensive. They should be going for quantity sales. Someone put real work into those designs but come on. I added more land that I cannot use. I learned I need to look up more before I buy something from the shop. The places I am use to searching for palladium, now never have any. Nice we know that around 12pm a forest of trees will spring up but it can be on either side of the wall. This gets frustrating. I like the look of the game. I have not completed all of the quests yet. It seems for you? They are too easy. I do not have hours to mess with them so eventually I'll do that but not a priority since those annoying wind tunnels are....well annoying to have to work with.
