land of the free home of the gay . i know
i remember when Coupville was so sweet 30 years ago but now its lost all its charm, plan no bathrooms
Not !!! windjammer ( its called city beach)
Very nice....
That is why Tyndall AFB FL own all that land on the Island down to Mexico Beach AND REFUSES to sell it or let developers build on it. Because afterwards they be griping about the jet noise. Just like they do now in Valparaiso Florida right out side Eglin AFB FL with the F-35. And you got the same thing going on around Camp Bullis on the north end of San Antonio TX. Homes being built around military base that existed before homes did. Remember these bases bring jobs and revenue you got to take the good with the bad and give and take. YOU knew the risk.
Such a great video ❤
We love Coupeville💯
I live directly under one of the flight paths near OLF and can honestly say the noise is deminimis. I love watching the planes go over and have no complaints. Every real estate transaction in the clearly defined noise zones here on the island requires the buyer to sign a waiver acknowledging the issue. If you bought property and then complained, the problem is you, not the Navy. Fly Navy!
What an amazing house
Ault field has been there since before WW2, air fields are noisy, if you buy a house near there and expect not to hear the jets, that’s your fault, don’t buy near a military airfield
Born at the Sea Plane Base in '57 and raised out in the wooded country. Oak Harbor was just a little Dutch and Navy town that no one had heard about yet back then. Great childhood times going everywhere on bicycles and exploring the woods, cliffs, and beaches. Sigh... all gone in housing developments now but they still live in my memory's eye.
I prefer my memory version from the 60's, so glad I didn't retire there!
The sound of Freedom
I didn’t see the town of Freeland in the video
First arrived on Whidbey in 1970 as a young Naval Aviator and left in 2009; lived with a Coupeville address, with a few short spells, for the entire time. Looking at the videos of Oak Harbor reminds me of how different it is now. Then there was no McDonald’s, no big box stores, no City Beach, Midway was two lanes, one traffic light on the whole island, and I could go on and on; it was a great small community and Coupeville was even smaller. The first house I bought in Coupeville on Front Street cost $11,000.00 and five acres near the Engle dairy farm was $5,000.00; oh how have things changed. Again, I could go on and on; built a few homes that you showed just east of Ponel, sic., that you showed in the vid. plus many, many more all over the island north of Greenbank. Thanks for the video, brought back a few memories.
I was out There In April, Fell in love with Whidbey Island, !
Where on Whidbey can you not fly a drone besides the Naval Air area?
I love my town!
My hometown in the 1980s! I dream about it now and then….I also worked at Prima Bistro in 1990 as a busser- it was called Star Bistro then! ❤
There’s an evil cult in this town. I been here before .
Most people don't know about it, even those that have lived there for a while.
Yeah, I was passing through and I got a weird feeling that people were watching me. Went to visit the Freemason Lodge in Main Street and I didn't stay long, I'll tell you that much.
One of my favorite places, along with San Juan Islands!
Just don’t go in the water! It’s poisoned!
The loud music is used to drown out the Growlers
that no longer exist....
Coupeville is just gorgeous - have to walk the Ebey's Landing bluff, stop for baked goods at the Little Red Hen then lunch and beer at Toby's.
How exciting for you, Melene!
Are the homelessness hanging around down town all the time there?
This was nice and Oak Harbor looks nice. I love and miss the seagulls. I was afraid it was filling up with homelessness hanging out all over down town, are they still doing that?
yes . its gotten a lot worse
Why do people always play this loud music when showing Whidbey Island, when it is quiet there and should be shown as the sound of quiet??
What about those military planes??
Is aircraft noise a problem for the residents?
You could see my Parents hone from theCoupeville Dock...It was on the Highway 20 side of Penn Cove..
bonjour-Melenethompson,thanks!excellent vlog-till next time. =))
‘sup?. Love it-you uploaded perfect picture~have a great day,;))
I live on $803 a month on my student account right now because they've stolen all my money since July 28th 2021 they've been drugging me in my home all my food is gone it's been drugged they even put human in here I remember from 1976 being in Mexico taking away from my dad and sold by Jesse Eyler Dearman vs Las Vegas Nevada 1977 Their daughter Erica deerman did heroin in her charge and I logged inmate Serena out of the Fallon Nevada reservation attacking President Obama's Foundation as I'm a member of his foundation now So is my husband Trevor Johnson who has been married to us by Pope Francis of Italy Paris France and London and Mayor Stanford
Melene is the best! <3
Beautiful! I wonder about the story behind the name "Possession Point".
The noise created by the engines of the Growlers are far less intrusive than the straight jets of the Grumman A-6 & EA-6B'S That came before them these newer aircraft are almost silent in every angle you encounter of them until they are flying directly away from you! Far better than hearing them from any and every direction they may be from you. I cant see them being anywhere near the noise poluters that they have seen to replace. Small thanks for large relief is in order if anything! The men flying them have of their hands full of their own lives trying to get abourd a tossing ship in the dead of night maybe the pass that would have seen to offend of someone was the one that gives them the confidence to do so! !Allowing them the chance to come home to their family and your neighbors! I know that the sound of those jets have haunted my nights more than most wondering if i'd ever again hear of the one that would see to have my father return home. The noise over time becomes settling and not one i would believe to see of anyone full of regret for purchasing of a home at least not on of their account. That however is only my opinion an opinion of someone the noise of those jets has see to have had of a large effect. May God Bless all who may endure of the noise of these jets and all those who found of their untimely end in of them, their familys listening for the sound of every next one of them to again and again bring of them home! If of nothing else that sound makes for a lot of really proud kids. Go Navy!
Looks like a fun spot!
Looks beautiful!
Looks like a blast! Would love to kayak on Whidbey this summer!
