      Thank you very much, @@goose278 The hubs that you have them bolted to now, are they stock to this mower? The main reason I ask that is. I find it hard to believe that the hubs have set screws on them, which of course as you have seen, bugger-up the axle a bit, each time they are taken off and re-installed again. That's more of a 'dry environment, stationery electric motor to shaft' way of doing things Most mowers I have worked on, have a channel bolted onto, or held over the end of the transmission housing (you have those holes available on yours there too), that acts as a seal guard, and then the axle has a 'bushing' slid over it, and some spacer shim washers. Which of course forces the use of the snap ring on the end of the axle shaft again, and allows the hub to move back and forth (float a bit) on the axle just a bit. About 1/32 of an inch is a good target amount for the 'float' range. This tiny bit of movement helps to keep the axle shaft to hub from rusting into place.

      Plus you welded in between the gears, should be good to go. Like you, I thought about adding weld so the gear’s couldn’t gain momentum before stopping against the weld in between the teeth. However, I thought about it after the fact. However it seems to be holding up just fine and I’ve definitely beat the crap out of it doing stuff for video content I wouldn’t normally do 😅. Plus I’ve got at least 4 other complete transmissions in stock so it doesn’t really bother me too much if I break one. If you don’t mind me asking, what is it you do for work? • @Tennesseemountainhomestead
    @Tennesseemountainhomestead 10 місяців тому

    If I had to guess, I’d say the shaft broke, not the welds. It happened to mine also. I’ve got the Peerless 2300 in mine and I think you’ve got the 820? The Bull gear and carriers in both of them are basically identical. I welded the shaft to the gears, and I welded in between the teeth of the axle gears, so that if it broke, the gears could not mesh and it would still be “locked”. After it broke, I thought the welds broke but after investigating it I found the pinion gear shaft itself is what sheared in half. I put it back together with another shaft from another transmission. This time I did not weld the gears to it. I just left it with the welds in between the teeth of the spider gears. It’s not locked up tight like a solid axle or anything but it seems to be holding fine and both wheels will still turn at the same time. It’s actually a little more forgiving because the wheels can move slightly independently of each other and it seems to help just pushing it around in the shop. Anyway, I did a video on how I initially welded it and another one where I opened it up after it broke. The whole thing started by watching Redzz02 video on how to weld/ lock a 2300 series transmission which is linked in the description of the first video. You might just go with a solid go cart axle and doc locker at this point though, plenty of videos on that out there too

Anyway, that gives me an idea because I just have an air filter clamped right on the end of my carburetor Intake. I’ve tried jetting the carburetor up and down, but I can’t get rid of the off idle stumble. I think maybe like you said it’s just two free-flowing. That thing looks and sounds great. That 820 is so cool because you can shift on the fly. I have an 801 in the 111 and it’s the same way it’s just not pulley swapped, but you can shift on the fly with it. The next tractor I build is going to have an 820! The one thing that I don’t like about the tractor I’ve got is that you cannot shift on the fly like that with the peerless 2300. Nice work! I really like that battery switch. That build is sure coming along beautifully! My son was wondering what transmission you have in it? We are sitting here watching on TV, forgive me if I asked before or you mentioned it on a previous video!

      Hey Jason, thanks for the input! This horse has the peerless 820. Our weather in GA. is not too bad , looks like we're warming up on Thursday. Should be able to get some time in running her out back. Hope the ice is melted up your way.

      It’s been below freezing for an entire week here. Tomorrow is supposed to be a high of 47 and then the next 3 days it’s gonna be high 30’s in the morning and high 50’s to low 60’s in the afternoon with rain Tuesday through Thursday. I think that will get rid of the ice finally. Thank you for the information on the 820, we will be looking out for your video!

    Yup can't explain it. I have a Kawasaki Vulcan Classic and Nomad sitting in the garage yet I'm out on my Motorized Bicycle. No explanation needed, just enjoy! 😁👍
