From the beginning of the project I had just recently re-watched the spider verse movie and I was inspired. I really like the soundtrack, so I decided that I would want to make a film with the music. First off, I started by searching for inspiration. I looked over UA-cam, some UA-cam videos and the styles that I wanted to incorporate in my video. Then I created a two column script. When creating it I really had to imagine what each scene would actually be like so I could translate it into words to allow me to have a clear vision. Creating the story board wasn’t hard. Previous knowledge was working with technology and drawing digitally. I wanted this short film to be as close as possible as an actual film, and one of the key factors of a film is that it evokes emotion. the viewer is seeing the character at the lowest and the highest experiencing emotion. So I decided to write a comeback story fueled by motivation. This will allow the audience to see the main character at his lowest and what he does about it. I wanted to make the audience see the power of what motivation can do and how the mindset can switch. In the beginning we emphasized on the emotions of anger, disappointment, sadness, and anxiety (with the pen flicking, which really worked out as a compare and contrast). Then when we focussed on determination and will power you could see that there was no more anxiety (pen flicking stopped) which I found was a good addition. In the process of story writing as well I also decided to add a next level element of symbolism to the video. Nearing the beginning of the video, you can see the desk appearing to be extremely disorganized and near the end, it gradually becomes more tidy. The junk on the desk represented the piled up work. This was a subliminal hint and symbolism of how working off and not procrastination leads to a more organized lifestyle. I found this a really great addition. I overall enjoyed the process of making it. Editing of the video was not too difficult and I also enjoyed experimenting with the color correction of teal and orange. This was a fun project overall.
