I think the most tragic part of her ending is that she was a child preyed upon a demon, in a moment of desperation. It's clearly hinted that she was being sexually abused and her mother wasn't stopping her father. No one believed her. And then this demon in the form of another little girl came along and offered to rescue her. There's no way that child Bela understood what she she would be giving up to the demon/hell.
