Driving over Buttertubs pass from Simonstone towards Thwaite. A drive not for the faint hearted where the summit reaches about 1,725 ft ASL. This is an amature video for pleasure and not for profit.

Tan hill 2019. Highest pub in Britain at 1732 ft ASL
Переглядів 1465 років тому
Driving up to the Tan Hill inn which at 1732 ft above sea level is the highest pub in Britain. Video shows the bleak landscape when suddenly, like an oasis, the Tan Hill appears like a beacon to the thirsty traveller who can be assured of a warm welcome and great food. This pub is somewhat unique in the sense that it is completely off the power grid and generates its own electricity.

After several attempts I have finally managed to edit some gopro footage and put a piece of music onto it. Music is by Isla Grant called "listen to the children".

Fabulous
Beautiful, reminds me the TV serie...I would like to see one day the new one but it is hard from here! I read the book too and I think it is great! grettings from Costa Rica!
At the same time, the man driving that black Mercedes was playing Piano Parchment on the car stereo.
Scenery wise, the Yorkshire Dales are not too dissimilar from West Marin CA.
This is fantastic. I will be travelling to Yorkshire next year and was wondering how you get to The Watersplash Can you please tell me what the village was that you set off from . Thank you
Hello and greetings from Ireland. The nearest village is called Langthwaite and has only a pub in it called The Red Lion. Some scenes from All creatures great and small were filmed in the village. The bridge in the village was shown in the opening scenes. The pub car park that I left from is called the CB Inn. CB stands for Charles Bathurst Inn. The CB Inn is very close to Langthwaite. Drive out of the CB car park turning left and just down the road turn right into a very narrow road and keep driving until you hit the splash, just like the video. Hope you enjoy your time in the Dales.
@@stephenkeogh412 Thank you so very much for your detailed and extremely helpful information. I look forward to visiting this beautiful area next year. I have been a fan of All Creatures since the 1990’s and am so excited to be seeing the Watersplash and other locations on my visit next year . Are you able to tell me the name of the road you turn right down? I don’t want to miss the turn off . Thank you once again . Kind regards Jacqueline
@@jacquelinetilly8300 I'm sorry I just can't think of the name of the road but you won't miss it because it's literally a few hundred yards from the CB car park. It is very narrow at the start but gets a little wider as you go.
@@stephenkeogh412 Thank you . I am sure i will get there . Many thanks again for your kind help ( and wonderful videos) Jackie
All I kept thinking was "Don't break! "
I spent a many years in my 20,s going to Askrigg from London, thanks for sharing 👍
Does anyone know the location of this road in the Dales ? heading up there on Monday so it’d be nice to drive it, I’ve got everywhere else mapped except this location
Set your sat nav for the CB inn DL11 6EN. With your car facing out of their carpark, turn left and a few hundred yards down the road turn right into a narrow road and continue driving about 2 miles , maybe less and you simply won't miss it then. Hope this helps.
studio.ua-cam.com/users/videoe9uFzVn_5xY/edit. Check this and it will show you the way.
For a real reenactment you need an Austin 12/4, not a modern car.
Exactly! James Herriott never drove a Mercedes Benz.
So beautiful ❤️
Why so short?..
I was supposed to visit Yorkshire in October 2020, but Covid-19 canceled the trip.
Same here, I was due to visit around the same time but Covid-19 has put all our plans on hold.
@@stephenkeogh412 I was going to visit the entire British Isles by first flying to London and taking a train to Yorkshire, then I was going to drive to Edinburgh from there.
@@marvinthemaniac7698 I have not been to Edinburgh, I'm told it is a beautiful city, but some day I will get there if we can ever travel again.
@@stephenkeogh412 that makes two of us.
I live there it's great to see vids about it
After all these years, they still never built a bridge over the stream.
No theme music??
💖💖💖 I love Askrigg!!!
As a fan of "All creatures, great and small" I have been there twice. Askrigg is a wonderful little place. I was fortunate enough to have the "Botom Chappel" twice as a B & B. Meanwhile, the B & B is sold, as the wonderful couple no longer wanted to operate a B & B for reasons of age.
Yes, Askrigg is a lovely little village and I find it so very peaceful there. I usually try to stay with Lisa and Keith in Skeldale house which is an excellent guest house.
@@stephenkeogh412 Next time I go to the Dales, I'll definitely take a room at Skeldale House.
Lovely!
Love it! Hello to another All Creatures fan! I've just been to the Herriot museum today. I NEED trip to Askrigg soon! Lovely video.
Thank you. I have just come back from Askrigg, I just love North Yorkshire especially Askrigg. Keep an eye on my youtube channel for similar videos.
Mike great bloke great music
looks a nice place
You're so lucky to have been to Yorkshire. I've wanted to go for over 10 years now.
You would enjoy it Andy, it is a place filled with beauty and very friendly people. The air is crisp and fresh, the beer is great and the food is produced on the land that surrounds you. Hope you can make it there one day.
Thank you, I've been to London and a few small towns near there but I'd really like to visit Yorkshire if I ever get back to England. Especially York, Whitby, and Thirsk.
I have been to London and some of the surrounding areas but found the pace of life too fast. Things are more relaxed and easy going up in Yorkshire. The only problem is that once you set foot in Yorkshire, you will be drawn in to it and have a burning desire to keep returning.
👍 Thank you for taking us into Askrigg! We love to come back soon! (just like we've been comming for the last 30 years!) 😍
Thank you. Check out Askrigg part 2 and Askrigg from the moor road.
Lovely, Stephen! Thank you! Askrigg is one of our favourite spots!
