    I’ve known REDMOND RealSalt®since about 2002 and have written a Story or two about REDMOND, but this “review” by my friend, Multiple Award-Winning Blues Master & Chef, NICK VIGARINO, is THE BEST EVER: Hey Dennis … Believe it or not, I have over a dozen salts in my cupboard. I've hand- carried salts from the mines in the Sacred Valley of Peru, from the Pacific in Trocones, Mexico, from the Mediterranean when in Corsica, and from the North Sea in France. I have many colors as well: blue Hawaiian, black German, green Madagascarian, gray Spanish, and of course, pink Himalayan and a varying array of whites coming from Utah to China. I won't even go into my smoked, truffled, etc. stash. I share this with you because since you've sent those REDMOND RealSalts® I seem to be grabbing them first while cooking. I appreciate how mellow, yet potent the smoked salt is. It's sparkly clean, and it’s bold, but not overpowering like most hickory or mesquites I've tried. I'm not sure the combination of woods used, but they got it right! It'd be hard to find a dish that The Organic Season Salt wouldn't brighten up. I appreciate the immediate hit of pepper then salt, then it seems to finish off with a nice balance of celery and turmeric? Again, whatever the spice combo is, it works for me. Refreshing to have the spice blend enhance flavor of the salt instead of the other way around.” - Nick V. O’s UP! To Your Health … ALWAYS! Dennis Weaver Change Your Food - Change Your Life!™

    49:25 "The negative PR fallout from our union-busting was devastating. So it's really ironic that their attemt at protecting their jobs really harmed their jobs." Are you seriously blaming the people trying to unionize, for the pushback you got for busting them? Seriously? Let me spell it out for you, because you seem to have trouble understanding it: That's on YOU! Those are the consequences of YOUR actions!

    • @brandsforabetterworld
      @brandsforabetterworld 2 місяці тому

      We didn't see her statement as blaming the employees for the bad press, just that she found it ironic that the bad press impacted the business in a way that impacted their jobs. She definitely should have handled the whole situation differently, we agree, and we believe she admits the same in this conversation. Entrepreneurs are human and make mistakes, and sometime those mistakes cost a lot of people their jobs. We feel the important thing is to learn from those mistakes - and by sharing this story we're helping other entrepreneurs learn from her mistakes, which is why we felt this was an important interview to share. Thanks for chiming in with your take on the situation. It's helpful to hear from all sides.

    • @Infernovogel
      @Infernovogel 2 місяці тому

      @@brandsforabetterworld I appreciate this response. But what does it mean to say "I find it ironic that the bad press negatively impacted the company and thus your job". It's ironic explicitly because she says the employee tried to protect the good things about the company, and the way she went about it resulted in the good things going away. That's what's ironic about it, right? Because if she were _not_ blaming the employee with this statement, she would be saying something like: My union-busting actions caused bad press which hurt the company. I don't really find anything ironic about that, am I wrong? That's why I honestly did not get the sense that they learned much at all. I absolutely agree that entrepreneurs are people who get to make mistakes and you rightly point out the potential cost of those mistakes. The reason I was so agitated in my original post is precisely _because_ it feels like they are somewhat doubling down on their original mistake of treating employees as resources. Yes they talk about providing a great workplace, but when push came to shove, they opted for "do what you're told, you don't get an actual say, you just get whatever we feel currently comfortable giving you". And I don't get the sense that they changed their mind about that approach. It seems like they are just going to be more up-front about that in the future, but have no interest in letting the people who work for them have an _actual_ say in how their work hours are spent. And you might say "that is their right as the boss, that's just how that works" and I'd say "fair enough". But then don't literally call your company "No Evil" and position yourself as this very socially aware "we do things differently" entity. Of course I cannot look into their hearts and see their intentions, this is just the impression I got from the interview. I don't want to contribute to toxicity, but I also don't want to just stand by and say nothing when It seems to me that there were a bunch of excuses, but no apologies.

    DMs with Sadrah were also leaked last year where she was saying she couldn't warn her production team about layoffs because she didn't have warning. And yet here she is saying that she knew on a Monday and fired the team on a Friday. That's at least a week she waited to tell them they'd all be fired without severance or their accrued PTO.

    Sadrah hired a notorious anti union law firm, conducted seven mandatory anti union meetings with traditional anti union talking points that have been used by companies for decades, plastered the warehouse with anti union posters, brought up a story about sexual harassment in a totally different union than the one her workers wanted to unionize with, and made sure pro union material quickly found its way to the garbage, but okay. She didn't realize she was union busting. How very believable.

      Thanks for chiming in. We felt like it was brave of her to come on the show and share her story knowing she'd be attacked, but we're a tiny podcast and don't have a team of fact checkers so we can't take any sides on who's telling the truth here, and invite anyone to tell their side of the story so long as they're respectful in their disagreement. So thanks for sharing what you know.

    This is really great !! Thank you for the reminder . This is so true though , it’s so easy to be wrapped up in all the tasks of owning a business and trying to achieve something greater . I really like how you all explained about setting a timer for the personal connection , I have so many times spent more time based on how the other person feels that we spend majority of the time about what was going on in their personal life . Then I’m frustrated because we missed the entire point of why we have a meeting . I’m a problem solver at heart that I try to help and fix their situation . by the time I had to move onto the next meeting , we really didn’t spend a lot of time on what the point of our meeting was . So thank you for reassuring me that it’s ok to set a timer .
