Titleist GT2 Review: Is This the New Longest Driver on the Market?
Phenomenal review 👍🤯
177 👀
Forgot to talk about the course play and how that can influence the ball. If you play lots of bump and run chips, then spin doesnt play a big part in this shot. If play on hard links type courses, NO ball is going to grab and spin. In lush soft greens, any ball will stop on greens. In winter, any ball will stop on greens. My coach is advising me to play different balls for different courses i play. In same way change wedge bounce and drivers for courses. This really is optimizing game
13.5 handicap…I play Legato LTX 3085. My swing speed is about 90-100. This balls good for my handicap and swing speed ? I also play ProV 1X when I get extra $. But feel like they are the same feel. Thoughts ?
I do not recall whether he mentioned that the Pro V1 is a 3 piece ball, as compared to the Pro V1x which remains a 4 piece ball. It's ridiculous to pay the same amount for the different models. I have switched to the Yellow Srixon Z star balls for the winter season and have dabbled with the new Maxfli tour balls, as well. Based upon my results and the $15 per dozen price difference, I may never go back!
I wouldn’t say ridiculous. More layers doesn’t always equal better, if that were the case everyone on tour would play the TP5. The ProV1 and ProV1x are meant to be very different balls but both super high quality, and they both accomplish what they are meant to better than just about any ball on the market. The 3 piece vs 4 piece was done internally by Titleist to get the desired results for the ball
I have been playing the Bridgestone RX series for a couple of years and I have never had a problem with the durability of the balls.
The average 15 handicap golfer who rarely hits fairways and greens or the center of he clubface is going to card a 90 with a range ball or a ProV1. Makes no difference for the average player.
@@ryanu3708 completely disagree. Would rather have them hit a ball that’s going to go a little farther and check a little more, that could very be the difference between an 89 and a 94
I’m switching to the Titleist left dash this year. It’s a great ball, but pricey
@@robertchristie8034 definitely a great choice for the long ball hitter
Have used Wilson staff ball's for years very underrated most people won't use them because they are not the big 4
Agree. Started using the Model ball toward the end of the season. It's really a great ball. He mentioned Srixon being the most underrated and I agree it is underrated. But the Wilson Model balls are 100% the most underrated ball out there. While Srixon doesn't get enough attention, Wilson gets no attention.
This kid doesn’t miss
my fitting went just like yours...although much less ss. the max k was low enough spin and more consistent than the x.
Right?! I was shocked at how good the max k was overall. I understand why Max Homa made the switch now
I got some Bridgestone 221 CBs recently. Do you have any data on those?
I don’t actually, I haven’t had a chance to swing them unfortunately. How are you liking yours though?
@@AKSGolfvery solid, would compare them closely to ZX7’s but like the aesthetics better. Pretty compact heel to toe. I switched from MP4 Mizunos. Get a little more distance but slightly less spin.
GT4 is a beast!!
Yessir absolutely
T350
The 10k looks sweet! I have the ping g430 STF and i can’t hit it to save my life. I game the taylormade mini driver now and hit so many fairways but lose distance. Would this help my game?
The 10k might for sure! I think it’s better overall than the SFT from Ping, but the mini would be its own separate category, and I never advise the mini taking the place of an actual driver in the bag
Every year it's the latest and greatest. It sells! Next year it will likely be vibrating club face. How about some lessons!
You’re preaching to the choir, lessons should almost always come before buying new clubs! I’m just here to tell you about the new stuff!
What about maverick what rank are they
Think Maverick was a captain in Top Gun...🤣
Seriously considering the Max K, but i just bought an Aerojet a couple months back when they dropped to $250. Maybe ill wait a bit for the Max K to be under $300 and ill pick one up then
For sure consider it, I’d definitely say the Max K is a big improvement for Cobra drivers as a whole
These are not even close to the most forgiving, what about the Cleveland launcher XL full face ?
DS Adapt LS is 445 CC not 430 CC.
Yes it is, I misspoke. Most LS models are 430 this one is a touch bigger at 445
What about the Cleveland Halo Full Face xl or Eleven all hybrids? I am genuinely asking not challenging your opinion.
The Cleveland’s aren’t a bad option at all! The all hybrid sets I’m not too familiar with in all honesty, but I probably wouldn’t recommend them unless you have a really low swing speed and need a ton of help getting the ball in the air. For that demographic though they could work well
How would you compare the jpx 923 tour to the Mizuno pro 241/243?
A little bit more offset and forgiveness in the 243, and honestly for me just as workable and feels a little better too so that would be my overall pick between the two
This Guy! Great video!
Cleveland Zipcore XLs are great
The major improvement from the 923 model and the 925 model came in forgiveness. The 925 is a lot more forgiving. Watch askgolfnut reviews on mizuno irons.
You need to do a show on shafts.
Would you want to see irons, driver or both?
Can’t believe you didn’t include Titleist in your driver analysis. Why was that?
They didn’t have a driver that released at the start of 2024. Technically the GT series released late in the year but I only wanted to include clubs that had been out for most of the year. That being said, GT2 would absolutely make this list
I’m a retired senior golfer, I golf 4 to 5 rounds a week. I’m currently a 11 handicap and my bag consists of ping 10k driver with the Ventus red shaft. 3,5,7,9 wood , ping g430 with graphite design tour ad iz shafts. My irons are mizuno 925 with aerotech steel fiber i60 private reserve shaft’s. My wedges are cbx full face2 in 50, 55, 60 lofts with aerotech steel fiber i65 private reserve shaft’s. Putter is Evnroll zero z1 with a BGT stability shaft.
That’s actually a super cool setup. If I could hand pick a shaft for my driver it would probably by ventus red. Love the putter choice as well, Evnrolls are super underrated, at least in the states.
When you can, also try or add the Tour Edge E series & Pxg Blk Ops to this list. I was on the fence between these & the Mizuno Hot Metal 925, but went with the Blk Ops.
Cleveland Zipcore xl ? they often come number one I thought
For slower swing speeds, maybe. They are a little higher lofted than others so they launch a little higher and carry a little further for people who don’t swing as fast as they maybe used to. But as far as overall forgiveness I’d take the other 5
I have the Zipcore XL, they are great!
Just finished my first true fitting and can’t wait to get my 243’s! Your video makes me feel like I really made the right choice thank you!
Nice man! You’re gonna love them, such a good iron
again the PXG Black Ops Driver is a sleeper great driver great video you did cheers from Canada
A iron you might be a surprise for you is the PXG Black Ops i could not believe them was a believer great review though some nice clubs cheers from Canada
Haven’t ever hit a PXG club, one of the only brands I haven’t tried. I have no doubt they’re solid clubs though!
I just got a set of new Pxg Blk Ops phone fitted with Mitsu Mmt stiff shafts. They are awesome. Great forgiveness, feel & sound. Plus I got the Heros discount. 👍🏻🇺🇸
@@chrisb9478 thats what i am thinking about also and the Gen 6 P and the Gen 7 P did you notice more distance and soft feel ? leaning to the Black Ops unless the others are better cheers
@ I almost went with the Gen7 0311 XP’s, but they were a good bit more $ and less forgiving than the Blk Ops. Pxg definitely has a lot of good iron sets though for all skill levels. My old irons were early 2000’s Callaway Big Berthas with reg. graphite shafts. With the Blk OPs I’ve had to go down a club because they hit a good bit further. Less sting on my hands with mishits too. Must be the elastomer core.
@@chrisb9478 mmmm interesting your steering me to the Black Ops so the Black Ops were more forgiving than the Gen 7 XP's ? thats awesome i think i will be ordering the Black Ops did you get any hybrids of the black ops ?
Wilson dynapower forged forgiveness?
Didn’t have a chance to test them. You think they would make the list?
Love it.
We should have a 3D head coming for the fitting cart in 2025
Curious to know where Callaway AI300s place in terms of forgiveness
They super solid, just missed the cut. They have a ton of offset which I know is normal on more forgiving clubs, but it’s enough to throw the looks way off for me personally
I enjoyed your information. I might have suspected that the Srixon ZX4 or the AiSmoke might have been on the list, but your candidates are good as well. If you don't mind some constructive criticism, take your hat off so people can see your face. More importantly, quit moving your hands so much while you are talking. It is very distracting and harder to focus on what you are saying. Plus the microphone picks up the impact noises what your hands come together.
Zx4 was a solid iron but the super thin top line of it was actually a negative for a lot of high handicap golfers we fit because they found it intimidating to look at
Ai smokes were pretty comparable to the Qi’s for me, and ZX4’s are definitely a good option too, their V-sole is great for turf interaction. Appreciate the advice!
Keep it up man. Algorithm had me stumble across you. Keep it rolling. Hope we cross paths and play one day ✌🏼
Will do, brother, hope we get a round in too 🤙
Primo hat!
Of course
After the season I got fitted by Titleist for a Titleist GT2 8° with a Tour AD UB-7X shaft. It's a beast.
@@SvingitGolf that’s a dope set up
No Wilson’s? Odd.
Didn’t get a chance to hit any of them last year! Which clubs are the best from them?
@ Their irons are ridiculously good. I’m a lifelong Mizuno fan and recently switched to Wilson. Should qualify that with I’m going to hold on to my mp64 and jpx921 forged, but for now the Wilsons are in the bag. What clubs? Their staff model line (blades and cb) for low handicap and dynapower forged for pretty much everyone else.
I've had about every T driver since my 1st 983 model, a few Taylormade, Ping, Callaway, Cobra but Titleist clicks all the boxes for me. I was able to demo the GT3, GT2 at my course, higher launch with both and being much more forgiving using the GT3 but similar performance to my TSR2. Wanting to order a 2024 Ventus shaft for the TSR2 I found Titleist only had the older TR model so for a little more I ordered GT2 with the Tensei 1K Blue 55. Good numbers for me on the launch monitor for my old man swing. I'm keeping the TSR2 to compliment the GT2. Keep up the good work!
@@windmillcancersurvivor2568 I’ve never put a Titleist driver in the bag, but the GT2 could absolutely do it for me. You are 100% correct it checks every box you need in a driver
14 way bag is -1000 aura
@@natemikulski2649 most of the time yeah 😂
I got a set of 243s about a month ago and absolutely love them, I went from a qi10 ls to ai smoke TD and it’s been a game changer, like you mentioned you really have to have a fast swing speed to play the LS, great video man
Appreciate that, man! I play the ai smoke td as well, and I do think it’s a mph or two faster off the face, but for faster players nothing is as forgiving as the qi I’ve found. If I didn’t play zx7’s I’d definitely throw some 243’s in the bag!
What would you pick for high handicappers in fairway woods?
@@terrypeeples1942 Ping G430 SFT or Max probably. Cobra also makes some slept on woods
Love Mizuno!!!! Great video
Much appreciated! Yeah Mizuno would be on the short list for best irons in the world
Love my Ping 10K but the new G440 Max is also 10K and a nice blue. Can't wait to try it. DF3 was ordered with the Black Friday deal. The Spider was a beast in the hands of pros but it just never fit my eye. There is some kind of special sauce to that shape. Well done, TM.
@@lkae4 new 440 stuff definitely looks promising. Stay tuned for a full review! I recently got a CB putter too, can’t wait to try it on the course
What if you are a scooper?
For scoopers, most of the time the attack angle is positive, so instead of compressing the ball you’re just lifting. Think about the low point of your swing being a couple inches in front of the ball and don’t be afraid to move some ground with your divot!
boy the lighting in that store looks really good ;) great video!!!!
