      Thanks @flipkoofx1137! I didn't do much with the fronts, just swapped the OEM springs for 0.75 Traxxion Dynamics Omni Fork Springs and some preload adjusters. The front is super bouncy right now. Catalyst Reaction suggested putting 15w fork oil in to reduce the bounce.

      Nice man! If you want a quality front end set up, I'd suggest going for the Race Tech springs and emulators (racetech.com/product-search/#14) they feel really good, but do require some modification of your fork internals. For roughly $400 USD though, it's a great choice. For the next step up I'd suggest Andreani Misano Cartridges for about $600 dollars. This allows for the most adjustability. You can adjust the Race Tech emulators, but you have to pull the fork apart to do that.

    I really enjoy watching your videos man. I want to get in to track riding with my ninja 400 and eventually build up my skills and get a zx4rr. How long did you track your ninja 400 before jumping on the zx4rr?

    • @autojunkee
      @autojunkee 3 місяці тому

      Thanks man! I really love riding and putting together videos for everyone to enjoy! The Ninja 400 is an amazing bike and TBH, I would still be riding it now if Kawasaki didn't release the ZX4. I still have room to grow on my N400! I actually started track riding about 10 years ago on a Ninja 250 and moved on to a Ninja 300, which I raced on. I really took my time, and I was dead set on having competitive times on my bikes before moving up. Honestly, I'm not much quicker on the ZX4 and I think I could match the pace with my N400. The N400 is just so much lighter and easier to ride, but the ZX4 is a whole lot cooler. Let me know if you ever hit the track, would love to see some video!

    • @autojunkee
      @autojunkee 3 місяці тому

      Hey Garry! Nice bike! I love my Ninja 400R! I'm not sure what you're planning on doing with the ZX4, but its a completely different kind of bike. If you're gonna do more street/canyon stuff, I'd actually recommend that you stay on the 400. It took me 4 track days to get comfortable for with the ZX4 and I was actually running slower lap times until this past Monday. The lack of torque and the high gearing on the ZX4 made it really sluggish out of corners unless you're in the upper 3rd of the rev range. I had to really change the way I ride. All of my mods are on the descriptions on my videos. I'm currently running Pirelli SuperCorsa SC2 front and SC3 rears. The fronts still have plenty of meat left, but I burned through my rears in 3 track days and had to flip them for this 4th one. Conversely, I could run the same tires on my Ninja 400R for 1.5 seasons!

    • @garry636
      @garry636 3 місяці тому

      @@autojunkee Okay cool man that’s interesting about the lap times and tire wear! I’m currently riding like 90% track I was actually there at thunderhill east last Monday 😅 Love the ninja 400, still learning a lot on it but also miss the performance of my previous zx6r. Debating on whether to put some $$ into the 400 or invest in a slightly faster bike with better components. What kind of lap times were you getting on the 400 if you don’t mind me asking?

    • @autojunkee
      @autojunkee 3 місяці тому

      Oh, cool! We should hang out next time I'm out there! I always like more track friends! My fastest laps on an N400R at Thill East CCW were 2:14-2:15 and the fastest lap I got on the ZX4 was 2:12. ua-cam.com/video/J9CKNJqTpv0/v-deo.html I found the N400R just easier to ride overall, whereas the ZX4 really has to carry a lot more corner speed. The bigger pistons of the N400R really pulled me out of corners. Winning times for an N400R was around the 2:10 mark, last time I checked, with Rocco Landers destroying that time. He did a 1:56 in full race trim. ZX4 definitely has more potential, but the N400R isn't slow by any means. Let me know if you have any videos to share from Monday!

      Yeah, I wasn't really going for 0-60 times. You can see in the video that I'm not reving the motor or dropping the clutch to get off the line quickly. I'm just merging into traffic. If you look for some 0-60 numbers for a stock ZX-4R, it's about 4 seconds.

    How do you like the Andreani Misano Fork Cartridge kit? I'm considering getting it. I hate only having preload with the stock forks. Kawasaki gave us a fully adjustable rear shock which is pretty darn good, but let us down with the forks.

    • @autojunkee
      @autojunkee 4 місяці тому

      Yeah, I really needed them because I'm fat! At 190lbs I was max preload and still bottoming out the forks. The Andreani Misano's are great, worth every penny. Feedback is great, and most importantly, I haven't hit the point where I can't adjust them anymore. All of my other race bikes had Race Tech emulators and springs, and this just really makes adjustment easier. Great value for the money!

      Hahaha, it's funny you should ask, I don't like it. It definitely shifts faster but sometimes it mis-shifts and overall makes me feel a bit less precise. For example, I tried downshifting from 5th to 3rd into turn 2 and it only shifted down once.

    • @autojunkee
      @autojunkee 4 місяці тому

      I like it, but it's definitely a more technical bike to ride. You can't really rely on any power to pull you out of over braking or taking the wrong line. I enjoy it, but it's gonna take a few more days before I can get some decent lap times down. I think coming from an RSV4 you're really gonna feel the lack of power. Also out of the box, the suspension is just garbage for my 190lb frame. I think if you're closer to 150 the stock suspension might work for you.

      I can do a laptime like 15 seconds faster on my 2001 honda cbr 600 f4i sport with 113 hp than on my old cbr 125r with only 13 hp in my local race track, but ok, a lap there lasts only arround 50 seconds on average when looking at how fast people go on average. Just because he was far supperior in cornering. In tracks with not long straights, its the skill that matters, if all involved are not professionals, the engine displacement and power has like 0 power there.

      Is this your first bike? If so, I'd say go with the Ninja 400. It's a great beginner bike and will really teach you how to ride a bike. I actually got a bigger bike (SV650) as my first bike and moved onto a GSXR 600 which I think was actually a bad move. I heavily relied on the power to make up for my lack of skill. Now that I look back on it, I learned the most and got faster on my 300. Taking that knowledge to a big bike made me faster all around.

    Should I get a 300 or 400 ?

    • @autojunkee
      @autojunkee 2 роки тому

      It really depends what you want. A 300 is a great bike and can be had for a couple thousand dollars. The 400 though is a better bike in every possible way. It has more power, less weight, better brakes, and a stiff chassis. Way more confidence riding the 400 vs the 300. All that being said, if you're not competing in a race, a 300 is just as much fun as a 400 on the twisties or the track!
