Learn how to remove the cables directly below the relays. Be careful not to break the top connector release button. Plastic is fragile and can easily be snapped off. Life gently after the red Tab has been pulled out. Try to pull from the connector instead of the wires. Tough to do. GL

Porsche Cayenne High pressure fuel pump and more
I bet many Porsche owners make the same mistake. While I haven't yet performed this service on my Cayenne GTS, I did some research and picked up two bottles of Ravenol DTC-1 after watching a number of videos online. Many people recommended this product, but I was also considering the Valvoline 75W-90, mainly because of its Capri Sun-like packaging and built-in fill tube, which seemed convenient for the transfer case. After seeing this post, I now realize I made the right choice with Ravenol. I've heard that the transfer cases can be quite finicky and can react poorly to dirty or incorrect fluids, so I’m glad I saw this video. Hopefully, there’s no lasting damage to your Porsche’s transfer case after a few flushes with ATF. Thanks for the informative videos - trial and error is definitely how we learn.
I am having an unusual noise coming from the drive train but I am unsure of its origin. At the moment, I believe it is the cardan shaft. I have a used replacement part with half the mileage I have on my car now. Note. There isn’t a good market out there for 958 cardan shafts. Your eyes will twitch once you begin to see the prices. There is no parts out there. I had a local axle shop clean and grease the used new part. They had to become creative and use a non Porsche boot because there is no parts available. Luckily they have done this before for a Porsche shop. Fingers crossed.🤞 🔜 I’ll update with a new video showing me install the cardan shaft.
OMG we're trying to do this now. My honda was so easy. This car sucks
It appears VW theme is to try and eliminate the owner from doing their own repairs. Yes it’s a pain in the rear. I hope the video helps

@@Wantobe123 How do you take the actual bumper off? just with the allen wrench? my husband probably knows, but were both not totally handy. thank you for this video
Time 2:47 will explain what bolts you need to remove or reinstall back on. If I recall an Allen wrench should suffice. GL
How did you end up? I’ve got another bulb out on my car today. Need to find it. With these cars told the you where about of the outage. Heck my Escort GT told me in 1988. lol
Bro thank you!
I’m sure you’re kidding, but the process does help me.
@@Wantobe123 no I was being serious
@@Caleb-ug2if very welcome. Happy wrenching.
You pay more for beer than you do for gear oil.
Many moons ago I used to be a coors light guy. My one beer is 2-3 of thst. 😆 If the other oil brands were actual better, I’d buy it instead. VAL is a great brand.
A really overdesigned fixation for a wiper. I struggeled a lot with it.
Yeah. Definitely different.
@@Wantobe123 with a lot of patience, your video and anti rust spray I replaced my wiper. Thanks.
Not good German engeneering. I struggeld with this f.. metal piece. Never seen such a bad construction for a wiper.
The hatch release is a Rube Goldberg project. Horrible over complicated design.

I’d prefer to not break it.
Great video, but you can cut out all of the unnecessary details.
Everything from Volkswagen is dumb
Yeah. It is disappointing but they do it for more money!
No I don’t think it was a H7 because it has the Xeon base. Sorry for the confusion. I believe I bought the light at Orileys or advanced auto, provide your make and model or use the hanging catalog. GL
It wasnt an H7? What was it? Great work!
Pretty sure it’s was a D1S Xenon HID Headlight Bulb Pull your bulb and compare a H7 and Xenon bulbs. Very different.

How do those compare to spal? Ive considered a permacool for my big block since i dont have room for a belt fan
I’ve not researched the spal and someone else original installed the Perma over 20 years ago. I’ve just repaired mine. From what I’ve seen the spal fan look thinner and taller. The Perma versions are allot wider but I’d check the performance data and dimensions to compare which is better. Perma can be repaired but it’s expensive for it is. GL
How did you pull the sunroof back? Mine is stuck.
The sunroof is likely not straight with the rails. “Crooked”. Align and see if that helps with the movement
RAVENOL transfer fluid TF 0870 has resulted in a remarkable 95% improvement which has astonished me , so much that I’m planning two or three more flushes . I’m suspecting water getting in because mine is old design with short breather . I last changed fluid in 2020
Part 2 of my videos I drained and replaced with ATF Stec fluid. With a splash of Lube Guard Platinum. I will likely perform the fluid swap every three years. It’s easy and good insurance on your transfer case.
So I can do it without taking out the whole thing? I don’t have a hinge!
The bumper will need to be partial taken off but not entirely. Taking it off just provides more room. Really taking it off isn’t that bad. Time clean the the back side of it. GL
@@Wantobe123 and these take a T10 led bulb right?
Sorry. Don’t remember. Take it to auto-store to match up and then test lights before reinstalling it.
Did you figure out the bulb size?
@@Wantobe123 not yet man. haven’t had the time. But when you get a chance get some LEDs on Tume. They’re cheap and super bright. Got some the other day. H15, high beams/DRL and H7 low beams.

Very welcome. Changing out your fuel ⛽️ pump? I have a video on that too

Wow, thank you! I assume because my videos are not fancy and just to the point. Appreciate it! More videos to come. Wife just destroyed her rear hatch. Painting a 928 bumpers and more
Hi! Quick question please! The locking ring? Did you have to prise the little tabs upwards and the pump housing lifts straight up? Or does the ring need to be tapped around a little? Not sure if there’s any kind of thread there?
Just tap it around. Mark the rings before unloosing. Lift pump out. It will be connected to the fuel hosed from the tank GL

Bro what are you doing?? All you need to do is screw the hose off the fuel pressure gauge on to the end of the fuel rail and start the car and you can check the pressure while it’s running
I know this and performed that task multiple times. I was trying to isolate the problem of the fuel pressure leak. I wanted to see if it the leak was before or after the fuel injectors. I found a ruptured straw fuel line inside the tank besides many other issues. I really doubted the fuel injectors were sticking on but I wanted to confirm before going back inside the tank. Thanks for the info though
did you do a video on the fuel pump replacement by any chance?
Yes I do. Just check through my posted videos. I also posted a video on replacing the high pressure pump too.

928 console switches are the worst. Since 2010 i've bought 5 window switches and a sun roof switch and right now I don't dare open the sunroof or drivers window because I can't be sure they will close again. How the design of these rubbish switches has not improved over the years to make them reliable is a mystery.
That is very unusual. While I don’t drive my car that often, I don’t really have any issues with the switches. A few years ago there was a mode to modernize the switches layout but I never bought it. I’d say you have a wiring issue. Or have bought bad quality switches. Get a volt meter and check for continuity. GL Illuminated Window Switches install instructions - Rennlist ... g.co/kgs/E7YkSL 2011. Wow how time flies. I know the guy he sold these kits.
My connectors are crumbled no idiot proof here lol
Hey, I’m crumbling too. Age gets the best of us. A good used resource is 928 international. My right rear connector crumbled too. Just bought a used one from Mark.

I don’t think it’s correct fluid 75-90 But good luck The valvoline has transfer case fluid
From my experience and everyone else has mentioned using 75/90. Are you saying the weight is wrong? Note: It’s actually performing great!
@@Wantobe123 For front and rear diff 75-90 yes But for transfer case safe choice would be Atf fluid or any transfer case fluid that is a atf with some additives But if it works for you Best of luck
@@tomrast9629 not arguing but thanks for the advice. I’ve been looking over information about it. I am going to replace the fluid with Ravenol transfers case fluid. I can tell you since I replaced the fluid, it hasn’t had an issue. I’d assume because the new fluid isn’t worn out. Anyways. Thanks

Do you have Bose system in your car?
Yes, (Bose) with the tire sub in the back. From my experience, Any car with fiber optics would be a Bose system. My new radio lasted about two years. I have since rewired the entire setup and replaced fiber optics with a standard 2 din touch screen Sony radio. I am much happy with the apple CarPlay
7 bar ????
The fuel pressure was being lost after cracking the car. All cars should have a static pressure for atleast 20-30 minutes. My car has a leak. Which causes warm startup issues. The gauge setup was trying to isolate the problem. Meaning In the tank or up front. It was in the tank with a ruptured tank line I had to repair. While I was in the tank I replaced the fuel pumps and regulator. GL on your project.
Thank you. Doing this on the exact same car. Hope it all turned out well for you.
No issues to report.
Very nice
Appreciate it
Difficult to see, but there’s no band on the lower side of the MAF if that’s what you were tightening. There’s only only one on the tops side where the rubber boot from the air box attaches.
Sorry very hard to video and UA-cam reformatted and some of the picture angle were lost. I have a hose band clamp for the bottom of the MAF and the top side is held into position by the air box. The air box has two bolts that sandwich between with two 10 mm nuts I think we are saying the same thing. 😀
Any videos on how to remove the MAFS?

I had a friend translate your message. First, I wasn’t aware of the electric car and or low pollution car laws in Europe. I have heard of laws not allowing you to drive your car to work if you lived a certain distance from work. It is sad to think Europe would fine those owners who have a classic car in the future. The US has not went that direction yet and I’m not looking forward to it. We do have catalytic emission laws and inspections in most states though. As of today, the US does not have the ability to support (full swap) all electric vehicles commercially or residential either. Thanks for sharing
the 911 is the poor man's 928. the 928 won two Bonneville Salt Flats fasted production land car (1986 and 2020). the 928 is the only sports car to win European Car of the Year. the 928 is the biggest bang for the buck in exotic sports/poster cars as well as the entire Porsche classic car line up. Even Magnus Walker is quietly building his 928 collection. the 964 is 40/60 weighth distribution and fish tails - not the 50/50 weight distrubted 928. While a grand tourer, the mid/high torque 928 is a more complete car as the 911 doesn't has less horsepower than the 928 and even today, classic porsche enthusiasts do not value off the line speed even for the 911. and Porsche made a tenth of 928s than they made 911s. No disrepect - just calling balls and strikes. Its now or never for the 928.
911 is the flagship of the company. Much like Mustang to Ford. The 912 was designed to keep those purist happy when the 911 came out. Meaning 4 cylinder engine for the 356 guys. Mr. Walker is interesting guy and I’m sure he is choosing the 928 because it’s a cheaper buy for projects. 928 death was due to being a difficult car to maintain besides other issues with Porsche not sharing many parts between models. Not a efficient build and is why the 968 died too! Fantastic cross bread of 944 and 928. I own a 928 and hope your right on the future of the next biggest car to hit it big. It’s an amazing car and thanks for your post. Cheers.
