Good and underrated radio. It's 3rd of the best book size Panasonic RF portables. First and second would be RB-B65 and B-60 (basically same radio but 65 with SSB capability) and third place I would give to RF-B45.

I'm pretty sure that antennas are directional, but I don't know exact heading from the transmitting antenna.

This one was made and sold only in Japan. No export version.

@@vladimir-dxdx7653 it's basically FM / AM radio only. On the big display, major Japanese AM broadcasters printed. It has 6 crystal-controlled SW frequencies of Radio Nikkei (Nikkei 1 and Nikkei 2) nationwide free-to-air shortwave commercial radio stations. Those 6 shortwave frequencies are fixed to Nikkei 1: 3.925 MHz, 6.055 MHz, 9.595 MHz. Nikkei 2: 3.945 MHz, 6.115 MHz, 9.760 MHz. Sometimes when you switch to one of them, you can hear something broadcasting. But you can't go out of them as I mentioned they are fixed.

Yes, you can manipulate it with separate bass and treble tone controls. Also, large speaker is an advantage. Today I did a comparison with one of my best radios on LW, and it a little bit disappointed me as I considered it to be very good on Longwave. But in general, I'm happy with it, as it's a little bit better on LW than average and good on MW. Also, it is in very good cosmetic condition and also suffered from a known "failing display issue," which I fixed.

@frooktik1 I didn't had a GA-800 but I think GA-800 is better. Because that loop diameter is bigger and it has automatic tuning so you don't need to tune manually like GA-450.

Kas dėl imtuvo, tai jo stiprioji pusė internetinis radijas, FM ir SW (daugiau / mažiau). SW diapozone yra kur tobulėti, bet dauguma atnaujinimų ir pakeitimų gali būti padaryti nuotoliniu būdu su versijos atnaujinimais, kas ir yra daroma. Gamintojas atkreipia dėmesį į trūkumus, netikslumus ir pastebėjimus, kas ir kur galėtų būti patobulinta ir dažniausiai sutvarko.

To be honest it is best on FM and SW. It makes a lot of RFI noise from internal components. MW and LW is very sensitive to interference and it's not very good on those bands. At least with internal antenna. Even in user manual it is mentioned that a lot of interference comes also from its display (like DX-286 for example). I tried with active and passive MW antennas. Only then its usable on those bands, but it can't compete with standard MW receivers. I'm not even talking about DX machines.

@@AlexeyDXman I use this radio currently a lot. I really like it as I can add my favorite stations the way I like. Especially Mediumwave stations I can't receive or when it is impossible to receive, for example day time. So with this device they can be reached 24/7.

Last few weeks of so, station from Great Britain coming strong, even ones on low power.

At this time of the year, it's more or less the same. Sometimes better, sometimes worse. But listenable in general, especially evening/nighttime. I've seen some claims that they reduced transmitting power, but it's probably not true.

Not all related to Internet radio, but: * If a group is listening and I have to take a call * The built-in speaker is great! * The battery life is great! * I can take/make phone calls while the radio continues to play * If the phone is lost/stolen/broken/updating I still have music. 🙂 * I can switch to OTA radio - especially for local emergency broadcasts * I can store my whole album collection on a TF card in the radio * Radios are fun! @HardcoreDXLithuania Thanks for taking the time to make and post this helpful video!

No, if the station streams decent quality, like 192 kbs MP3, it sounds good for music. Lower AAC format is also acceptable, as AAC often provides a more transparent sound compared to the same bit rate as MP3. And like I mentioned before, stereo streams sound quite good. For talk stations, even lower bitrates are acceptable. Also, this is a good way to play high-quality music files from a microSD card (high-bitrate MP3, FLAC, WAV, etc.), and they sound really good.

Twin coil has advantage but just a little bit.

To me DX stations is from North Africa, Arabian peninsula (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia..) and Middle East.

@yannisgk That's why I like my added stations by myself, as I can track them, and if there's a dead link, I can replace it with a new one. Each manufacturer can't monitor thousands of stations; that's why some of the links don't work.
