Thanks for the info. I was on holiday in JB a few weeks ago and discovered this ruin by chance while out walking. I found it very evocative, as ruins often are. You can even just walk right in, although it doesn't look very safe. I'm amazed that it was only open for 3 years. The ironic thing is that a short distance around from this forlorn building, towards the town centre, development is going gangbusters.

This building abandoned just 1-2 year after Highland Tower tragedy... so this building has poor land structure so the MPJB had to evacuate this building... they might dont want repeat the highland tower tragedy

When think of nearest something to imagine, it's the lot 1, even if city square nearby to imagine alot of cars then lazy to pause n shop like quick entry n go home, it's to increase difficulty in s.g or not(maybe by fake Malaysians n s.g)? If lot 1, is a bit far to imagine space n ease to shop n go back still strong health? It should open again like easy to say, but quantity of the movement caused it? Definitely exist a mastermind.

i didn't know it was closed until i saw this video. I did worked there for a year in 1993 as a busboy in the newsroom cafe. so these are some if my rusty memories to share....nasi goreng tanjung puteri, cantonese or hokkien mee, ikan kurau, steak well, medium or rare, banana flambe, chicken curry, thousand island salad dressing, tartar sauce, american chocolate cake, cheese cake, mousse cake, croissant, poach egg, sunny side up egg, egg fuyong, prawn platter, variety of sausages salami, pizza by the inhouse Italian chef paolo.. bloody mary, bartenders, winston red cig, mild 7 for Japs engineer, boncafe coffee....some lounge musics keyboard play by uncle pakcik plays mj song.. i'll be there, and then local hits... oo burung katakan lah..., parre filipino band also play there..guantanamera song...and then i remember we learn to fold the artichoke napkins.....skyjuice😂...teh tarik, fruit punch drink...with dry ice decor. oh ya eggfuyong..fried egg with tongchoy. once got pranked by kitchen staff, i was locked in a freezer for a moment and felt like in a north pole breathed out cloud and shaken..was terrified that moment. now 2024 when i thinked back those memories was hilarious, also tiring coz 365 days of full load of customers, diners and visitors. those were the days in 1993.

Sad to see it go in the way it did. Stayed there many times when in the country and found the staff the friendliest and most helpful in JB. Anybody know a similar good hotel in JB worth trying in 2023? Cheers

I've been in this mall once to go marrybrown. But nothing much to see. Almost everything closed. And now danga city mall is abandoned too.

This was a great hotel in a good area but was run down for years to the point few wanted to stay there. At that point prices were dropped to attract local Malays and that was the beginning of the end. because all it attracts is poor people, weddings and company functions. Grand Blue Wave has seen exactly the same deterioration as have many other places.

MAS bas from SG to Senai used to stop at Puteri Pac before going to Senai Airport. Those are the days before budget airlines like AirAsia existed.

An utter disaster! But hey, some people walked away from this with a fortune.

Love your videos - especially on the old derelict buildings in JB! As a Singaporean I always wondered what's up with all these and why are they not removed . . . . they look scary lol. Good to know the story behind them! They make for great landmarks...😄

Excellent video. Hope there will be a follow-up as I dropped by just a day ago and noticed two gondolas suspended from balcony. Not sure if that's a sign of restoration or work-in-progress. A few years ago the whole plot was auctioned off by bank to a property developer for Myr10,000,000 but the 80 apartment owners didn't get a single cent from sale. The new developer had plans to turn units on existing 10-storey block into serviced apartments with rooftop beer garden while constructing a new 20-storey condotel adjacent to it. However plans were delayed as developer was tied up with other ongoing projects. Several months ago, I saw an advertisement for sale of Wangsa Putri Condominium. The asking price of Myr12,500,000 is Myr2.5mil above purchase cost. Meanwhile some apartment owners have sold their units to the developer at Myr40,000 which is 30% of the original purchase price! A similar situation like this in Singapore would see owners reaping a windfall from 'share of enblock sale'. They gain nothing in Malaysia whose laws only benefit developers...

I have been in this jail before 10 years ago...the room of this jail actually only for one person staying because the room is quick small, is because the amount of the prisoners is increasing, they added 3 to 4 person's in one room...No toilet for you...pee and poo using the barrel...the smell is disgusting because you only can throw your pee and poo at the morning...one day one time only...when shower is all together in one big sink and it only have 10 sec for you to finishing your shower...will have one a prisoner counting it 1 to 10 sec...in this jail you need to pray for raining because when is summertime in the room like a sauna...too hot and hard to breathe...this jail use to be dead penalty before...many are die of the dead penalty...honestly, in this jail have something...in the middle of the night, sometimes I always hear something that from around nearby the prisoners room...I see nothing but weird sounds is always have it...this is dead penalty jail and when in the middle of the night you hearing something weird or seeing something just calming down, because is a dead penalty jail

So sad…I’m a Singaporean and we always have hotel sleepovers in Mutiara hotel….the buffet was nvr a letdown…my kids grew up to having lots of experience there.What will happen to the building now
