Videos from a wildlife camera in our garden behind our shed in Barnsley, UK. Also more recently from some infra-red binoculars.
We started recording in October 2022 as we were gifted a hedgehog hut. We had several hedgehogs visiting during 2023 and 2024 started in February. We now have two hedgehog boxes and have had five separate male hedgehogs staying at least one night in the huts in 2024.

Yes, that is a large slug moving slowly on the right. The hedgehog didn't stay long on this video unfortunately.

The bowl at the back had slugs in it unfortunately, the bowl at the front has water in it.

It is the same camera, she just came back out while it was light enough the night vision wasn't needed. 😀
Thank you for putting this up, how can you tell if they are male or female
There are a few ways to tell them apart. The males tend to be generally bigger and with wider faces. The males tend to try and circle around the females but will attack other males. You can also tell if you look underneath the hedgehog around where you'd expect its belly-button to be, around the middle, if it has something there it is a male. These are not traps. They are for feeding the hedgehogs. They are smaller to stop cats getting to the food.

We're not sure what he was doing exactly but he had just eaten either a frog or toad. We did have two cameras and have just gotten a third, but haven't captured anything on it yet. :)

A great size of the feeding station - if the hedgehog will be not able to enter it in late autumn he will be ready for hibernation! 😀

Thanks, we think these are two new hedgehogs, we've not seen them before but they do seem quite early out.
