Diy Composting Toilet! Part 1
Переглядів 5383 роки тому
In this video I build myself a composting head for my boat. when I bought the boat, the head was just an empty room with 2 shelfs and a portable toilet. I found out it use to have a marine head and holding tank. but the holding tank was a bladder. so i think it got a hole in it and a previous owner ripped it out and just bought a portable toilet and those toilets stink!

What about rudder shafts
Well done!
Great job. Thank you 😊
Great video , thanks very much.
great video, hard to do down there! 2 quick tips, First, 5:24 Don't cut the flax right on the mating (shiny part of the shaft) as you could be scoring it with the blade. Second, 6:13 i would have cleaned the shaft, before sliding the stuffing box together, bonus tip, 6:20 you removed 4 rings and installed 3
That prop puller is a blessing. I have a knick.
I have those exact Renogy controllers. Expect that the four connections live to come loose. You solder the ends of the wires for a better grip. They want to charge around 14 volts on four settings. A bit high for my systems. I don't have the gadget to reprogram them. I like my homemade adjustable controller much better, but these are a lot simpler than most of the Amazon controllers. I run very little on the camper sized pure sine wave inverter.
Too bad there are not enough people who want to restore a boat like that. Under the mess, it looked nice. I have a motor and a prop.
The challenge is boat factories buy materials wholesale. We buy them retail. I love these ....How Tos.
If you rivet, you're used to pre drilling. I'll do a whole house like this guy.
Never argue with success.
Can you put an unusually small shaft in a bigger tube....like a 3/4 shaft in a 1 inch or larger tube? Also, are the rubber seal kits expensive?
Great video
Great video but how is there any room to push the nut off of the flange is right there?
Probably because of the split coupling
Super clear!
Thank you, good video... Well done.
Haydon why do you not place the middle packing 90 deg off the other two. Many thanks
Dude, thank you!
Awesome. This is similar to the Ticking Stickla approach used in carpentry. See UA-cam search for "woodworking ticking stick"
I like this. I’m going to do it only 88ski nautique this weekend. Thanks
Super helpful! Thank you
how do you know what thickness to buy? i have a choice of 3mm or 5mm
Wondering why you do a final adjustment once the boat is in the water? Do you go for a run with the motor and tighten according to the drip frequency? Great video and background music! Thanks
i was wondering the same thing.
The stuffing box drips 2-3 drips a minute, so it needs to be in the water to set drip rate. May be more or less on drip rate, but you get the idea.
Very good idea ! I’m intending on replacing all my through hulls .
If you enlarge to two 12 volt batteries, run them on separate chargers and connect them to separate loads. This isolates them so they don't fight each other. Chasing false goals and batteries in parallel are the most common griefs in land or sea solar panel systems. If you need a lighter load, buy a small 12 volt chest freezer and always run it on ECO mode, to prolong appliance life. The big fridge can then hold your charts, binoculars, and cameras.
Thank you. This is the one to watch.
He did not prime the Bulkhead! Before tabling in ? 9:32
Brilliant advice, I am about to do two this winter, and really didn't want to attack with a hole saw or a grinder!
Awesome very helpful well done video
Good video. Do they still sale these boats and if yes, where? Thanks
this is a HOW NOT TO video
Thank you.
Someone apparently didn't know what a "ticking stick" was. There is absolutely NO reason to have so many notches going down each side of the stick.
👎
Pretty smart😮
Hose clamps on the shaft appear to be incorrectly fitted. Each pair of jubilee clips should be fitted in opposing directions. Yours are all fitted in the same direction?
Dose it do the same as a tick stick only the creation of this stick is unnecessarily more work to do
bit of an overkill with the backing plate...🏴☠️⛵
Great video Hayden! Thanks!
That was a scraper blade not a wood cutting blade u literally burnt through the wood to cut it they sell blades with little teeth to cut wood for a multi tool wow I beet u struggled bad
It was a blade burned it up cuting metal and fiberglass probably
Nice video! Put the seems at 120 degrees, you can put the full length packing around to measure the length in one go. Make a shallow incision but don'r cut it on the shaft ;-)
Just watched your first 2 videos. Very informative. Thank you
Dude. That was very educational. So what is the final adjustment. What is this thing supposed to do?
Tighten it to where it allows 6 to 10 drops of water every minute so that it keeps everything lubricated
Great video!
Thanks!
Can you do it to top ridge of boat instead of on its side like the top lip?
Thanks, that was excellent!
Is it an ancient method or is there some complicated concepts I do not understand? You could as well just trace it directly on the cardboard and create the exact shape.
For that to work correctly the stick would have to be at a right angle at every mark. Not easy to do visually.
Lol, there may be a situation when this would be more useful, but in the described situation, and since you already went to all the work to get your cardboard laid out next to your work, a simple straight stick with a single notch and a pencil would trace that curve directly to your cardboard. Lot less work.
not without being at 90 degrees along every path with the pencil and stick; nearly impossible visually.
I've never seen the joggle-stick method before. I've learned something new. Thanks!
Great informative video
This is literally golden! Thank you so much!!
