The primary focuses of my channel are for largemouth bass techniques along with fusing American and European angling approaches. There is a great deal of undiscovered bass knowledge, particularly when focusing on big bass without a boat. I have developed a Midwestern adaptation of Bill Murphy's California stitching technique, and a modified version.
Catching quality fish working "the stitch" made me realize finesse bass fishing is in its' infancy. There's an entire unexplored realm waiting to be discovered when stitching plastics and baits with small split shot sinkers and longer rods. Modified stitching applications appear to have multispecies potential also.

Copolymer Sufix Advance Bass Rigging1

Copolymer Sufix Advance Bass Rigging1
Do some poles come with a guide in the center that goes lose and move around I bought a contender that has it never seen it before
I use three for my Carp fishing in the UK and even France. Use 15lb line. I can’t stand using large big pits they are too big and heavy and the ss2600s are just fun and bullet proof. Can’t go wrong
had a 1300 for 20 years. when a new reel breaks, i use the 1300 as a back up until the new reel comes. The low line pickup and wobble are the reasons i don't use it regularly... because it is cumbersome if you are trying to cover a lot of water. works well for jigging in 10-15 of water inshore if you don't want to use a baitcaster. smooth drag and bulletproof.
I’ve always found guides pretty cool there’s so many different ones and people have so many crazy preferences and I really don’t even know the difference between most of them other than some are single foot and some are double foot but they look cool and they make the fishing rod a fishing rod rather than a super engineered stick
My experiance with sensation is its junk i have tryed 30 knots with it and they all break when i tye knots with the old trilene green line the nots dont break
What size whisker do you think would be best for a 9ft rod?
I got the 1600 size and i f@&#% love it. Its a war machine it last forvever and i only fish in salt water with him and i have no problem its true its a litle old looking reel without the features of the nowadays reels but you dont need it you just need a tough durable gearing and long lasting smooth drag... and thats it many people doesnt know how this reel its so good my fishing buddies laught abou it now they want one but they keep saying its expensive in europe you can get one fro. 180/250€ i bought mine in US for 105 bucks😅😅
Izorline xxx-smoke
Im going to be getting the 2600 version of this and cant wait to use it
I scored a 7’ one piece Berkeley lightning rod with titanium guides for $25 @ Wally World evil inc. in 2013. Still haven’t used it. Time flies
If I remember correctly that's a pretty fast rod, not the lightest but a strong taper in the bend and good backbone. If it has the twist lock turn it lightly at first to secure the reel.
When they showed up with ceramic line roller, fantastic drag and worm drive, all stacked in lightweight "whisker" body, those SS were really amazing for the time. Production which took 3 decades speaks for itself. However, initial pieces made in Japan were made way better and with smaller tolerances than those from Thailand which lacked smoothness here and there. Not all sizes were matched well and 1300 had small main gear and short handle, which led to quite lack of power on retrieve, although spool capacity is quite decent for the size. 1600 and 2600 were the best overall and still can be used.
I have owned many examples of the Japan made, and Thailand made reels….Since the 80s. At least 14 reels or so and I can attest to the fact that there is zero difference in their quality. That is just simply Internet regurgitation. In fact, I know a guy who runs a tackle repair shop and he tends to lean toward the made in Thailand models as being better. I don’t believe that either. They are equally as good as the other, positively. I have never had to do anything but clean and lube infrequently.
There is a great feature of the SS series that @frankracz did not mention, and is not mentioned much in the other comments. These reels cast so well not only due to the long, slightly tapered spool, but to the very consistent 5 degree line lay created by the worm drive spool oscillation. It is very difficult for line to "dig in", which can hamper a cast. More importantly, if you use modern braid, the thin braid does not dig in when fighting a fish. If that happens, the great drag goes out the window, and you may lose a good fish. It is interesting that this "old" (but far ahead of its time) reel works so well with the modern superlines. Sadly, not enough people understood these reels, and Daiwa discontinued them.
Thank you for this pertinent information.
For me I like double footed steel guides because they are just heavy duty and I don’t have to worry about braid cutting through them or the inserts popping
I remember selling rods with those guides in the 90's. I never had anyone specifically ask for those, but having a rod with them makes sense for your methods.
I have one of these 1300 size given to me, I’d never cared much about it. Until recently, I used it as a pan fish reel. A 3.5 pounder small mouth took the tiny lure. I tell you, it was the greatest bass fight I’ve ever felt. I was using 4 lb. Fluorocarbon line. The drag was unbelievable, now I’m a true believer. Mine is made in Thailand though, I would love to get a made in Japan one.
Don’t believe the “Japan made” is better garbage. It is a fallacy. They are both made to the same tolerances. I own many examples of each since the 80’s and can tell you with complete confidence that they are equally as good as the other. Positively facts. Happy fishing.
Been thinking about trying a different line, I don't have a lot of vegetation so braid is not what I'm looking at, how is the detection of light bites in copolymer compared to monofilament?
A flippin' switch is great for jigging in the saltwater, especially vertical jigging.
Being that I don't live in a saltwater area no one has ever told me this. Thanks for the comment.
is this reel still available ?
Abu Garcia makes several models, the Quantum Accurist is very popular with people who use it for flounder jigging. The Kastking MegaJaws is another. Lots of major brands of baitcasters have some with switches. I'm thinking about getting one of the cheap Abu Garcias for around $65.
This model is no longer manufactured.
I bought the whole series (700 to 2600} back in the late 80's because of the ceramic bail roller and drag. I have used them constantly in fresh and salt water.ever since. I lived in Florida for 20 years using them on snook, tarpon, kingfish and barracuda. They never failed. I never maintained them other them rinsing them thoroughly after each salt water trip.I now moved west and still use the 700, 1300, and 1600 on trout and bass. The new spinning reels are definitely lighter but I like the Whiskers heavier weight because they balance better on many of my rods.
Thanks! 🎣
Thanks for the share... my search started after watching an old mitchell 300 spinning film and it was a glass rod. Been searching for other videos and luckyto find yours.
How would your go head to head with this reel against say a pfluger presidential
Just upgraded all my rods to Fenwick 🎣🐟s 1-Fenwick eagle med light 6ft paired with. Pflueger president reel 2- Fenwick hmg med light 6.6 ft paired Pfueger president xt reel 3 - Fenwick eagle bait caster med heavy light action 7 ft one piece again with a pflueger president xt low profile rod such great rods can’t complain
For many anglers Fenwick's are their first bump up to a better performance rod. You'll be on your way to more fish with them.
How is the 7ft medium heavy holding up? Is it a good all around casting rod? Looking to buy one.
@@tylercrank7729 it’s been grant so far
Bull shit commercial. I look at your video to see how to use the hook properly. I know where to buy it.
Any opining on on Sufix advance
Thank you for this, very informative and educational
You're welcome
The Gary Yamamoto Senkos are the best Senkos ever when you don't fish them too fast and when you don't overcast your Senkos too far instead of Shallow end , the only thing the best famous Gary Yamamoto Senkos tear up when you fishing them too fast, fish them with Caution.
As an avid angler back in the 1980s, I remember seeing in the 1987 bass pro catalog the “New Daiwa SS Tournament reels” and instantly liked the look and the long spool for increased casting distance. I immediately bought the 1300 and I still use it several times a week (retired now) and all I’ve ever done to it is oil it every few years, it just doesn’t break. I have bought many more SS reels in all the sizes and gave a 1300 to each of my three sons and they’re still using them today. I think they still look good but more importantly they just don’t break The drag is better than any other reel I’ve tried and although I’ve tried many other reels since 1987, I still go back to my SS tournament reels because they just keep working and, oh, that drag, it’s so smooth, I just don’t lose big fish (35 pound flathead on 8 pound line!). My 1987 SS 1300 has been used so long the finger knob is worn completely smooth, it doesn’t have any of the leather grain type anti-slip molded into the knob left because I’ve reeled it for 36 freakin years! Even before I retired, I fished several times a week year round (walleyes and trout in the winter) so these reels aren’t babied. I guess it’s why the reel is still made today, they are still people buying them because they are such great reels, as this video shows. BTW, I broken so many infinite anti reverses and ten bearing reels (freaking cheap bearings, I don’t care if there’s 10 bearings if they don’t last) that I’ve really come to appreciate the quality of the SS Tournament reels.
Mack, I appreciate your reply. It was good to hear. Unfortunately this reel is no longer in production, sadly.
Welcome to te “trend “. I’ve been running yo-Zuri hybrid for 20 years now on everything that isn’t braid, which for me is only the frog rod and the punch rod.
great video
Sufix ProMix is not a copolymer line, nor was Cabela's Pro line. Sufix Advance and Tritanium Plus are Sufix only copolymer monofilament lines.
I got mepps for the reservoir. very pressured fishery with giant small mouth and large
I have a 700SS that I bought for ultralight spinning here in England. It now gets used mainly for drop shotting and working split shot rigs. Casts a country mile and has a flawless drag. Has helped me land numerous accidental captures of pike in the 30inch plus class. Much better than a comparable 1000 size Shimano, of which I have a couple of Stradic models.
You’d be a great salesman if you aren’t already lol
I was on Mister Twister website and saw these hooks and didn't know how to use them. Thank you for this video.
Hey man great video have you heard of webo guides and if they are any good ?
Thanks. No I've never heard of those guides.
Does the amount of guides effect casting??
Gavin, generally more guides equates to further and more accurate casting.
SOU GA LIBIYANG
They cast so much better than conventional spinner a its too
Is copolymer ok for bait n wait?? Does it sink?
Copolymer is fine for still fishing. No, it does not sink. Fluorocarbon line sinks yet offers less abrasion resistance than copolymer. Hope that helps.
What ever happened to Silver Thread, wasn't that a copolymer line?
That's such a great question. I guess it's no longer made but was a top recommending pick by a great bass angler to me years ago. Yes, it was copolymer.
Just subscribed after watching your fenwick rod review.
Nick thanks I subbed ya back.
Good info 👍 frank I might try one of these rods for perch fishing 🎣 in the fall in the Calumet river
Ya the Featherlight's truly are a blast. Miss not seein ya around!
I live near there and still haven’t fished it lol but I will now . I fish wolf lake a lot just subscribed 🤙🏽.
219Fishing thanks! They stock this place w/ bass. I have a Wolf Lake video where I'm fishing on the other side of where you're at. What a nice first fish you got! Fighting the wind at Wolf Lake's never easy.
@@frankracz6736 Thanks .

Glad you enjoyed it
very informative thanks
Big like from me my. Friend. Wonderful video.
Miss you brother and especially miss trading info and knowledge with ya! Trying to work my way into the market with my jigs and have been experimenting with some new styles I’ve been tying and hearing from you gives me the inspiration to keep going. Love seeing you post, I need to catch up!
Hey Derek thanks for watching and keep working those jigs. Unlike popular belief working up in the fishing industry takes years. Have you ever posted your offerings on the NWI fishing Facebook page? You could probably get a lot of hits there.
Hey Frank great info 👍 got my biggest bass this year on a green pumpkin wacky rigged senko hopefully the weather gets better for bass fishing 🎣 🐟👍
Tom great to hear from you! Thanks for watching.
Likin the Berkeley fluroshield. It’s a copolymer coated with fluorocarbon
Thomas Drelich, I was unaware of this line. Berkley pioneered some truly great lines throughout the decades and I believe when I hear positive feedback regarding their lines. Take care.
It’s relatively new evolution of copolymer line . Just released last year. I tried the vanish fluorocarbon and didn’t like it. You can buy a 3000 yard spool of the fluroshield for 55 direct from Berkeley . I use 6lb for trout fishing
@@THOMASDRELICH thanks for the feedback on the fluroshield. I know Vanish was the first fluorocarbon line I saw. They may not have changed the formula much.
I bought 2 of the Whisker 1300s in the early 90s. They were made in Japan then. I'm still using those two reels to this day for smallmouth fishing in northern Michigan. I've had several other spinning reels since I bought these, but always go back. They are the best spinning reels ever made.
Dale Porter, yes smallmouth put up a challenge, and this drag is top for them.
Agreed. These reals are tank tough and have staying power for a reason…they last and last.
