Amazing video great job!
Thanks mate! Hope you enjoy my other berserk essays too
The dub voice acting is so bad I find it so hard to take this show seriously when I people choose clips from the dub
People have such strong opinions I this haha. We're you able to enjoy the essay still?
Can u pls post a new video or sum
I'm cooking up something that I'm really excited for you all to see. Sit tight for a bit longer and I'll release it asap🤜🏼🤛🏼
This video is awesome - really good insight and well put together
Thankyou! I'm glad you enjoyed, let me know what you think of my other berserk essay too if you're interested 🙂
@@grimalgram I'll give it a watch later!
Thanks for covering this, it’s good to see honest enjoyment out of Beserk when compared to everything else I’ve seen. Truly, thank you
I'm glad my appreciation for the anime and story came through. Let me know what you think of my other berserk anime and keep your eyes open for a new one dropping asap 🙂
Eclipse video plz
It's in the works! Stay tuned🔥
Wow thanks
Welcome 😊
This might be a little bit esoteric and cringey to say in a YT comment, but I as someone who’s had a fascination with religion and pre-history, Guts’ response to life seems to be almost Hermetic in the way that it steels you for the pursuit of purpose in a purposeless world… Griffith, on the other hand, looks at the purposelessness of the world and adopts the Gnostic response: if purpose doesn’t matter in the end, then everything is meaningless; as long as I can convince myself the world is meaningless, then it doesn’t really matter what I do, so long as I get what I want. Thought I was reading a Jungian picture-book when I first started reading Berserk, and this video is a great essay/reference that affirms that. Profound reading of what the anime conveys!
People talk about character arcs. There's Early Golden Age Griffith, Political Griffith, Griffith after losing to Guts, Post-Torture Griffith, Insane Griffith, and Femto Griffith.
Yes so true, Griffiths arc is fascinating to watch. Hope you enjoyed the essay 🤜🏼🤛🏼
“The price of your dream are the things you can sacrifice and the ones you can’t sacrifice.”
Thumbnail is wack broke boy
Griffith was awesome. He died in the dungeon. They got femto out of that dungeon imo
I agree that Griffith changed after the dungeon. But there were signs leading to his demise. Like what he does to Charlotte and so on. I think when he was younger he was more peak, but as he got more power he became entitled. What do you think?
@@grimalgram always felt that Griffith was willing to get dirty himself. He used others but would be willing to put himself in harms way. Once he couldnt do that for his goals, he was essentially dead. The god hand gave him a choice of kill the people you used to know or.... walk and talk again
Lack of power and lack of will to power is what corrupts. Not chasing power itself. Griffith was corrupted by weakness and lack of power against Guts.
Grifiths dreams are like a two sharped sword: In the on hand you don’t want to hurt your family and friends and want that they joined your dream. But on the other hand 😅 … i want to have the power rule the world and become a god. And not gonna lie the most of us would do the same like Griffith (don’t think i mean casca)
Many say Berserk has never had a satisfactory adaptation, but I think the 1997 anime is almost as good as the manga
Thays a controversial take to some. But I definately agree that 1997 was stunning. Hope you enjoy my video essays on it 🤜🏼🤛🏼
@grimalgram yeah, your videos are great👍 I guess I'm a little biased in thinking berserk 1997 is great because I watched it before I read the manga. I also like 90s anime art style in general
@@aydincakiroglu752 thanks! I'm the same, love the art style and just enjoyed the whole series. I'll try and cover other anime eventually. Any 90s series or movies your would like to see?
U acting like he was going to kill all his friends and get his dream this is just funny that's what his sissy ass gets😂
Griffith did nothing wrong ❤
I could name a few things. What did he do right in your opinion?
wc3 campaign was my childhood. appreciate this video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Did you have a favourite chapter or character back in the day?
The older I get the more I admire Guts for walking away from a well paying job in favor of his own personal betterment.
that is such a great/mature way to look at it. And so true, Guts knew deep down that he wanted something else, and he was brave enough to chase it. He gave himself a chance to be happier
you are wondeful storyteller! i just finished the show for the first time this last week and your perspective adds so much clarity to a deep story
Thank you! I really appreciate that compliment and feedback. Glad the video came across concise. Feel free to check out my other berserk essays and let know if they help clear things up too
If you aren’t willing to do anything for your dream then you didn’t want your dream as much as you thought you did
I think there is always a limit where you have to ask yourself 'is the dream worth the sacrifice'. Once again if it cuts positive people out your life I don't think in the long run it's worth it. What do you think?
Phenomenal video, thank you for this!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. Feel free to check out my other berserk essays and let me know what you think
12:20, just thought now that, guts from the present chapters of berserk is exactly wat he describes as an friend, "a true friend never relies on other's dream, the one who would be my friend must have his own reason for living" "guts dream is caska now, not griffth's, " beyond me and he should put his hearth and soul into protecting his dream, he should never hesitate to defend it, even against me" guts prioritizes casca's safety above all, mainly against griffith.
It's so interesting to think the effect Griffith would have had on guts as a role model. A fantastic observation mate! Hope you enjoyed the essay 🏆
What do you tend to do with duplicate subjects?
I started with Rahim and was assassinated on day 2, now his son is ruler and I'm trying to keep my subjects happy 😂😂😂
Haha, how intense! Let's see how the so does 😅
@@tacticalbayr8363 I started with him and his own wife assassinated him
It's worth it to have just absoulte chaos and racism in the begging for a whole bunch of loot each assassination until u have a proper leader 😂
Haha that's one way to do it. Have you already attempted this?
@grimalgram yes, until the entire Royal family got assassinated (kicked out the baby 0 year old king) I made ulfric Stormcloak my king and now am trying to please everybody, I would suggest kicking out all non human races would lower assassination attempts on unfair taxes
@@rispy4875 hahaha your kingdom sounds very selective 😅
was really hoping for a King feel but instead we get democracy with Wii's Miis?
Just wondering if its a gd idea to get adoring fan what does it really do? Does it auto gather stuff offline? Does reorganise my workers? Wat does it exactly do ? I have a bunch of legendaries but still can't afford to buy the legendary buildings
@@1993nightrider how did u get so many legendaries villager ? Adoring fan doesn’t really do much honestly just really diverse I’m when it comes to different workstations like the oil press n kitchen
@@KhaleedStraw-h5s i mate a lot and i throw out any 1 type and legendaries mate together epics too just make sure they don't have similar personalities currently trying to mate expert in fire and frost with a melee and shield bro for a legendary sword warrior
@@1993nightrider nice bro I’m over here just thinking about possibly buying the starter pack so I can get a head start on matting legendary villagers because the one u get for free in the mail I made my king n sadly they killed him 😂
@@KhaleedStraw-h5s 😂😂😂 ul get more as time goes by don't worry and not all legendaries are worth i got 2 trash ones btw im f2p id go for premium structures or legendary chests if i was going to spend though im not going to 😂
He is such a complex and amazing character
Agreed, he's a fantastic point for a character analysis 🤓
Where did you get that Griffith was growing up in poverty? He looked well-fed, had long and had clean clothes. How is that poverty?
Great question. I don't believe the anime says it but it is mentioned in the manga when Griffith is speaking to Charlotte. Most bios of Griffith often add that he came from a poor background too. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong 🙂
I have a question. Does anyone know how to avoid some subject with the trait "betrayal" to kill the king?? Besides keeping them happy with the rullings and all that. I have tobin as my king and already lost my first king, i would fall into depression if tobin gets killed 😂😢
When i play the game is a lot buggy
Hey bro, another good one, nice job! You have a knack for presentation. though there's more to cover in this series alone, have you thought about any other ones that might be interesting to you?
Hey thanks so much for your comment. I have been thinking about more essays on berserk and am writing one up atm. Do you have any ideas you would like to see explored?
@@grimalgram No problem man. As for the berserk anime there's a few themes I'd be interested in: Friendship (main example being Guts & Griffith) and perserverance (Guts' hard upbringing and the resolve he gains from it) It's been some time since I've seen the show, but I reckon these two things can be talked about even based on the anime material.
Noted my friend. These are fantastic essay, points 🏆
There is a quote I used for my book called, "The ideal of greatness, attracts ultimate evil." This quote was inspired by berserk because with Griffith's character, his dream, which in my book corresponds to an ideal. His dream is something to strive for that is grand, righteous and perfect, but since his dream is a positive source of inspiration for many, the dream attracts ultimate evil because the law of nature or positive and negative forces always attract to each other like a moth to a flame. This goes to the lost chapter of berserk called the ideal of evil which was taken out because it revealed to much of the story, I wanted to expand on that chapter in my own words in my own book on how the collective managed over many years to manifest a collective conscience of a being that was considered a god, but in my version it's in the heart of the planet where evil resides, in my story the planet feeds off the people both physical and metaphysical resulting in this manifestation of a being with otherworldly powers in a separate dimension which overlooks the planet. Imagine someone who will do at nothing to achieve a dream that is righteous no matter who is in their way to achieve it, they will do evil in order to attain their dream no matter the cost. My series is called Devil Drive and my book is called Devil Drive, the burning ace, a phoenix's uprising, its inspired by berserk and shin megami tensei persona. I really do appreciate your work you put into this video, it's a great inspiration seeing your commentary, like to see other videos you create in the future, thank you I really appreciate it.
De lo único que de verdad me quejaría sería del sistema de tiempo, si el tiempo avanzará más rápido entonces tendrías que ser más estratégico y asegurarte de tener buenos personajes, como el juego Knights of age
Fair enough. How fast are you talking though? Like I day per few minutes? Would mean you would churn through characters much quicker
Yeah I get that, let's hope bathesda is watching this comment section 😅
I never play tower or check in type of games. But for some reason this reminds me of the sims x fable. A little addicting compared to the normal gachas and idles I play, not bad at all imo great vid!
Mate, don't even get me started on fable. I suppose it does have a nice charm mixed with some adult humour. Definately a good recipe for addictive gameplay. How great would it be to have a fable rpg with a castle sims building segment like this?
Tbh...considering the fact tht youre only a lvl 27 after 100 days irl tells me you didnt actually play the game. You probably logged in once every day to make this video. Straight laziness.
Hahaha, the hundred days is representing the amount of days in the game. Not in real life 🙂 Did you enjoy the video at least?
Peaceful
almost like the quiet before the storm. Have you watched the anime?
@@grimalgramhaven't watched it but I've read the manga
Nice, I've only read a portion of the manga but am keen to slowly read the lot. Hope this video influences you to watch it, the anime is quite stunning too 🙂
@@grimalgram i highly encourage you to continue reading it as it's artwork really blooms by the end of it
Yeah I'm looking forward to it. The more I learn about it the more I know it's a series I will be very much immersed in
a waterfountain where you fucked off
Everything
Is this in response to 'what is the price of your dream'?
Ngl this game is mad addictive got my bestie hooked too😂
Haha, are you kingdoms very different? Would be interesting to compare
For a series where people speaks its praises Griffith is the one blindspot. He's a fascinating character too bad it's defined in the fandom as just an unfeeling psychopath with no guilt. Which the anime doesn't help with it making him seem more sinister especially during the eclipse. There are 2 similar but very different Griffiths floating out there. If I was Miura I'd be fuming. He's much more compelling as a character study anyway than a depiction of good or evil especially with the competition for evil going on in that universe. Then you get into the idea of casulity and how much culpability he has. The behelit gets thrown in a drain and ends up right where he's about to off himself after falling from a wagon he got on because he was delirious. The supernatural is very at play. That's what makes Guts so compelling he's fighting against the forces of the universe though even now we don't know if Guts isn't still following his role. Where does the failings of the man named Griffith begin and the fate of Femtos end. Lot of fun stuff to ask if you view Griffith as more complex than a psychopath from birth.
Fantastic thought process. I think the more we humanise villains the harder they are to hate and more it hurts when they make bad choices. I did feel the 1997 anime had a great attempt at this. How did you find the essay, did I remain unbiased enough to truly get Griffith?
