Building Emma

Slideshow of the construction history of Emma. Emma was built by my father Tom Pollmann. The ship is a replica of a Norwegian rescue vessel designed by Colin Archer. The original plan was to use her to sail the world with Vera Oremus, my mother. Unfortunately, Vera died in 2002. Despite this Emma sailed in October 2013 for the first time. This was not possible without the help of lots of "Frien...

Now, that is a real beauty !
This vessel is for sale I believe?
Dancing Queen! Wow! A blast from the past. I was a highschool freshman when that song came out. So many beautiful women back then.
Majestic......
I watched in amazement your video on the construction of this beautiful vessel, I would never have known the amount of knowledge and craftsmanship possessed by shipwrights....amazing world class craftsmanship...I would love to know what a reasonable estimate would be to offer for this vessel, it is completely out of my element..thank you for sharing your journey to a dream becoming reality...love from a Canadian fan!
That poor dinghy is about to drown.........
I wonder seeing the downwind shrouds so slack. It is normal on Colin Archer boats? Just wondering and I would appreciate an answer. Emma is a work of art, a dream, a masterpiece of human ingenuity.
Perfectly normal and not just on Colin Archer's boats or confined to gaff rigged boats. "Modern" wire i.e. stainless steel 1x19 does not have the same elasticity so slack lee shrouds are not as apparent on more modern styles of boats.
I wish he would have had more money to finnish the interior properly.
would be nice to just hear the sea and people chatting
what would be a reasonable offer on this boat be I'm only 17 so I wouldn't be a buyer just curious

What a project. Wonderful!
Puerto montt chile.
A stunning boat, perfectly made, with beautiful materials. What a project! It must have been such a thrill to raise the sails for the first time and feel her come alive after so many years of work. Gives me hope and inspiration for my own project www.justflamingo.com not in the same league but probably a similar time frame :)

What a hummdinger of a boat ! Congratulations to all involved in the construction of Emma. Wonderful...
There is so few people that could make a task of this size happen. Many would start so few could finish. Amazing!
Respect to your father...loved the fact that he stuck to the original as possible. Work of art and love...
This is art beautiful
That is quite simply art!
I can't even begin to understand that level of dedication and skill.
She looks well built, bet that things still going in a hundred years
I have one just like it and its still going after 120 years of going in the North Atlantic and the Arctic, and other adventures. I am proud to be a steward of Mr. Archer's legacy
I wish I could like more times. Amazing work. A piece of art.
