“ I realised that I was tail of a dragon. So there is a saying in Korea, would you rather be a tail of a dragon or you want to be head of a snake? Of course the dragon is way bigger, but you’re tail of a huge organisation. Snake is very small but you get to lead the way you want to go.” - Davis Yongwon Lee .

Kudos for interviewing Chris. He's a person I'd really want to meet despite I work in a different area and sector. I must have owned more or less five cars designed by him and I see a lot from myself in them designwise and certainly a lot of Chris's character and inspiration in them. Wishing him all the best 🎉
Truly awesome, and authentic down to the rust and dust on various components!
Wow Its been 5 years since this workshop! It was cool and quite an eye opening expereince! Btw I am the guy in blue with big glasses.
Please make better desgins
So you are the guy behind those ugly designs. Man you suck
Very appreciate that you made this podcast. I'm also a student who study industrial design, and want to be a designer of modifications of cars and motorcycles. The podcast really let me know a lot about adro, Davis Lee, and things of car design. It is really awesome.
Thank you 🙏
Nicely explained sir
Glad i found this channel. Really love your work guys. ❤❤
Thank you
You hit the point. Can you share some examples how you come from the understanding of the needs to new ideas and concepts?
We will surely make a video for it soon. Keep in touch till then
Absolutely loved this video, as an 18 year old aspiring automotive designer it gave a LOT of helpful insights! great questions and great answers, and very detailed too, Huge thanks!!
Thank you 🙏
Amazing interview, not so amazing interviewer.
Will improve with the next
thanks for taking the time for this podcast. Had a lot of fun!
Thank you 🙏 for being a part of the session ❤️
I appreciate what you guys are doing. Your are networking and helping other. It's really interesting to hear the inside perspective for someone interested in design. A tip, Please don't use the word ”duck up” when you are taking to such experienced people. It doesn't give a very professional feel.
Glad you like our initiative and it’s helping people in some way
Hell yea, was super hyped as for this one!
It is truly the best one
Very good info
It was a pleasure to hear rishav's interview
Please call Maitrya dhanak to your interview . I absolutely love how his work
please make a conversation & interview video with IAN CALLUM
Sure we will consider
Thanks for this episode! It would be great if you had a casual chat in the first 2-5 minutes before jumping to questions, he looked very friendly
The annexation of the whole concept behind the Nios moreover in Irish terminology “ more “ in what thats wat he has illustrated 🖤🌍
That’s wat I was looking for the word “ performance “ mean machine thank you pal for reengineering and the man standing from the process 1 till it ends until it rolls its rubber and burns the fuel ⛽️ 🖤
Respect Mr. Loasby 🖤🖤🖤
Excellent ❤
Her English is shit
Please let us know, is there any course for CMF Design
It's a women centric field not for men. Very girlish field.
@@michaelschwartz3208 that's such a backward thing to say...
That carra segment is my favorite take away. I love etymology of words and to expand on what Chris was saying in terms of English, a "car" comes from "carriage" or to carry and more importantly to.. care. That is the passion people seek, which is simply to care about something, to love something. You don't care about the car, you care about those in the car or the purpose for having a car. There is also a part where he talked about looking down vs looking up, which was really profound as well. I have to say if I had Chris's ear, bud that's where you missed the mark on the 7 series. That was the great sore point in his career. It was him looking down technically on the delivery of the Z9 into a 4 door saloon version. However it should be noted, the high point was the follow up with the 6 series. That was the fully realized Z9 concept. It was actually better more refined, then the concept. I think he was lost in the technics looking down ultimately delivering a sad face with the 7 series. There was some confidence he didn't have yet, perhaps as a managing roll that he described in the beginning of the interview. Later he got in his stride though, looked up at the Z9 concept that he and his team originally delivered on the walls of Designworks and finally executed in full that vision with the E63. I would say that was a real under estimated comeback of his career that deserves to be highlighted. He has a good and powerful story to tell from that about looking down vs looking up.
AUTOMOBILE IS A STORAGE SPACE FOR AN OBJECT THAT WOULD LIKE TO GO FROM A TO B :)
Worst bike design … Revolt
big fan sir.
Great interview. That makes me think that Designer is not the most accurate name for this profession, because the gap between tracing a line and creating a line is what will transform a drawing into an iconic object.
Much needed podcast.
Boa noite congrats carros vai amén bom trabalho
Nice to hear from Chris his philosophy and point of view. Thanks for this interview
Thanks, that was amazing. Chris Bangle has been one of my top 3 mentors for always, hope I can see you in person one day
promo sm 💯
Very insightful thanks @niwwrd
Fantastic, super inspiring!
Even as a Merc fan i want to thank you for a gr8 M5 design man ♥️
E60 and E61 still look modern on the road today.
Simon in Commerce we have understood the significance and its importance of brand value and branding but since I am part of this organisation will comemorate and will go by its duty and costing and its shares 💙💙💙welcome Hyundai to the world of EV technology
can we see some of your current drawings?
Fucking idea cheap designer
The daddy of car designers
Loved Chris's insights. I have a BMW from his time there, so definitely a fan. And, yes regarding Art Nouveau, etc. Such a cohesive time in global style, so all-encompassing! I feel some of his statements may have gone over the interviewer's head?
Excellent video When will you upload your next video?
❤
❤️
Great Stuff! really good examples. I agree to his philosophy. I experienced the same back in Hero and before being the Chief Designer for Revolt. These thoughts sum up to my decisions and reason why I have started with a new journey now. Just changing my point of view. I can totally relate to all what he is saying.Totally agree with his thought about the young designers as well. Only experience can put these things into words. Thanks Chris, Manav and Harshwardhan for this one. keep up the good work!
Indeed. 🙏 thank you for appreciating
Miss ya Chris!! Ciao Erik
❤️
