hey! my name is saurav ghosal, and i'm an incoming third year at #georgiatech. i thought i would make a comprehensive/in-depth breakdown of how #scheduling for classes in college works for those of you who are incoming first-years confused and scared about how this all works (don't worry, i was in the same boat going into my first year at georgia tech). honestly, scheduling is super stressful, but i want to reassure you that it WILL work out. please don't fret too much because for the past 2 years in college (crap, that's crazy to think that i'm already done with 2 year what) i haven't had a single semester where i've been unhappy with my schedule. also for those of you who don't go to tech, i've tried to generalize the process that i outline in this video so that it is applicable to students attending different universities. since this video is CHUNKY, i've decided to provide you timestamps of the important sections of the video below.

How tough is it to get admission in your University?
Do you have to have prior cs knowledge for cs2050. In other words do you recommend it taking it first semester
Awesome, awesome video!!! My FASET session is tomorrow for CS, and I’m stressing over registration, I have several schedules planned out, but am not satisfied with any. 😐 However, hearing that you had success in phase II, makes me feel so much better. 😀 I’m so excited for Tech, but I have to commute about 45 min to an hour so I’m worried I won’t be able to participate in a lot of the things that I want to due to time.
thank you for watching! ooo hopefully scheduling went alright for ya! don't stress too too much in in phase I bc things will really work out in phase II. to be completely honest, i'm not sure exactly how things are going to happen with covid though. i just hope that Tech gives us enough advance notice about classes, etc. also, i know a few people who commute to Tech in some clubs that i'm in, and i don't think it will greatly hinder the opportunities for you on campus!

Hey, I am an incoming CS freshman. I am planning on taking CS 1331 but not sure which professor is the best. I have two options of Prof Susan and Richard. Many people who have taken the course have said that Prof Susan is very hard. So I was wondering if you had any idea about how Prof Richard is?
hey!! i actually took cs 1331 with professor Susan a while back, and i personally didn't find the class to be too difficult; however, the teaching wasn't the best. i, unfortunately, have not heard anything about professor Richard, but i'd recommend asking around other people you know go to Tech to get their opinions on him, looking him up on coursecritique and RMP!

yeah based on your credentials, it sounds like you have a good shot! i'm not sure how the process is for international students - i've heard its tougher than if you're applying from within the u.s., but regardless, if you've done well in school and demonstrated excellence in olympiads, I think you'll have a decent shot. just make sure you spend a lot of time crafting a cohesive application (but keep in mind again, i'm no admissions officer!)
