Lol Amy does her own background vocals, they kind of have to run tracks. She can't sing the backing track and the main vocals at the same time.
To be honest, I don't think they even need them nowadays. They play so much of the music live and the audience does the rest. I don't even think the vocal harmonies are that necessary live. It would give it a rawer sound if they left them out..

***** ***** Idk. In some ways I agree with you but I've kind of always felt that, that eery sound they form with the harmonies is part of what makes Evanescence so awesome and unique.
jwhitloctombraider This is true, and I guess they would sound even further from the studio recordings if they did this, but I don't know what it is. I guess it's just things like their live performances of Disappear, Lose Control and Weight Of The World, where they just go off on a tangent and do their own thing live which makes them such an interesting live band. I kind of feel like if I wanted to hear them play like they do on the album, I'd just listen to the album itself. I feel like the backing tracks can sometimes tie them down too much, so they feel like they have to play the song to the book. Of course this doesn't mean they can't experiment with/change the backing tracks to mix things up, but it does kind of stop that jazz style mid-performance "fuck it, let's play that solo for another bar because we feel like doing that right here and now", so it does mean that you get fewer unique, once in a lifetime live moments.
WOW!!! GO AMY!! xD I love Will Hunt on the drums, I just come from a performance of 2003 and the sound is much more inmersive, it's BIGGER! it's fantastic! (specially the drums) the guitars also improved! :) I like!

Agreed. You only have to watch the performances nowadays compared to then to see how much she's improved as a vocalist... in fact, the whole band has improved massively IMO. Also, DEM DRUMS

Amy's appearance and voice is really for gothic rock. This wasn't her best performance but it's very nice to see after the band's silence. And god! That drummer is one hell of a drum hitting monster!
