It was built in 1837 and lasted up until the 1950s when the land was acquired by Temple University. and 28,000 bodies were removed to rebuild a portion of the schools grounds. @@apachestravels I love the beef sticks, stuff chicken wings and sugar cane drink because of its flavors, the savory and smoky taste of the beef sticks, the refreshing sweetnrss of the sugar cane drink.

My wife daughter and I went to this event last weekend. The food was great. I wish there was more filipino food here but it was great to see all ethnic groups here enjoying a grest event. My favorite food was fried bananas at the one tent. They were 2 for $1. Great price great tasting. Great day.
Glad you guys enjoyed it! Hopefully next time around there will be some more filipino vendors to add to the ever-growing market, & yes that whole stand was 2 for $1 based very fair pricing !

Its so silly these towns let these building go and def coild of sold em to business at least for something. Waste
there was supposed plans of building a industrial complex of some sorts here but it never came to fruition. and in 2018 a study recommended demolition of the site for a commercial corridor.
I would clean up that basketball court inside and have some games there with my friends😂
😂 a good portion of the court would still work to play ball its only got some rot in the areas near the door. so there is a potential there 🏀
Basically from the outside when y'all were walking around that thing Man that place looks more like a prison than a school that is psycho they used a lot of concrete on that place
yes indeed it definitely sticks out compared to a typical school design. it has more of a prison look like you said. the architect built this building in a brutalist architecture style. a lot of high ceilings in the hall and vast spaces just rotting away. and its only been closed less than 15 years.

Tacony is definitely a historic neighborhood home to Disston saw works and more of Philadelphias Industrial history.
