No! You're not the only one- I'm glad to see someone else say it. It wouldn't be the first time something Atsushi related is given a bare amount of focus (it also is pretty early on tbf). The agency is fine now but in the beginning?? Not really. They (mostly) didn't even want to help him when the PM had him and had to be pushed into doing it. Its mainly Kunikida that we get to see like that since he had more screen time. Kunikida was so mean at first TwT
!!!! Exactly!! Kunikida is a major ass in the beginning, even if he gets exponentially better. And Ranpo. Well, Ranpo is Ranpo. Atsushi did get accepted after a while and then cared for (as he should be), but I'm legit fascinated by how the others acted towards him before that!!
@@a_loser Thank youuu. Yeah Ranpo acting like that isn't anything new. But I could never quite get past how Kunikida acted. "Let's get back to work. We aren't do-gooders passing out alms to every street urchin we see" (Yen Press), like huh??? Why is Dazai of all people the one showing more concern? I mean ik what Oda told him but still. And then the agency goes and says Kunikida is the best of them (though the options aren't all that great anyway for future president). I also found it interesting how in the beginning, Kunikida would hit _right_ at Atsushi's insecurities. Poor Atsushi, it really wasn't what he needed at the time (or any time).
What makes it more interesting is- like we've already established- no one seems to talk about this? People really let Kunikida say that with no comment unless I've missed something. All I've seen is the occasional complaint of how he treats Dazai which is a whole other matter. I'm surprised his many ideals allow for some of his behaviors. And on your comment of fascination, I'm personally fascinated on the scraps of information we get on Atsushi's ability and his connection to Fyodor. Shibusawa was like, our main source of info.
@@user-eg7ec4gt1k i don't have the necessary brain capacity to psychoanalyze anyone, but i think kunikida is meant to be rough around the edges, even if the very valid point you raised about his ideals makes it confusing to understand what's going on with him. i only read the manga recently, which is why i made this video nitpicking how asshole-ish some of the ada are at the beginning. tbh it would actually be so much more useful to know more about kunikida (backstory and ideals) to get why he acts like this to a silly little miserable newcomer.
