    I've got a problem while doing the luandary with DELTA 2, everything is working fine until the washing machine reach the pumping stage, it stuck there... do you have any ideas?!

    • @MattWells0
      @MattWells0 21 день тому

      While I couldn't say for sure but the Delta 2 has 1800W inverter, while it is pumping water it may also turn on the heating element to heat the water up which will likely push it above the 1800W. If this is the case you could try using the X-Boost feature which will allow the inverter to generate up to 2400W at the expense of the stability in voltage. You're washing mashine may be okay getting slightly lower votlage but more amps for a short period of time which may allow it to continue working. While I don't think it would damage your washing machine there is a small risk with this option. An alternative would be to run your washing machine with a cold wash so the heating element isn't turned on.

    • @yaserazrak

      @@MattWells0 thank you for your reply.. it"s occur while pumping the water out.. this happened just when connected to the battery not the grid power 😕

    • @MattWells0
      @MattWells0 21 день тому

      @@yaserazrak clearly the washing machine is doing something the Delta 2 does not like. My limited knowledge of a washing machine while in the pumping out stage is that a pump turns on long enough to start a siphon and it is the siphon that actally removes most of the water from the machine. I don't know if it is true of all washing machines though. The only thing I can think of, and I am really clutching at straws beyond my knowledge, is if the siphon is continuing to move water through the pump which is back feeding electricy to the power source. A grid wouldn't notice power being back fed but an inverter definetly would have an issue with this. If this were to be the case, having a small load turned on around this phase of might be enough to cancel out the backfeeding of power. I was thinking about a lamp but they tend to only draw 10W, you might need something more like 50W (an older incandecent lamp or maybe fan). I will say that I am really just guessing at this point but it might be easy enough to test.

      You are most welcome, I'm glad to have helped. You can add the "[Device Name] Solar In Power" for your Delta 2 but sadly it is difficult to track the battery state as there are bits that aren't accounted for correctly because Ecoflow aren't sending the data.

      Hard to say, if it is overcast but light you can actually get better solar as the clouds bounce the light more. If it is a dark overcast day you can get practically nothing. On the January 12th I got a total of 300wh from an array of 2500w panels. Winter is absolutely brustal, for example in total in December I got 36kwh, April was 110kwh, this month (today is May 5th) I'm already at 20kwh. I don't have accurate data from last year but I believe in August I got closer to 180kwh.

    • @MattWells0

      @@Billy88London to run off solar in summer I would expect you could. I don't have exact numbers but I suspect you could probably get 800w (I'm guessing) on the roof of your van and I would expect that from spring until automn that would be enough. There is also an accessory that Ecoflow sell called EV X-Stream Adapter which will allow you to charge the battery from an EV charger which would take about an hour which could be helpful. Failing that there is also the option of charging using the 12v accessory socket while your engine is running but that would be slow at about 100w (36 hours for a full charge). It depends on your loads, if your trying to run a full desktop computer for 8 hours every day probably not. If you have a laptop and phone along with boiling a kettle every few hours probably last a few days of bad weather.

    • @MattWells0
      @MattWells0 5 місяців тому

      @@Billy88London it isn't quite when charging at full speed, but you can reduce the charge rate to make it quiter. 800w charge rate is where it becomes very audible but it would then take 4 hours to charge. I have been considering changing the fans out for some quiter ones but I haven't done so yet. If you are using a portable fridge you would probably be okay so long as it is powered by the 12v accessory socket. TV is probably fine, if you can convert it to run off DC rather than AC as well, even better. Best advice I can give you is to look at how much power the equipment you need uses. Decide how long you want to be able to run that equipment for, assuming you have no way to charge your battery and size your battery accordingly. You may find a Delta Max 2 may be enough, or an extra battery is needed and me lower than the Delta Pro. If you know the weather is going to be bad, avoid using your toaster for a couple of days.

    • @MattWells0
      @MattWells0 5 місяців тому

      I'm quite happy with it. I used to run my computer direclty from the Delta Pro's inverter and it would generally last between say 5:30 and 11pm depending on the games I was playing. Problem is if you forget the power will suddently shut down without warning. I now use a PowerStream to feed power into the house mains which a Ecoflow Smart Switch telling it how much power the computer is using so when the battery runs out the house power will continue un-interupted. Just be aware that this is a full gaming computer not optimised for power usage. Can use between 250w to 500w depending on the game. At 250W it could play into the early hours, at 500W it it will be about 3 hours. If you have a power monitor use it to see how much power your computer use while playing games you like. A Delta 2 is 1kwh which would run my computer at 250W for 4 hours and 500W for 2 hours.

      My understanding is that this normal way of wiring things in the UK but I am not an electritian so don't quote me on that. It has been running for nearly 2 years and I have not had an issue. Where I have had an issue is with an MC4 connector that I had clearly been crimped badly and was heating up quite a lot. The copper in the cable had clearly degraded and gone very stiff, the wires going into the box still feel normal. I am going to be moving house soon so it might be a good opertunity to put ferrals on the cables, I didn't have any at the time but I do now.

      I am assuming you are taking about ecoflow's own solar panels. While the answer is yes, you could connect them in parallel using an MC4 Y connector the Delta 2 can only accept 500w of solar. This is can be useful as it means on a less than ideal weather day you are more likely to get the 500w maximum.

      @@OriginalThisAndThat yeah I'm afraid the Open Circuit Voltage (VoC) is nearly 40 volts so you can't connect the panels in series which would put the voltage up to 80v when the Delta 2 only supports 60v and higher than that does risk damaging the Delta 2. If you were to have more than 1 solar panel it would have to be in parallel. This combines the amps for those panels could product up to 25 amps short circuit current (isc) while the Delta 2 spec says it only supports a maximum of 15 amps. Usually you can have higher amps on a solar charge controller than they are rated for (this is often called Over Panelling) but you cannot do that with volts. I do this with my Delta Pro, however it isn't officially supported by Ecoflow, if you do it, it is at you're own risk. The advantage of over panelling is that you will sustain the maximum power input of the solar charger for longer during the day, and can capture more solar energy on days where a single panel cannot capture the full 400W it is rated for due to cloud cover for example.

    I've had so many of these power packs. realistically 2 delta pros and 4 batteries will run a house. keeps the voltage of the solar array nice and high and keep the amps down. They seem to hate high amps and charge very slowly. Obviously 2 connected together a huge inverter capacity 7200 watts. 7.2 kWh of battery capacity. Any large household still using washing machine and tumble dryer at the same time would drain 7.2kwh in a few hours. so 20kwh is what is recommended for a true offgrid system

      Yeah I have no do doubt that 2DPs+extra batteries would power a house for a day or 2, maybe more with care. I have actaully done a test of a washing machine and tumble tryer in another video. The only down side is it is an expensive settup, in 220v world the only way to combine 2 DPs is with the Smart Home Panel by which point there are definetly cheaper solutions available but does fix the short comings of just having the DP units.

    Very interesting - in all the sales blurb I guess they gloss over the losses in charging and discharging. • @MattWells0
      @MattWells0 Рік тому

      That is kinda normal unless you are buying a charge controller of inverter individually. Even the most effecient DC-DC voltage converter can only do about 98% effeciency, when you start converting from AC to DC about 90% effecient and DC to AC about 85% effecient (rough numbers). So a total loss of about 22% is actually very resonable but perhaps not something I would expect a normal consumer to know/understand/care about. You ask a very good question, I am happy with the Delta Pro, I am glad that I bought it as it does exactly what I want it to do. However, I wouldn't buy it again, not because it isn't a great product but because it has allowed me to learn so much about batteries/solar/inverters and if I were to be given the option I would buy the cells and make my own power wall like Offgrid Garage or Digital Mermaid. I think it can be but it does depend on how you use it. I use mine to power my work and gaming computers mostly and at the time of purchase I worked out that it would take 4-5 years to pay itself back. To find out if it can work out for you is find how much power the devices you intend to use takes (in watts) and how many hours a day you expect to use it for and multiply them by eachother to find out how many watt hours you will need and device that by 1000 for kilawatt hours which is what electric company normally charge in. For example my computer uses 250 watts and I may would likely have it on for 16 hours most days would give me 4000 watt hours so 4 kilawatt hours (kwh) or about £1.20 a day. You can take the cost of the solar generator and dviide by that number to work out how many days (roughly) it will take to pay it off. It does get a little more complicated in the winter for example, in the UK there isn't really enough sun, especially with bad weather, to generate enough power to quite charge it and use it at the same time.

      @MattWells0 Рік тому

      Hi Martin, this is an interesting question and something I have only had a very brief look at and come to the conclusion that wind with solar generators isn't really a thing. They are designed to work with solar panels, wind requires additional electronics to manage the excess power that wind produces without damaging the turbine. The only way I could think of is to have a buffer battery which the wind turbine charges but since the solar generators I have seen only has a single DC input you would also need to add the solar into the buffer battery. By the time you make a big enough buffer battery to push enough power into the solar generator you may as well just make your own complete system. I think it is possible but I don't think it would be easy to do.

    Hi Matt, you're likely suffering from voltage drop at that 50mtr distance, running what looks like 2.5mm2 flex. Worth running the numbers to ensure you're giving the delta pro enough juice to charge efficiently. I think the delta pro's inbuilt MPPT charger has a minimum solar input of 11v? Possibly why the single panel in the shade wasn't performing, especially if that was over the 50m distance. Wiring your four panels up in series (if you haven't already) will help combat this, but over such a long distance you may find that regardless with 2.5mm2 cable the drop is still hampering you.

    • @MattWells0
      @MattWells0 Рік тому

      You are quite right, there will be likely be some voltage drop with the cable I am using, I knew that when I made this video, I think I even hinted at it although didn't say it. I have been intending to run the numbers but I haven't gotten around to it. What I can tell you is since I made this video I have now got 9 solar panels and depending on the time of year I either run a 4s2p which gives me 120-140v in the summer which I have seen pulling in 1700W for breif periods. Or as it is now in winter 3s3p for about 80-100v and around 1300W peak, not that I see that to often. I can feel some warmth from the cables when it is pulling 1700W, I am unsure if that is just because the sun is heating it up for if it is the resistance of the cable at around 18amps. Either way I am happy enough with this cable that I cannot justify spending the money to get anything better. Something that I had considered doing is this cable has 3 conductors, I'm only using 2 of them, I could pair up the spare conductor with one of the other 2 and reduce the amount of resistance (half?) in one direction at least. I was thinking about making a video on it but I haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

    • @MattWells0
      @MattWells0 Рік тому

      Probably not so long as you are using good cables, if the panel uses the standard MC4 connectors they are probably fine. That isn't to say that other connectors are wrong or dangerous, they are just most common. For a more technical answer 100w panel is probably about 12v so a maximum current of about 9 amps. The wire will likely have a number on it followed by "awg", if the number is lower than 20 they should be okay but the smaller the number better, I would probably want at least 18 awg. The lower the number the thicker the cable is. What breakers, fuses and other things like that are mostly for is to stop to much power going through cables which can only carry so much current (amps). If they carry to much they can heat up, in extreme cases can cause fires. If you do want to get a breaker find it what power your cable can handle (there are charts all over the Internet for this) and find a breaker that is about that current (in amps) or a little bit less that is rated for DC (direct current), most are AC (alternating currently) and cannot handle DC. If you are ever unsure please do ask a qualified electrician.
