Welcome to my Amazon fish tank again! In this video, you’ll see a group of Panda Uaru (Uaru fernandezyepezi) chilling in their sort of naturalistic environment. The Panda Uaru is a unique and beautiful freshwater fish known for its striking black and white coloration.
Panda Uaru Care:
🐟Tank Size: Panda Uarus are relatively large fish, so a spacious tank of at least 75 gallons is recommended to accommodate their size and activity level. Here they are in 4500 liter aquarium together with other amazon fishes.
🐟Water Conditions: They thrive in soft, slightly acidic water. Aim for a pH between 6.0 and 7.0, and a temperature range of 78-82°F /25-28°C. In my tank pH is 8.5. They are adapted. But these fishe are not wild. Therefore, they can stand higher pH. Regular water changes and maintaining good water quality are essential for their health.
🐟Diet: These fish are omnivorous and enjoy a varied diet. Offer a mix of high-quality pellets, flake foods, and fresh vegetables like spinach, peas, and zucchini. Occasional treats of live or frozen foods such as bloodworms or brine shrimp can also be given.
🐟Tank Setup: Create a natural environment with plenty of hiding spots using driftwood, rocks. Life plants are not necessary as will be eaten! Providing shaded areas will help them feel secure.
🐟Tank Mates: Panda Uarus are generally peaceful but can be territorial, especially during breeding. Choose tank mates that are similarly sized and non-aggressive. Avoid keeping them with very small or overly aggressive fish. In this tank they kept with freshwater stingrays with no problem.
🐟Breeding: Breeding Panda Uaru can be challenging. They prefer to lay eggs on flat surfaces, so include suitable spawning sites. After spawning, the parents will guard the eggs and fry diligently. Hope one day to experience it. If this happens I have 2 separate tanks (1500 liters each) where they can enjoy parental leave. 😊
