Wow, I learned a lot from this. I think I’m going to go back to my old syllabus and teach it again instead of teaching off the cuff to be cool. I think I learned a lot about what students appreciate from a teacher. I’m about to start my new class on Monday and this was incredibly helpful.

This is a great video. Einstein is credited with a quote that sums up why I like Strang's teaching style: “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler” Strang is good at striking this balance. Also, I think it's widely believed that getting other's excited about a subject means introducing it to them in a way that they see as beautiful. I think Strang actually goes in a better direction - he genuinely sees it as beautiful and he wants to share how he sees it. Just my two cents!

here is a secret from a prime bro to a prime bro..for something to be something or not to be something there need to be a choice or a distinction ,2 is a prime only because it had no other choice!!! but to be a prime...also they left out part of prime definition...number is a prime when its only divisible by 1 and itself AND when there is atleast 1 other natural number inbetween 1 and itself,2 comes immediately after 1 and it didnt have enough time to choose!! :)))))

Navier Stokes kinda too applied and if you aren't into rocket engines or meteorology it's highly probably outside your interests. And overall the problem introduced by the equations aren't simple. Try introduce navier stokes eqs to the 5th grade school student and you will be stuck with explaining what the hell is the derivatives, what it smoothness etc. And the collatz is pretty simple - do X if odd and Y if even, proof if it reduced to a cycle. And the more understandable the problem the easier to assert intellectual dominance. With Navier Stokes for average folk it would be the same as chicken song.

My fave is 7109. It's also prime in BAZY notation as SEVENONEZERONINE, although that is a much larger prime number. 0719 is related since in BAZY it's ZEROSEVENONENINE which is prime but not without the ZERO. BANANA is another fun BAZY prime. So is LOVE and FAMILY.
