Daer dear Valerie, I just see this now, age 40 and I feel PROUD and SADNESS at the same time. What you're doing your commitment.... THANKS YOU! Only one thought (fear), you've not the internal life. So much going on, besides the already difficult, but effective journey. I feel for ALL the people living in this kind of curcomstances.... one egoistic thought: since a child, I knew didn't/don't want to stay in my own country (the Netherlands). The urge to leave and and help people in need where possibel. Living with them and trying to change some important things relying on their trust. Still wondering why, bbut after my education I became sick: paraplegic and it's pregressive so quadriplegic in front of my future (but my life expentancy are not years). The only regret and deep sadness of missing out: that I was never (for a long time) able to live the life in a place where they need every person to give them a face to the world, try to help where possible... give my life the destiny where I belonged (and I felt and knew it from such a young age. All my family and friends knew they would have my conpannion, friendship forever, but from one point not around: let me go. But they never had to (exept the two times they had to say goodbye in hospital, but... still here). Not able to walk, losing all my motorskills sometimes fast, sometimes slow... I have no grieve over this. My only grieve is being stuck not able to persue my destiny. So sometimes I hope, against most religions (sorry, I know) that I'll come back on this earth and having a second change. If I was in any way able, I would come over for as long as you wanted me. I'm so worried, who could/can fill in your place when your life ends on this earth. Are or is there SOMEONE capabel??? Dear Maalika ♡♡♡ In wish YOU, but ofcourse everyone the biggest treasure in life: stay that extrodanary woman with a heart, soul and mind (so many can learn from), but besides that ALL the health and strenght to live, love en pursue the important and besutifull work you do. Also (beside all the people living there) for your husband and 2 BEAUTIFULL children. You're not only making them (visible) proud, all the locals... No you making me and for sure millions people around the world proud. I know that's now what you want, but I want to add to this, that in all those people there'll be who needed you to see and follow their hart to do the same. As someone who used to be a student in Afar, I know the climate and the risk she is operating to serve humanity. I feel sad that people like Valeria do not have a Nobel prize not even mention in the media for their hard work.

We need people like Valerie everywhere, she is a really a living example of a good brave woman, who gave her life to serve the Afar people. I have watched one of her documentary video, and I was surprised by the energy she has to serve others in the mid of hardship, I know the environment she is operating in because I used to be a student at afar university. She has my respect ❤

Some one needs to have a small plane or helicopter whether donate it to the cause or they themselves use it to go where vehicles cant? to use to drop off items and such...contact celebrities people of influence and make a direct appeal to them...I wish I had what some people have to do whats needed to be done..I apologize for my small suggestion idea I honestly wish I could do more, I will keep this situation in my prayers..
