DEHANCER....its nice but...
There is a learning curve with dehancer. In this video i show exactly what that learning curve is. And if it is not worth the time. This is my second time ever digging into it.

Thank you bro. most grip truck are just there for looks. I been on a lot of sets where they are only using tube light and C stands but have a 5 tone park out side. love your set up trying to get like you but on a smaller budget lol
Thank you for your honest and unbiased review! If there is any questions about Dheancer we could answer, please do not hesitate to drop them below.
Thanks so much for the great software. I can most likely do a 1 year or 2 year update!
Nice, Drew!
Thanks!

BROOOOOOO i love you. It is an honor for you to be first!!

@@PDMokry this is truth. and thank you man!
@10:12 did you really just shot GVM with bowen mount correctly mounted on while shooting aputure through the side hole?
Yes….yes I did I needed the extra bump with the aputure 600d. So to replicate the exact same look I did the exact same setup
Awesome as always
I love when "influencers" convince dumber influencers to buy shitty gear. Enjoy!
This is a joke. GVM makes trash. The accuracy of the color temperature and light output is what makes Aputure a professional light and the GVM a toy.
I didn’t test the accuracy of the temperature but skin accuracy seems to be on point. And output is very close…. I think I’ll do a temp test soon
@@drewromano6324 Output isnt close. Not from the professional tests I've seen. And skin accuracy isnt a thing. You need to test the color accuracy of the light. But enjoy your little channel. It's cute.
@@_FrontFootFilms_I’m sure you have used a vector scope before. And I’m sure you have noticed that in different lighting situations you get different skin accuracy. So really what was tested here was the CRI. Meaning how true to life the colors look. Color temperature has nothing to do with Color Rendering Index. I tested CRI and in my tests using tools that give you accurate reedings the light performed well. Meaning that an apple will look like an apple. Or skin will look true to life. So at 5600k the CRI was just as accurate as aputure in some cases. Btw I am an aputure fan boy. I don’t care about brand tho. I care about use case.
@@drewromano6324 - Agreed. I remember when GVM was something you wouldn't throw at a dog, but they've upped their game (not as "significant" as some other brands, but much better than they used to be) and seem to realize if you put out a decent product you will sell more. I stayed away from GVM for years because of their poor quality, but last year when I needed a 300 watt single source light, and I don't have the money for Aputure, I looked at reviews of the SD300S and SD300D. I was interested in the single hue light (5600) because I look to get the most brightness out of a light possible, and I have gels if needed. From the reviews I read (mostly) and some of the review videos I saw quality was still somewhat hit or miss, but if you hit you did not have any problems. Last year there was a great sale on the light for $300. I got it, and when it arrived I tested it at 100% for 2 hours, and there was no problems, and it looked great. It has been very useful over the past year. The GVM SD600S just arrived TODAY. I will be running it through the same 2 hour test to make sure everything functions as expected. It was on Amazon new for $459, and also had a $100 coupon to take down even more. I suspected GVM may be looking to move these lights in order to focus attention on their newer Pro line, and I think I was right. Hopefully GVM will continue to improve and provide even better equipment while still offering a worthwhile savings. BTW, most all my other lights are Amarans, including 60d, 100d, 200x and P60C. I am a fan of Aputure as well, and appreciate their Amaran line.
also Aputure has an app for their lights
So does GVM. The Sidus App that Aputure uses states in the Privacy Policy that the app will access your web browsing history on your phone. That's a deal breaker for me. To just turn the brightness up or down with my phone does not REQUIRE my web browsing history be sent to Sidus. I stopped reading after that.
I was devistated after I bought the 600d. the next week there was a package to include the light, f10 fresnel, and barndoors for the same price I already paid 😭
Isn’t that how it always goes ?? Lol
A tale as old as GAS 😅
Great review. Doesn't seem like much difference for the price. I am also thinking that the GVM chip is outputting less because it's Bicolor. A comparison with the 600X would probably give slightly closer results.
Yes I agree, seeing these 2 are similar in price I wanted to compare. Because GVM has bi color and aputure doesn’t.
Aputure has bicolor and multi color the 600x, and 600c mark ii
Thanks for the video! Love mine. The gripes are tiny compared to the utility and price. I hear a lot of people dogging this light but find me a better light with more output and options for a cheaper price.. It's so odd when people expect premium products for budget prices. What GVM is doing Is democratizing film lighting even more than it already has been and if people cant get great results with this light, the problem isnt the light 😂❤
Agree with you. This are always getting cheaper and better.
Nice review. Got almost the same observations. My 650B generates ~14k lux, they promise 21k :D. Aputure can hit 24k lux at 1m. When I compared them, seems like Aputure gives you 1 additional stop. Really useful for fighting the Sun in the windows :D. Regarding the skintones, I think I like GVMs + Light Dome III more than Aputure. Dome III 2 stop diffusion seems like Magic cloth, and it creates a bit warmer skin. So it also depends on the diffusion. What diffusion your 8x8 has?
Daylight fixture vs bicolor fixture....
Dude, it's a clip mic.... it has a clip
😂
GVM will edge you???? HOT DOGGGG. IM BUYING IT
Yes just like any other light!! can you believe it??
Such an in-depth review. Those small differences definitely don't concern me too much. I would still love to save some money and go with the GVM light. Since the lighting quality basically can't be distinguished. Love your videos.
Thanks man !
This wasn’t in depth. No metering done anywhere. And it’s not even apples to apples to start with.
Good video, but coming from a rental house owner the GVM won’t cut it…..but for an indy filmmaker who only handles the lights him or herself. The light should be ok in that application. In a rental environment, it’s more than just output..
Could not agree more. When you start introducing plastic knobs and connectors rentals houses will not pick those up. For local production companies freelancers owner operators I feel this light is a fantastic option.
😂😂😂😂 why would a rental house buy a buget light 😂😂😂😂 almost anyone can afford to buy these lights. 😂😂
People buy budget gear. They don't rent it from rental houses 😂. GVM The company is designed by film students for budget filmmakers and film students..... Not rental houses😂😂
You have to look at it from a rental house perspective because he's comparing it to a rental house ready lighting fixture. He's not comparing 2 budget lights here.
@@recardosands9948 aperture lights are prosumer lights tho. They're just on the higher end of the spectrum than GVM And the price reflects that...
0:47 ... I'm shittin bricks right now watching that $7,000 camera living on the absolute edge of the counter geez LOL. You couldn't turn it it sideways or something? LOL Nice vid man enjoyed it!
Very interesting key light configuration. Also, can't get enough of "gold" light at the moment. It's so nice.
Yea I’ve been a fan of warm back light lately
Amazing you can transport nearly everything you need in one trip with that cart. What a dream! 😅
Nice kit! Impressive images with that lighting package. Always the issue with travel lighting kits... sand bags! Can someone invent an inflatable bag that when filled with air gets really heavy? 😂
What kind of pipe did you use for that cart?
To be honest I am forgetting at the moment. But I was at Lowe’s and found some decently priced pipe. I really just shopped around. I plan on breaking down the components in a video soon
Super helpful. Out of curiousity what 5 in 1 reflector was that big one? I can never fit my big one in a suitcase. Also what camera backpacks?
I have a very old Dakine backpack... i want to say Marcus has the Peter Mckinnon backpack. both very solid. As for the 5 in 1 it is this one.. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1542348-REG/impact_crk_4272_g_5_in_1_collaps_reflector_42x72.html
Awesome video. Can you do a video about the cart?
I actually plan on doing that somewhat soon!
Appreciate seeing behind the curtain..... always nice to see how other people load their equipment and transported. One thought, you might reconsider putting your cameras at the back of the van. Should some idiot rear-end you, you're in deep deep trouble with the cameras at the back.
VERY good advice!

Great info, thank you for sharing! Love the idea of water filled sand bag alternatives! I have been bringing empty bags w/ me and trying to find sand/rocks at my travel locations, so this is a huge time saver!
They are amazing
Beautiful images. Would never have guessed it was with such a lean kit.
Thanks so much!
I enjoyed the video as I am trying to reduce the gear I travel with and have been looking at those 200-series Amarans rather than my 300 and 600 series. Question, you said you packed the cart in a case for checking... what case?
So it was just a normal luggage case for cloths. I’d say it’s about a 3 x 2
I’d love to hear about this cart. Watch the video about the other DIY card that you had, but this one looks way better.
Yes this one is much better. It can for sure stand the test of time. Making one soon!
Looks great! Y’all killed it.
Thank you!

I do myself a lot of corporate video abroad and those tips are helpful! I go alone, so I do have to make compromises. You go on the plane with the peli and the backpack? Usually I only carry a big backpack, everytime they see a peli case they want to take it away and check it. Did you have any problems? They allow both bags in the cabin?
So that is something worth bringing up. Sometimes you run into problems and they want you to check a bag. They don’t want you bringing both backpack and pelican. In this case I usually have cargo pants on. I can put lenses and breakables in there. As long as the gear isn’t too big. Or jacket pockets. But I usually figure out a way to check a bag and take out breakables
@@drewromano6324 thanks for answering. I'ts been a hassle for me because sometimes, even when they specify that devices with integrated non removable batteries can be in checked luggage, they make take it with me so they take more space. Sometimes I have gotten away with that: say that you have batteries and devices with batteries in the bag. Ultimately I travel with a 36L backpack and a 17 inch laptop bag, with the ronin, some batteries, and misc stuff. That has saved me from checking anything recently!
You never really know what TSA is gonna do lol. But rule of thumb for me is so pack batteries in carry on bags always. Breakables come with me or in cargo pants if needed. Or I just hold them in my lap. NEVER check breakables unless you want them broken.
@@drewromano6324 Are you saying that you pack v-mount batteries which contain Lithium ION cells into your checked baggage that goes under the plane with no way to get to them in case of a spontaneous explosion?
@@scottjohnson3017 ... Ahhhh my bad lol nooo they go in the cabin with me. They dont allow them to be checked.

@@drewromano6324 I need better security! lol
This is the first video of yours I watch. Great information! I really like the look you built for those interviews. That's a lot of equipment for a one man band. How long does it take you to set up all the lights, diffuser, etc? I also shoot mostly by myself and setting everything up can take so much time! Even using a lot less lights.
It might take me an hour to setup everything. But If I am solo I always let the client know the timeframe. And they are almost always ok with it. At the end of the day you are putting in more of your time on their project. So in theory they should love that lol. But as long as you communicate there is no stress
@@drewromano6324 yeah it's always good to let know the client in advance. On one shoot the client had a lower budget than I expected so I took out some deliverables and reduced the shoot hours to half. At the end I was kicking myself because it was really impossible to do within those hours so I ended up working in the production almost the same I time I have proposed the client at the start. 🤦
