Yes, for fairy tail game you can play as erza or any other character as you like. The character will be unlocked as you play the game. Make sure you complete the character story as only that way you can include them in your team. You will have 3 team members at the biginning and 5 members in grand magic game. Only in some quest where it depicts that you need to play that character but for the rest you can play as erza.
