The first videos begin with my vision for my own layout, and progresses with each Episode providing an overview of the Final Result in short videos.
Longer videos offering practical tips to detail your Model Train layouts will provide realism and be done on a cheap budget (or almost none as in my case).
1. How to make railing, fencing, guardrails without limit for literally a few dollars for everything.
2. How to make trees using everyday common household items or inexpensive items at the local craft store.
3. How to make realistic looking water and waterfalls without buying all the expensive solutions of mixtures.
4. How to create ground cover for almost free and yet everyone will be wowed at how real it looks (because it is real).
5. Maximizing what you have outside around your home that can give your layout a realism look
6. Providing you the tools and techniques and "you can do it" encouragement to start your layout and experiment.

I use a Digitrax system - you might be able to make expansion real simple without selling what you already have. With a UR90 panel, you can get untethered throttles like the 602D Super Throttle which I highly recommend. These work completely wireless but also have the option to connect to a faceplate for LocoNet. Your booster stays the same, the UR90 connects to your LocoNet ports on the command station or booster - any LocoNet port on the layout. I would recommend changing out your thirty-some locos with Digitrax drop in decoders - they run about $35 each so for just over a grand, you're running all your locos without mixing systems. If you want sound in all of them, that's going to cost you a lot more but to just get them on the layout, I'd use the Digitrax decoders and drop those in for now and upgrade to sound later if you want.
Feline Destroyer of worlds... and what a crazy layout and props to wanting to pass it on properly. Not sure worth but peeps have shown how to make trees/poles ect out of guitar string and such so they bend/dont pop out. Though its more a slot race car thing per peeps touching vs. kitties. Check out Jimmy Attard (Lunchbox channel that is run by his fam who dabble in his stuff) for some great explanation of such things.
The detail is incredible. It looks you have minor hurricane damage of the feline variety. 🐈💨💨
😂 yep. They love “helping” me
Love it! Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you so much Kyle!
I laughed so hard when you mentioned the cats. Thats the exact reason i didn't build a layout. I have HO scale, but.... cats.
Never had trouble with my cats. Sure they would come and see what I was up to in the layout room but after walking on the benchwork, they would get borde and leave.
LOL my darn cats love jumping up and watching me work...but they love laying down on the track which tears up my landscaping and smalls.....(people, cars, Telephone Polls)....
Even at Christmas with the set up under the tree they lay all over it. But I do like my cats.
@@kstofkos us too Kyle. We have 6 cats. Had 7 until last month we had to put one down. I live in the country at the end of a road and people drop them off out here. They make their way to our house. We have taken many to the County Shelter but these ones we have are family to us.
Love your layout, you have sooo much going on, love it!
Thanks so much! 😊
Шикарно! Класс!!! Красивая атмосфера!
Todd, this is so you can say his comment in Russian: Shikarno! Klaass!!! Kraasivaya Atmosphera!
Amazing. I’ll have to show this to my dad. He will be amazed!
What's it mean? LOL

Where did you go?
I’m still around. I plan to restart hopefully soon. I have another channel I pour most of my time into Appalachian History Detectives. I plan on expanding my layout later this Spring so more videos will post. Thanks for asking
I can only guess looking at your refinery build..... Why didn't I do my layout in HO scale
Pros and cons but I still love N Scale. I just need to work on my expansion.
Color on top of label "Cafe au Lait"

Interesting , thank you Sir. I live is Spain and my Brother in Law works in a refinery. here the pipe work is painted white because is is very hot in the south of Spain and they need to reflect as much heat away as possible.
Thanks Darren for that info. I’m sure there is some standardization here too but I once lived near the Ashland Kentucky refinery and everything was silver. These places are amazing at night with all the lights. I hope to begin more videos on this Channel but I have 2 UA-cam channels and my other saps all my time for now. I have almost 160 videos over there.
Surely there's gum on those sidewalks somewhere.
LOL
Wow, very cool and nice detail...I think you should add a Sasquatch, maybe terrorizing the ski resort.
The refinery in Ashland has always drawn my attention while passing it on 64, especially at night. I think I even have a couple pictures of it.
My best friends dad is a Supervisor there. I once lived in Huntington and saw it often. At night beautiful
I love it! Great job with the models, your sight will help me with ideas for my layouts 😁 take care
My friend, it says that the color is "cafe au lait." This is French for coffee with milk.
Actually old brick buildings I have been around have actually darkend from pollution. The mortor joints are more gray then white.
Kill the cat! Just kidding 😂
Nice job repurposing those buildings…for mortar joints I use a grey acrylic wash over the surface then wipe with paper towel…you’ve got some nice water scenes on your layout…would like to know how you created the falls
I need to do a tutorial on this. Here is how I do it. I bought Angel Hair and 2 part epoxy at Hobby Lobby. I put the mixed epoxy in a medicine cup and use a small paint brush in the epoxy and coat and brush the Angel hair in one direction. Being new to UA-cam when I built this layout it didn’t dawn on me that anyone would watch tutorials but I have received a lot of requests.
@@Rktect3902 thanks for that info…want to creat a small fall but wasn’t sure how to do it….have seen other techniques but very complicated
@@georgiasunbelt thanks. I have another UA-cam channel I post weekly too I’m trying to wind down and wind up this one. Your suggestion is exactly what I need. As you see in my videos my layout is about complete so my fault is I started my channel too late. I do believe I can show techniques on how I did my scenery. As an Architect I learned a lot while in college on modeling.
You’ve got a very scenic diverse layout….farm and prison (never seen that modeled before) scenes very detailed…would like to see your ski lift in operation…your profession translates perfectly for model railroading
Thanks. I need to post more videos and I can do one of the ski resort. I scratch built most of it. I have another UA-cam channel that takes most of my time but it’s winding down and I need suggestions such as yours to know what train fans like to see.
Nice Chick-fil-A scene…been seeing drywall compound used more and more…parking lot scene in corner is cool…thought about putting a pedestrian bridge over the rails from the lot? new subscriber….Anthony
Thanks Anthony. I do plan on posting more videos. I have another channel that has been sucking a lot of my time but trains are my real hobby. I do plan on focusing more on this channel this summer.
Would seam to me that when models are this small, layer lines become an issue, and the best method for making them is probobly SLS/resin
Cool vid, like this idea of Chick-Filet in the corner with the overflow parking lot.
Who did you get the Chick-fil-a restaurant from on eBay? I searched and can not find it on eBay. I would like to order one. Thanks, your layout looks great!
There is one listed right now on the following link for $19.99 www.juarasewac.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=378625 or just go to www.juarasewac.com. I tried to find a summary if that is who I bought mine through but its been a while ago. Let me know if it works and is still available.....
@@Rktect3902 Thank You for the information!
Great set up. Walthers also produces a Culver’s Restaurant Kit, but it is currently available only in HO. I sent them a request to do it in N - hopefully they consider it. Summit Custom Cuts offers some modern restaurant kits as well.
Nice idea with that restaurant and a parking lot in the unused corner. Cant wait to see the result’s💫☘️
It looks good, Can't get a McDonalds because of copyrights. Bob
Thanks Bob. I never even thought of that. Makes sense though…(maybe I will scratch build one)
Just found and subbed , take a look at my n scale vids when you have a chance. Good video
Shoot me a link I can’t find it typing in your name….I will take a look!

Looking forward to the landscaping segment. Great video.
Thanks Ron. It’s a monumental effort and why I have delayed it. Winter is normally when I can work on it but I’ve been Metal Detecting. (Too many hobbies…😂)
@@Rktect3902 Ya, I know, that's why I was waiting for you. Get some pointers on landscaping. Hobbies are good, your doing great.
Ever try wood kit?
Yep I love wood kits but some can be tough. The toughest one for me believe it or not is the water tower on the Thumbnail of the first video. I need to upload more videos maybe the wood ones are next…..
i sub u nice job on the layout
Thanks
Everything looks great. Good job. Bob
Your buildings are so realistic and very cool. Great job Todd.
Thanks Tom
The roof of the brick factory truly looks like an old hot tar mopped roof. Nice job!
Thanks Gordon
Mind Blowing Good Pretty Kick Ass Cool. Scratch Building Is quite Tough Goin to a Train show is Better to Get Building Built or Not I have a Good collection of good Buildings.
New sub
Yes, I can see 3D Printers do wonder for this Great hobby. Bob
It’s a great time to be in the hobby. I’m seeing more and more being used by 3D models. Cool stuff
Holy cow. The attention to detail is off the chart. You are spectacular. Keep em coming. Thanks for the adventure. The people really need to see the perspective of size of something, a coin maybe. They will realize even more to see your skill. Great job Todd!!!
Thanks brother!
That really looks fantastic!
Thanks Gordon
I love this video
😻

The station at the 10 second mark, it is a kit?
No I scratched built that out of plastics from Evergreen
That’s amazing, You’re amazing! The whole layout is fantastic.
Nice nice nice!! Do not waste your time > P r o m o S M !
What is PromoSM?
I have heard the “platforms” referred to as “elevations”.
Just awesome. True talent. Great job Todd. Keep em coming.
Never had an N scale , but there is more detail in HO . Looking forward to landscaping. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Happy holidays! N Scale used to be the smallest scale until Z Scale came out which is what they call a Brief Case Scale. N Scale is very tiny but you can put up large layouts in a small space with it....Cheers Ron!
Awesome work
