May Tony Todd Rest in Peace
Tony Todd, what a talent.
I gotta sit down and marathon all these movies.
@@Vertabreaker3 the first one and the fourth one are the only ones worth watching.
Vintage horror does not get enough love these days IMO.
So many options from across the genre spectrum.
I could have listed movies for hours.
Such an under appreciate topic for horror.
So many great options for this category.
Happy Halloween!
Christopher Lee was simply the man.
Never having seen it before, I chose the surprisingly creepy ‘Scooby-Doo On Zombie Island’
I'm not the biggest Scooby-Doo fan, but this one is repeatedly brought up by msot the UA-camrs I subscribe to. I'll have to get around to watching this.
When it comes to B movies, Roger Corman reigns supreme. Therefore, I choose his 1957 cult creature feature classic ‘Attack Of The Crab Monsters’.
One of his most underrated movies, I too went for the dark, disturbing and explicit ‘Frenzy’
Yeah, that movie is a shocker on a first watch.
It still stuns me that neither Ashley Judd or Michael Shannon didn’t win, or were even nominated, for their astonishing work in William Friedkin’s raw and uncompromising ‘Bug’ (2006)
far from the best film he starred in but nonetheless one of his best performances, I went for Hammer’s ‘To The Devil A Daughter’.
So many horror movies with cults.
I’ve literally just finished watching ‘House Of The Devil’, Ti West’s atmospheric 80’s throwback that may be a slow burner but comes together in its gory and action packed final act.
A Tale of Two Sisters is a must see if you haven't
More of a crime thriller than a straight up horror, I chose ‘Tell Me Something’ - a gripping and gruesome police procedural with Fincheresque cinematography, a great soundtrack and some truly spectacular moments of gory violence.
A24 has so many great horror movies. Basically any would have been a good choice.
Adoro assistir filmes deles🎉
Against the mold, I went for the 1972 anthology classic ‘Tales From The Crypt’ from Amicus. A terrific chocolate box of nasty little stories with some wonderful performances (Peter Cushing is downright heartbreaking) and, of course, some memorably twisted stings in the tail.
@@DanCookMovieReviews Cushing and Patrick Magee from A Clockwork Orange stand out.
I should have also mentioned the Spanish "Dracula" played by Carlos Villarías.
Not the most obvious choice but I chose Stuart Gordon’s squishy 2001 straight-to-DVD fish-em-up ‘Dagon’.
That one I've heard mixed reviews for. I'll see it, but not rushing to it.
Movies on Tubi or made by Tubi? That is the question.
Cage has so many good horror roles, but I had to go with "Mandy". "Vampires Kiss" would have been a fun pick if only for the memes.
This one went off the rails at the end in a hilarious way.
A genuinely haunting movie, I went for ‘The Taking Of Deborah Logan’, both a terrifying possession thriller and a heartbreaking metaphor for Alzheimers.
@@DanCookMovieReviews I've heard good things about that one.
I misunderstood the assignment and instead went for a film that I didn’t like the first time and give it a rewatch. So I went for ‘Chopping Mall’ from 1986. Yeah, didn’t improve much the second time.
I would say that fits the criteria.
Despite its overwhelmingly negative reception, I decided to dig out ‘Pay The Ghost’ from 2015. It’s not a great movie by any means and the ending devolves into poorly generated CG ooga booga. But before then, it’s a pretty compelling horror/thriller with one of Cage’s better performances from the past few years.
@@DanCookMovieReviews I'll give it a look.
I was going to pick Young Frankenstein but, as I’ve seen it so many times, I’ve instead gone for ‘Dracula : Dead & Loving It’.
So many good horror comedies to choose from.
By no means the popular choice but I chose to give ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s a chance - not a great film but effective as a tamer gateway into the genre for younger viewers.
I could also have picked “Hush” (2016), “Lords of Salem” (2012), “Creep” (2014), or “Freaky” (2020).
Love upgrade and the purge
I opted for ‘Hellbound : Hellraiser II’ - a sequel which, while it may be sacrilegious to say so, is a far superior movie to the first.
@@DanCookMovieReviews I've only seen the first Hellraiser. I may tackle that next on Franchise Odyssey when I finish Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
I wish 'The Hammer" was in more genre films. He had a knack for them.
@@Vertabreaker3 the recent Michael Jai White film took some cues from this film. Can't remember the title off-hand.
@@CinemaMack “The Outlaw Johnny Black”.
I opted for ‘Ready Or Not’, a first time watch for me. What a great film. Delightfully twisted, absolutely hilarious and genuinely intense.
Another one on my back catalog I need to see.
Samara Weaving is the niece of actor Hugo Weaving, had to look it up.
I opted for the wonderfully cheesy William Castle classic ‘House On Haunted Hill’, a film which, with its plastic skeletons, over the top screaming, Vincent Price on particularly sinister form and dark humour encapsulates everything I love about Halloween
@@DanCookMovieReviews That MAY pop up on another day. Love the blind old lady in the basement.
Love “Get Out”.
@@Vertabreaker3 I plan on checking out Us in the near future.
You left the screw up in, hahaha.
@@Vertabreaker3 Keeps them feeling candid.
It's one of the more memorable Italian movies.
@@passaggioalivello Every element, from the music to the action to the comedy, works.
Fun fact - the actress who played Judith was Mayor of Aberystwyth when I was at university there. It was one of the few remaining towns in the UK where the film was still banned. The ban was lifted a few years later in 2009 - 30 years after it was first released.
That's really cool!
I opted for the 2004 London Underground set ‘Creep’, enjoyably gory but fairly standard for a mid 2000’s, post ‘Saw’ slasher.
Noting it.
Avoid the unnecessary sequel of “The Descent”.
Not necessarily horror but my choice was Shane Meadow’s heart racing yet heartbreaking 2004 Brit thriller ‘Dead Man’s Shoes’
Adding that to my watchliost.
Another option would have been "Martyrs", but that movie is soo much more than a revenge horror movie. "I Spit on Your Grave" is also amazing. "The Autopsy of Jane Doe" was also great. Other better known options could be "It", "An American Werewolf in London", "Poltergeist", "Carrie", "Scream", "A Nightmare on Elm Street", and "The Hills Have Eyes".
I don't think I have the stomach for Martyrs.
@@CinemaMack it's a tough watch.
