I would disagree that the reason academics tend to disbelieve in satan is because they are more skeptical. It may be the reason for some, but for ithers it actually is because the more you get into the text, the more you realize that the informatikn isnt so black and white.

If the results of prayer or the authority of Jesus are so hit and miss to be no different than randomness how significant can they be?

Satan is as real as you want him to be. I can't be bothered.

Yeah, but Jesus wasnt traditional in His day, that is, to those who got God wrong. Been reading the book... FINALLY, more people are getting it. I personally look back to satan, the tree, and adam and eve. For the answer to the problem of evil. I dont erase those in my mind and insert God. I look to the source of where and why it was allowed. And since the Scriptures tell us that God is not a God where evil dwells with, then the problem of evil is not a God source.

This is an old video from Greg. About love and free will, I want to ask him if God Loves by choice or if God loves because that is His nature. I would say God loves because that is His nature. And also, is God free? Or does He have free will? God cannot sin or hate in the same sense as humans hate. So, to love does not necessitate the possibility to do otherwise. God wants us to accept Him because we have seen His goodness and also we know the consequences of disobeying His call, Love comes later, since Love is a fruit of the Spirit. No one comes to God loving Him but submitting to Him because of what God has shown us in Jesus Christ. Yes, we make the decision to follow Jesus not because we love Him but because what He has promised to us and the consequences of rejecting this offering.

I go for the God is free position. No way to know for sure but when reading the old testament I see a God who learns new things and has new experiences. It changes Him. In order to change you must be Free.

I thought I was getting it but Im still confused. We know so many people that needed miracles for sickness and still died with prayer chains going. If God could stop the sun like in Joshua 10:12-14, why couldnt He just simply perform a supernatural miracle out of mercy all the time? Why do so many variables have to be completed? How do you explain covering all the bases yet they still dont receive. Not every miracle performed by Jesus was done because of their faith. He also showed mercy. My only rest and hope is that there's heaven when we die. Otherwise it seems like its been hit or miss.

Obey the Law of Christ, live completely free of sin, and then YHWH will do miracles when you ask, and He will answer your prayers.

Matthew 28:18 ‘And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.’ Clearly satan does NOT have all power on earth, The resurrected Christ unequivocally states as fact HE has it! Boyd also does NOT seem to remember that it was The Lord who flooded the earth, it was The Lord who destroyed sodom and Gomorrah, that The Lord brought judgement on Israel against the Assyrians, Babylonians and Romans. Boyd seems to make a bigger satan and a smaller God. However we want to philosophize things, it is God ultimately who has all power, all knowledge and is in control of all things.

All dinosaurs were vegetarians? 😂 Even my 4 year old daughter gave me “the look” at this concept. Although I appreciate his highlighting of Luther’s vile views, a man who I hear quoted quite a lot to this day. All else was equivalent to ruminations on fairies at the bottom of the garden. Atheism simplies this theodicy drastically.

And you aren't informed about historical etymology. In classical antiquity, the seven classical planets or seven sacred luminaries are the seven moving astronomical objects in the sky visible to the naked eye: the Moon, Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. The word planet comes from two related Greek words, πλάνης planēs (whence πλάνητες ἀστέρες planētes asteres "wandering stars, planets") and πλανήτης planētēs, both with the original meaning of "wanderer", expressing the fact that these objects move across the celestial sphere relative to the fixed stars.[1][2] Greek astronomers such as Geminus[3] and Ptolemy[4] often divided the seven planets into the Sun, the Moon, and the five planets.

So Boyd is an expert on Satan? (Amongst other things.) No mention of Satanism vs Luciferianism? Nothing about Magick or the Ars Goetia? How about the differences between right and left hand path? How is Gnosticism related to the Occult? You would think if you're going to equip the troops for battle you would know a little bit more about the subject. Boyd certainly has the time. His wife allegedly takes care of his schedule. Maybe Boyd is a double agent...

Would have liked discussion alone Rene Girard's line to contribute to this. If there wasn't a Satan, man would have to invent one, to carry his guilt. Our tendency to transpose our guilt onto the satan goes to the very core of our human nature, and our cultural experience. It is the basis of all war. Isn't this the revelation of Christ in the Gospels? "You are blind because you think you see." They were the scapegoaters. Would love some discussion along these lines, how the gospel opens our eyes to see ourselves as the satan, to become disciples of Christ, the peacemaker, not the scapegoater, instead. Not saying this denies a personal satan, but certainly the gospel and the cross unmasks satan within our own social lives. This reveals the whole global dilemma as we see it today.

Christian Faith Ministries: Satan does not remove human responsibility or mans guilt. This assumption is not biblical at all. To argue "Satan made me do it." is stupid. But man is not only an offender. Man is also a victim. This is revealed in the story of the fall.
