How do you fix a door light on a GE refrigerator ?

I am having a similar problem in that the lights all come on fully when doors first open and THEN they all dim. No flickering. I see 6 lights total. Would this procedure work for this problem? Thank you!

If you cant find an LED that is completely out. look for another LED wired into the same compartment above the Deli drawer. I had the same flickering issue. I Replaced all 5 LEDs in the refrig compartment (you only need to replace the little LED card, not the whole enclosure and there are other UA-cam videos showing this procedure ) but still had flickering. I then replaced the Deli "Cover Front MP ASM" (WR32X24373) and Voila! Full brightness once again. It is so EZ to install. Just take out the crisper drawers above it and there are 2 screws in the back holding it in. Unplug the old one and plug in the new. Unfortunately you cannot buy just the circuit card like the other LEDs This part cost about $70 delivered from GE parts direct. Delivery in 6 days via the USPS but you can expedite if you want to pay extra. {At least the UA-cam saved me from buying complete units for the other lights. )

I will never buy GE again I have tried every part possible and lights still flicker. Changed all LEDs, board, and door switches all to no avail. The lights still strobe. I taped up the door switches to tell the fridge the door is shut but will that effect the temperature control if the fridge thinks the door never opens? This issue happened literally 2 weeks aftwr the warranty. A $3000 fridge that we can’t even see inside of it in the dark. Never again will we purchase anything GE

Same as a few dozen other people... you saved us from a big service charge or a bunch of seizures. You are able to order knock off LED boards also now I found, which gets it down to about $9. Heck, just having it not flicker anymore I can live with. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this video. Our refrigerator is doing the same and I'm pretty sure if I go this route it will take care of the problem. I ended purchasing the chrome piece after all. I noticed by just purchasing the light bulb it was missing a piece so just went with the covering.

Our GE refrigerator had the chrome colored light housings. I ordered a replacement set (light board and chrome colored housing) from Amazon for $25. The part was delivered in two days. I followed your directions to pop the old one out and plug in the replacement. Voila, all the lights came back on. Thanks for the video.

Currently going through this problem. Not our first problem with a GE product. Not recommended!

Thank you! Unfortunately this problem has not happened 3 times on the same light on our GE refrigerator (2.5 yrs old). It starts with flickering and then that light goes off (making everything else dim). And then I replace the small board in the light. And now it has started happening for the 4th time. Is it possible to just 'short' (bypass) that single light? We can live with one less light in the refrigerator. But I don't know what else to do.

Thank you, thank you!! My GE lights have been dim for months (one iight was out)...no warranty coverage and I wasn't sure what to do. For less than $30 and about 30 seconds of time, the problem was fixed thanks to you. Our GE refrigerator is less than 2 years old and this is our second problem with it.

Great advice. Our lights went dim with one light out. Replaced the one light and all lights now back to normal. Manual states to call a repairman to fix the light. Easy DIY!

I did exactly what you suggested and it fixed my blinking light problem. I had 1 light out. I looked on the Internet for the part and actually found GE had the best total price and I was much more comfortable ordering from GE Appliance Parts. Ordered it on 4-19,, shipped on 4-21 and I received it on 4-24. They actually had 50% off on the white one and it was still about $66. My cost was $19.40 for the "chrome" one, $5.95 for shipping, $1.52 for tax for a total of $26.87. Thanks for your great help!! Leon from Michigan
