This is how the Gypsies live we might think it's cruel and harsh and inhumane but they call it life. I bought a set of twin foals from Applebys and had them for 25 years they were gray. They were my best friends. When they died I sort of went into a shell. Now I want to go back and bring more back. That's one thing I will never do is whip them, they are kind and gentle,they don't need a whip.

Sadly at these types of places & especially horse auctions you see a lot of horse abuse because the people are very ignorant

Could think of a better use of the whip on the ignorant drivers

Horrid treatment of the horses. This is a "tradition" that needs to go the way of the dinosaur.

Just inside that doorway at Wilson and Jubbs there was the so called big pot where scrap lead was melted down and if a piece of zinc was er hum accidentally i introduced into it BANG You be running away from molten lead that would spray out very dangerous When the safety inspector came to look around it was prearranged and he was told the big pot was not used anymore and even the weighbridge was swept then he had a drink in the office Double bent was the norm in those days

Some of those men are brutal with their whips they should be banned from having horses and prosecuted for cruelty.

the idea of the tradition when they come together is fantastic, whats wrong is dragging along mares with foals at foot! being rough when there really is no need over whipping and seeing some horses that shouldnt have tack on their back at the age they do thats whats wrong with it all. Let a baby be a baby, and stop causing distress where there is no need for it

Having been to this fair many years ago and seeing this first hand i don't actually see that much wrong with the welfair of these horses. It certainly isn't cruelty to horses. Yes a few might people might need to be educated in certain aspects of tacking their horse but other then that these horses are well covered and fairly well looked after. Leave this fair alone leave these people alone. This is one of the last pieces of real history of these islands left in modern Britain and all these ways of life have to be preserved
