AT82 long term review F42-R34 hours! Do I love them? Yes and maybe! KTM 300 TPI
OK, this is my long-term review of Dunlop AT82 tires I put 34 hours on the rear tire and 42 hours on the front tire so I could understand how they wear trying to compare them to the consistency of the AT81s that are going out. That being said I did flip the rear tire from the scooped configuration to the flat configuration at about 25 hours. I have a 2020 300 XCW. As I did reach out to Dunlop and they did provide me free tires. Not the ones I ran. I included information that they sent me in an email on the tires for your benefit if you’d like to read.

Also having read comments and again watching the videos, if OK, I have some additional information that could be useful
Front
A number of pattern comments, nothing negative, but just some additional insight from our end.
Pattern was derived from the MX3s Motocross race tire, which was/is highly sought after for MX racing, tons of traction but not great durability.
For the AT82 we revised the compound and tire construction to add a significant amount of durability than what the MX3s had. In fact, a few Baja teams are running the AT82 front because of performance and durability, preferred is the 90/100 size.
There have been several 250 riders that have been using the AT82 in Supercross and finished in the top 10.
As you mentioned, we did not make the 90/90 in the AT82, but instead made the standard 80/100 and larger 90/100 as this was requested more in the market.
Rear
Durability, you may find this when you flip the tire, or when you mount the new one, but running hard direction forward does increase the durability by giving a broader surface for force (power) to be applied to.
My coworker prefers hard direction forward for a “softer” acceleration bite and likes the more aggressive breaking feel.
I prefer the soft forward direction giving the opposite feel with more aggressive acceleration and neutral braking feel.
Lateral DRIVE grip (meaning under acceleration) of the AT82 has significantly increased with hold and slide predictability over AT81. AT81 would tend to break free fast and drastically when encountering a bump at lean and under acceleration.
Not saying this to sway your opinion, but rather has been the number one rear tire comment from editors, racers and OEM test riders.
I believe you mentioned that lateral grip when traversing off-camber felt worse than AT81. I think AT81 knob shape (grooves) may attribute to more hold at lower speed lateral forces, but can lead to more knob flex under higher load (high speed).
Rear profile is slightly taller and narrower than AT81, designed to disperse impacts more evenly and reduce sharp feeling hits. I am curious if the lateral movement you feel when off-camber could be from the tire rolling? For example, because the AT82 is taller there may be more area for roll/movement.
I noticed you’re running very low PSI, where are you riding at? Do you ever feel rim hits? Our typical AT82 recommended pressure is 13F/12R, usually offroad I run 13F/10-11R and motocross I run13F/12.5R. In one of the riding videos I was noticed how flat the rear looked and started giving me palm sweats and PTSD of trail changing tubes. Lol.

This was our first ride back in the national forest after all the storms rearranged most of our trails. It was a fun day, but it took a lot of energy. Sidenote, I’ve started editing in daVinci on an iPad Pro. This works so much better than the GoPro app . I think the video cuts between cameras so much better what do you think ?
