Aired on Disney Channel at least once during its preschool programming block, Lunch Box. I am going to email Disney Channel to air this again during a repeat of Ice Princess (2005).
When I first watched this as a kid, I remember being confused as to why they went through all the trouble of creating such complicated figurines of people when minifigures existed. Now that I'm older, I realize that this was made at a time when minifigures weren't yet a thing (or at least weren't very common), nor were most of the more complex and diverse sets and pieces that LEGO has produced since then. It's just incredible to see how effectively the people who made this were able to make use of the limited resources they had at the time.
1:24, 3:24 Teamwork. 1:53 They must've run out of white bricks for the snail eyes. 2:01 Blegh. 2:05 Was that meant to happen? 2:54 Big crash. 4:06 Poor guy.
All these competitors were later disqualified for doping.
LEGO Sports Champions shorts were actually featured on Disney Channel’s program “Lunch Box.”

The lack of minifigures allowed them to do some pretty creative stuff like the characters changing shape and falling apart.

I’m always impressed whenever someone makes a build using brick built people instead of mini figures
I think mini figures weren't invented yet when this was created.
